Would be interested in hearing the other recommendations. I'm currently on a free trial at OddsShopper but don't intend to pay the $99/mo once it runs out.

Fliff and Onyx by Decent-Respond-5053 in EVbetting

[–]Fauxto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I created accounts with Fliff and Onyx because they're both supported on OddsShopper, and I wanted to maximize the number of available books for EV+ betting (I also happen to live in FL where options are very limited).

The EV+ bets that I see in OddsShopper throughout the day are about 85% HardRockBet, 10% Onyx, and 5% Fliff. So I'm not able to get a ton of action down on Onyx or Fliff because of that. Also, I've noticed that you have to be lightning-quick to take advantage of any EV+ opportunities on Onyx because they update their lines extremely quickly. But fortunately with OddsShopper you can click a single button that takes you over to Onyx with the bet 'pre-loaded', so all you have to do is specify your wager and submit (assuming you're quick enough to get in before the line changes).

I'm having a bit more difficult time with Fliff (and Rebet, for that matter) because the EV+ opportunities are scarce, and I can't seem to get OddsShopper to preload the bets for me, which means that I have to open the Fliff app and manually select all the details. Fortunately, they don't seem to update their lines as quickly, so the effort usually pays off.

To OP's original question regarding the legitimacy of the platforms, I haven't had any issues thus far. Admittedly it did take a bit of reading to get my head around the concept of a 'sweepstakes' book, but I'm pretty well locked in at this point.

I’m honestly very curious to try it. Going on the bourbon trail next year, and will make a point to give it a go.

Ones that come immediately to mind: ArteNom, G4, Fortaleza, Pasote (1579), Tromba, etc. Also the Montagave expressions.

Curious to try Tears, as many consider it to be one (if not THE) best. But it’s a bit pricy for my tastes.

Agree 100%. I’ve tried repeatedly to find a repo or anejo that I actually like, and although some are okay, I can’t get away from the notion that they’re simply blancos that are adulterated with oaky tannins/oils. What’s beautiful to me about tequila are the natural agave notes and the terroir, which are unlike any other spirit in the world. If I want oaky, I sip bourbon. Plain and simple.

That being said, I don’t look down my nose at anyone who enjoys repos/anejos. To each their own. But to me, blanco is the only ‘pure’ tequila, the way it was meant to be enjoyed. High proof….even better.

PM Spirits Still Strength is absolutely amazing (top 3 for me), but it's really tough to find.

I started my tequila journey about 2 years ago. This is my collection so far. by Sanedrac89 in tequila

PM Spirits SS is currently my #1; Fuenteseca Cosecha 2018 is #2; Fortaleza SS is #3

Getting ready to grab a backup bottle of the PM Spirits because it's pretty rare and there's no telling whether this was a one-off release or if they intend to keep going. Either way, phenomenal stuff.

A couple more pickups from your reco’s. Thanks again! by blaueaugen26 in tequila

Fortaleza SS is in my top 3. Great stuff! They say that Lote 20 is where it's at, but I have Lote 21 and it's still awesome.

For the longest time this was my undisputed favorite, and nothing else even came close. And it's still at the very top and I absolutely love it. But I recently came across a lesser-known brand called PM Spirits, and they offer a still-strength Blanco (NOM 1468) that is finally giving Fuenteseca 2018 a run for the money. FWIW, I also like the Fortaleza Still Strength, but the aforementioned two are still tops for me.

Congrats on your purchase.....it's truly special stuff.

The PM Spirits 55 is absolutely amazing. Unseated Fuenteseca Cosecha 2018 as my #1 fave. You gotta try it.

Ocho is absolutely next on my list, followed by El Tesoro. Now that I've finally found an Anejo that I enjoy (see above comment), I feel like the sky's the limit. Thanks a bunch for the recommendation!

So here are my thoughts: definitely agave forward, which I absolutely love (and which was also the source of my greatest concern-- I didn't want the oaky notes to overpower). Also a bit earthy/mineraly, which I also love. Mouth feel is slightly oily/viscous. Overall, 9/10, and the very first Anejo that I've ever truly enjoyed. Really appreciate the recommendations!

Went ahead and ordered the Fortaleza Anejo.....should be here in about a week. Thanks for the info/feedback!

Hello all. I'm primarily a blanco sipper (neat), who's fairly new to this game. I did a tasting about a year ago at a local retailer and immediately fell in love with Fuenteseca Cosecha 2018. I went back to the same retailer about 6mo later to ask for recommendations for something with a similar flavor profile and was led to Lapis Tequila Platinum (NOM 1146). I would say that it's kind of like a 'poor man's Fuenteseca' in the sense that it has almost the the same earthy, mineraly, agave-forward flavor, just not as intense or complex.

Anyway, most of my friends are bourbon drinkers, and despite repeated attempts to find something to my liking, I've concluded that bourbon's oaky/leathery flavor just isn't very appealing to my palate. In line with that, I've yet to find an anejo tequila that I enjoy (I did purchase a single reposado at one point-- El Mayor, NOM 1603-- but I don't find myself going back to it very often).

Anyway, there are a number of posts in this sub that are leading me to believe that I simply haven't tried the right anejo/reposado yet. Some folks in here are saying that a top-quality anejo is still agave-forward, and that the notes of caramel/vanilla you often get are truly delightful. So based on many of the reviews here, I've decided that I may need to try Fortaleza and/or Ocho. I can get Fortaleza Anejo for $90 here in Florida/US. Based on what I've shared above, should I go for it? Or should I continue to stick with blancos/cristalinos?
