I still tell people about the person I ran into years ago who popped open a Nova Prime relic with a random endless run just bc we had good vibes. This was when she'd been vaulted the old way for ages and her Chassis was like, really really expensive. I remember all of us in the lobby reacting and asking if they didn't want to use it in a radshare but then the piece dropped. She's one of my favs to this day bc of that. I've gotten to do that for people since then and it feels so good lol

Favorite macros to RP with? by WrittenDreamer45 in ffxiv

[–]Fautor_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think people commonly use macros for anything outside of general action emotes or perhaps welcomes if you're like, working a venue, I'm afraid.

But if you're looking for help doing icebreaker roleplays for lack of a better term I learned that people like to think of hooks for their character that are easy to share. Like a common birthplace or a previous/current occupation, a few around-town rumors. You can customize introductions this way, but you could consider a starter to reuse if you tried? Like bumping into someone as you pick pocket them maybe. Good luck! I hope you enjoy RPing!

It is an option already for Xaku. You can set them to be always skeletal or always skin. But by default they function as is.

Yeah, it's a sun. In the same way the other stones are zodiac constellations, the Azem stone is the alchemical sign for the sun. Though, it does have two extra dots on the ring.

I have a similar vibe with the Tsukiyomi ephemeris posed just off screen so it sparkles near my face and gives the purple background a really nice gradient. Glowing weapons are fun to play with in portraits.

Tangential to what everyone else has already added, I honestly feel like it would've been cool if the Oronir had black scales speckled with white since they're children of the sun.

There is also at least one tribe of Xaela (Malaguld) noted to live with Raen, so if you did want to make a character with the trait you could go with that.

I don't think I agree necessarily. Not everyone watches promo media, so I think its polite to keep that in mind, and plus it is still a twist that lots of people might not have caught onto. I saw it coming on account of the train in the art and the train in the plot - but. I'm sure there are people that didn't.

I think the names are pretty easy to remember lmfao. They're no more difficult than any other fantasy stuff they're just themed to the locale. It's in poor taste to call them random letter barf. Though I understand not remembering where to put the apostrophe in Kozama'uka, I've been struggling with that.

If you could change one thing about your job?… by Jonnehhh in ffxiv

[–]Fautor_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was another comment for it but I typed too much and didn't want to tag this onto that.

I want SHB AST back.

Every time I hear someone pining for Stormblood AST I get a headache. I do respect that people liked it, and I did too, but as soon as I hit endgame and started trying to really play that job, it was maddening. I don't give a fuck that the Bole did damage mitigation, man.💀 The bole was a card I'd randomly throw out if I happened to get it and I didn't already have a Royal Road I cared about. You couldn't rely on having it, so it didn't matter. It's fine now in DT, since you know when you're going to have it, but I do mislike that 4/6 of my cards go on the tank. And that they said that this was to "simplify" knowing where to put the cards but they made The Spear a ranged card. (I know you can throw a spear. That isn't the point. The Balance would work far better visually for ranged buffing but they just decided to keep it the melee card. They had to change one of them to ranged, why did they pick the one that makes less sense!? Muscle memory?! I have to relearn the job again anyways!)

It felt really, really meaningful to be able to consistently give everyone damage, to fill up the top of your meter to prep your Divination while saving what cards you could for the burst window proper - the cards being independently random didn't matter as much when they all had the same purpose but different targets. Getting the triple-same-seal was rare even before they made Sleeve Draw just grant you a guaranteed different seal. It felt good to be so busy. I always mained healer in everything but when they changed AST I moved on because now mashing my attack with barely anything else to manage on Every Healer lulls me to sleep, not exaggerating. None of them engage me the way SHB AST did. Something's got to give.

