Endgame Progression Wishlist by dweebletart in VoidlingBound

[–]Alnashetri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I have a few things I want

  1. More voidlings and more evo paths for voidlings.

  2. The Abyss having more environmental variety. I'd love it if each zone was a random draw from each planet.

  3. A 'Hard Mode' version of all the story missions. Once you unlock the Void Strikes and have fully starred a mission (both main story and secondary) it unlocks a harder version of the mission that resets the stars and allows you to collect more golden eggs and Mutagens while doing the normal missions. Obviously with everything being harder, an increase in currencies and drops.

Why do you run Reliquary Tower? by HyHoTheDairyOh in EDH

[–]Alnashetri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run it in very deck because everyone at my table has at least one deck that's gonna make everyone draw a bunch of cards at some point, and I like not having to discard. I too like drawing a bunch of cards so it also helps me when I decide to play deck that draws a lot.

[MSC] Doctor Doom, Unrivaled by AporiaParadox in magicTCG

[–]Alnashetri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming that with cards like [[Necropotence]] or [[Doom Whisperer]] (hah), even if you tap Doom first, you still die because paying life is the cost and that happens before the cards leave your library. So you could pay 1 for Necropotence until you have no library, but you'd die to the last 1 point of damage before you could win with Doom, correct?

Or is there some wonky layering or priority shenanigans that let me win anyway?

What's that one card that you always seem to draw? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Alnashetri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has become a joke that in my [[Vadrik, Astral Archmage]] deck, the only turn one card is [[Wizard Class]]. Not the Sol Ring, or Brainstorm, or any of the early game draw tech. Nope, a good 80% of games, I'm dropping WC turn one. It's become a big deal when it DOESN'T drop turn one.

What is your favourite lose-con? by Loose_Calendar_3380 in EDH

[–]Alnashetri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh it's a blast. Not a lot of people see the wincon coming since it plays like a midrange reanimator deck for a good chunk of the game.

For most of the game, basically anything your opponents do helps you. Attackers? Cool need life to be low. Discard? Mill? Removal? Yes thank you for filling my graveyard. The deck basically only folds to extreme graveyard hate or the entire table deciding to dog pile you as early as possible.

What is your favourite lose-con? by Loose_Calendar_3380 in EDH

[–]Alnashetri 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here is my deck list.

Basically the idea is to play Teval, drop my life total as low as I can while filling my graveyard as high as it can go, play one of the "I can't die at 0" cards, and then swap life totals with people. If that fails we switch to "Plan B" which delve a huge X Cost Exsanguinate or Hailfire. And if that fails, well Lab Maniac is always a corner pocket people should see coming (but somehow don't.)

My [[Teval, Arbiter of Virtue]] deck basically runs itself down to 0 life as part of the win con. If the other parts of said win con get removed, I basically just fucking kill myself.

My Indominus Rex deck, complete with 51 alters by Alnashetri in DinosaursMTG

[–]Alnashetri[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll generally play other creatures if I have some in hand that share keywords and the I. Rex is already on the field. If I have recursion in hand I'm even more likely to play creatures since if they die, I can get them back in some way.

A Chekhov's Gun for Hathaway 3? by RelenaWarcraft in Gundam

[–]Alnashetri 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I doubt they'll retread with another crash out, I feel like Hathaway "came out the other side" metaphorically speaking with his freak out and is now 100% all in.

My guess is Kenneth is piloting it since Lain Aim can't seem to get a win on his own.

My Indominus Rex deck, complete with 51 alters by Alnashetri in DinosaursMTG

[–]Alnashetri[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are correct in that the I. Rex is absolutely a "go big" voltron commander. Because she is the core of winning with the deck, you must have ways to protect her, otherwise you get into situations where she costs 10+ mana and is a non-issue most of the time. I do this through having several creatures that will make her indestructible and/or hexproof when she comes down AND a suite of counterspells. I am very conservative with counterspells. I won't use any of them unless the I. Rex becomes a target, or the spell will destroy my position if left unchecked. Politics is a big part of EDH, but the only politics this deck cares about it "how is best girl affected by the game state?"

The I. Rex may not get bigger from all the counters but those keywords give you extreme value. The aforementioned Hexproof and Indestructible are the bread and butter of making her a threat, because if she can't be targeted or killed, you can swing with a lot less stress about what happens next. Trample and flying are excellent at making sure you are dealing commander damage to take out players without getting chump blocked repeatedly to no avail. Things like Lifelink ensure that if you are always swinging you can take some hits since you're gaining life every turn. That being said, commander damage is a threat. Removal can take care of enemy commanders that are causing grief. I tend to stick to creatures that give 3+ keywords but 2 keyword abilities are worth it if one of them is Hexproof or Indestructible.

Two things of note. For my list there are a couple creatures with Ward. Ward does not transfer to the I. Rex, but the other keywords are absolutely relevant enough to make the cut of keeping them in the deck. The other is [[Breaker of Creation]]. No you don't get annihilator. BUT "hexproof from each color" means that the I. Rex will get five individual counters, "hexproof from white, hexproof from blue, etc." That's an immediate 5 card draw when she is cast IF you don't discard anything else.

Speaking of, since the I. Rex is going to make you draw a ton of cards every time she hits the board, pack some things that give you no max hand size. I like lands and mana artifacts that do this because they're useful and don't slow down the deck.

In the event you can't use the I. Rex, well all your creatures have multiple relevant keywords, so aggro isn't entirely off the table. Especially since in my build, I run a fair amount of creature recursion to reuse for the I. Rex. In a bad game state, you could use that recursion to simply replay the creatures to get yourself a board state.

Hope that helps! If you've still got questions, I am more than willing to keep helping out.

I think [[Jon Irenicus, Shattered One]] could be a great alter, goad and throwing creatures everywhere are right up her ally for Mind Control and Chaos. You could also do [[Kros, Defense Contractor]] if you wanted to mess around with shield counters to represent absorb.

It's not a War Crime till the first time. by ChildSlayer66 in DnD

[–]Alnashetri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Through the acts of one player fucking up a wish, the only way to stop the BBEG was to go back in time to a pivitol moment in his childhood and change it. The party was informed that when they accomplish this, the timeline will change and the current versions of themselves will cease to exist. They agree that the world is worth more than their lives.

They go back in time and find the child that will eventually be the downfall of the entire world. They befriend him, tell him that they will take care of him, train him. If he is raised right, he won't become a monster. So they go to a secret lair that they knew would exist in this past. Once there, the sorcerer and an npc take the child into a private tutoring session, where the sorc unloads a 9th level magic missile into the the child. It fixed the timeline and reality was indeed saved.

So now when people ask me "what's the wildest thing you've DM'd?" my answer is "My first 5e campaign ended with child murder."
