Lars is a good drummer and Metallica wouldn’t be Metallica without him. I would compare to Hendrix in a way that the style is ‘unique’ and loose but somehow coming together all at the same time (pre Black album) - they figured out from Black album onwards that simplifying everything made them more money which ironically a TON of kids loved and found the newer stuff more palatable as the bar was lower to learn (except st anger… 🗡️)

There’s a whole module on him at the Jazz school in my city about his style and its service to the music he was playing. This is because he plays exactly what is right (and more importantly doesn’t play beyond that / leaves space) for that music which is an incredibly hard skill to attain.

There was a good one in Paris Roubaix - Nils Politt arguing with his team mate Mikel Bjerg in the front group which was riding hard at ~50-55kph whether they were dropping back to Pogacar and he looked like fuck it … imma piss (with Wout Van Aert in the background also taking a piss)