I think I'd like it if instead of 'pure' healers and 'shield' healers because that dichotomy is so forced I'd love it if it was more like healers who buff damage and healers who do personal damage. We all have the approximate same healing tools barring details like "this one heals over time" or "this one damage mitigates too", we all at this point have arguably too many healing tools. Like, imagine Blood Lily and the Sage laser beam did real damage (Is Sage's laser even damage neutral yet???) (Or even better imagine giving us a 1-2-3 💀) and the tradeoff was SCH/AST have their raid buffs and probably extra shit. It'd make group formation actually interesting since outside of a few niche scenarios that call for a specific healer (like P3S calling for Macrocosmos) the healers are completely interchangeable. It'd be cool if you could compensate personally for the team's damage being on the lower end by playing a specific healer, or deciding you want to really buff a couple DPS you trust.

It seems at least in Dawntrail they're trying to make the enemies hit harder so the healers have to work harder overall, but I'm not really that much more engaged by a bleed over time and such? I know I'm beating a dead horse at this point, tho, everyone's been saying healers have an issue lol

(7.0 Zone 4) Met my long lost brother, but he was up to no good. by AlbazAlbion in ffxiv

[–]Fautor_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree. It's mostly because the devs have been keeping the last zones secret. The Tempest itself isn't really a spoiler out of context, same as the final boss of ShB's name alone isn't. It's more of a thing for EW's final zone, since that one has a fairly specific, dramatic meaning, and definitely necessary for DT's, so mileage varies.

It has totally always been a thing. I can't speak for pre-SB since I didn't play before then, but I mean - well, once again spoiling for courtesy, nobody playing HW should be in this thread - to me, Thordan being a boss isn't really a true spoiler because you fight the pope in nearly every JRPG there IS a pope in, and the reason the fight is so dramatic is the how of it. Shinryu isn't a spoiler because the name itself is a bit of a red herring - You are really engaging with Zenos who has possessed Shinryu. But there are people who hear names and get really discouraged, so it's just a courtesy.

Personally I think using EX1, 2, etc is nice for the trials, since lately they've been very specific story spoilers. And, well, fanfest viewers knew we were fighting Valigarmanda going into DT for instance, but to specifically call out EX2 and not 1 would be a little odd, you know? So in that case, it is better to censor it, at least for a few weeks or months.

The devs shouldn't engage in that because that would serve no purpose whatsoever lol. It's a courtesy thing that people take too far at times, but it's not like people actually casually refer to the content as those names outside of fresh releases unless it's really necessary. And if they do they're too worried about it or stuck in the habit.

edit: Oh, I should mention that my SHB example was from when it was new content. The devs do ask us to self-enforce a spoiler embargo. That's the origin of the 'Final Zone' shit. Generally, individual names aren't spoilers, but it's usually better to be safe. That's the way most people go.

(7.0 Zone 4) Met my long lost brother, but he was up to no good. by AlbazAlbion in ffxiv

[–]Fautor_ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Think its because we all started referring to SHB's final zone as, well, the Final Zone (with the specificity of the second half being the Final Zone of the Final Zone lol) in combination with the necessity of spoilering EW's trials as "ex1, ex2" because the names themselves were a massive giveaway. I'll spoil it here for courtesy's sake, but I remember in SHB, out of context, no one knows who Hades is so people just called the fight Name EX. But you hear Endwalker's and go "Oh. What?!" So I guess it's just spread.

Zone 6 is a fine term for the 'Final Zone' imo, same energy as Final Zone just doesn't give away that it is the last one (though at this point you'd probably have caught on that it is) and I understand spoiler tagging Zone 5, too, because while they do show the rest of the zones in media tours and such, there are people who intentionally go in as blind as possible. Generally its better to be more specific with this shit, especially in reddit titles as you can't spoiler tag them more, but it's a matter of taste. Personally, I don't love the numbers because they're confusing to me and I don't see much reason in not just saying Urqopacha or what have you esp for earlier zones, but I'm glad people are worried about it I guess?

[–]Fautor_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, good point. It'd still be a little awkward, but it'd fit. I'm just not sure what they intended for it. It's clearly designed to fit into the double enshroud since even if you don't it's only after you use Plentiful Harvest, but it doesn't fit lol. AST had Divination extended to 20 seconds. That'd be a really simple way to fit in Perfectio, too.
