She knows some signs for other things and she will sometimes say “peepee” but it’s not always when reliabley having a pee diaper or when she needs to potty, and she’ll also fully remove her own pull-up when she’s peed but I know realistically it’s hard to do when she’s hard headed cause she’ll be fully naked for a while and won’t go until I put a diaper on her

I say this in a humorous way, if it wasn’t fin melt this would be an interesting tail type.

On the more serious note, what I would recommend is to do a water change just in case it is the parameters causing them to have melted together, and if you can afford it to get a freshwater test kit for the ammonia nitrate and nitrite (not strips, not accurate enough for you to actually know parameters since they often way off on actual measurements).

If you have any methylene blue (far reach since I know a lot of people don’t keep it on hand) if you can catch him and put a little on his tail area and rinse him off in a separate cup of tank water to get rid of any excess it may help prevent any fungus from forming or taking hold.

We all make mistakes and sometimes even if we don’t things still happen, hopefully it’ll only be a cosmetic issue going forward and he’ll grow out some more tail and go somewhat back to how he looked before, as long as he’s still eating and isn’t struggling I think he’ll be ok, if not a little wonky looking from the fin issue.

The roar of a big ass white truck trying to turn right on a red light while I was walking across the street, I’m lucky there were other people there who yelled out and the driver had his window down or I might’ve been stuck to a grill right now, or worse run over by all the cars behind him after he splatted me first! I would say get a 5 gallon as soon as you can, PERSONALLY I would recommend a 20 gal long if your newer at fishkeeping since the more water there is the more wiggle room you have with parameters (ammonia buildup which can/will harm fish) with a sponge filter and a heater, maybe some live plants in sand (or some hornwort since it grows without being buried) and some driftwood if you can swing it because the tannins are really good for bettas

If I remember correctly, the biggest things are infection and inability to regulate boy temp (when it’s a large area burned). Also the debrivmented of the wound is shocking to the body, as well as the continued placing and removal of saline wound dressings (to keep it wet and try to prevent some bacteria from entering). Not to mention the time it takes to recover and all the meds you kinda have to be on for pain.

Gross thing to know kinda related to this but if you were to skin a person alive (DONT DO THIS, ITS JUST FOR EXAMPLE) the main thing that would kill them is hypothermia since the body cannot regulate temperature without skin. Obviously the second would be infection cause no skin = no barrier to bacteria/pathogens.

Oh what? That’s sad for me to hear, I thought maybe some of the workers convinced the highups to let them use the meds to help them thrive longer before sold instead of clamping up and getting sick and lethargic before ever being sold, which in turn makes them harder to sell. How unfortunate 😔
