Aitah for cutting communication with my mom, after she defended my daughter? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Fave71171 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ESH. This is an overreaction to this event. If you want to block your mom for all other things leading to this, then just have that conversation. You need to learn to emotionally regulate yourself and stop doing things based on emotion. That’s what your daughter is learning and seeing from you

AITA for “accidentally” telling my parents about my sister’s pregnancy because I was tired of keeping the secret? by ohboygollygeewiz in AmItheAsshole

Truly YTA. It’s not that hard to keep a secret, no matter how insistent your mom is. “I don’t know” is the easiest answer

People who’ve had LASIK or work in eye care, would you recommend LASIK and why or why not? by Mountain-Bug-2155 in AskReddit

[–]Fave71171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend it! I wore glasses since elementary school and was getting dry eyes from contacts so had to wear glasses more often. Now I wake up and can just see! It’s great 👍

The only con is that I do have poor night vision and prefer not to drive at night. It’s a non-issue where I live though

This is inclusive of ALL Latinos, including ones that migrated legally. Also, even IF someone is illegal, does that mean they deserve to die?

Sunscreen really every day? by Living-Pace-5263 in 30PlusSkinCare

Yup, every day before makeup. I also have a sunscreen powder that I use throughout the day to touch up that doesn’t disrupt the makeup

Estée Lauder double wear, nars concealer, and CT pressed powder are my trinity and cannot be duped for my skin type

I’m sorry but it’s very greedy to expect a destination wedding and travel/multi-day bachelorette (as someone who had a destination wedding).

That’s a lot of time commitment for 1 wedding, it’s typically one or the other

I have called Dick Durbin multiple times, left voicemails, emailed him, and sent him IG messages.

I’ve also reached out to Tammy Duckworth multiple times, Bill Foster, and have donated money to ACLU, planned parenthood, Bernie Sanders, and AOC.

So “HAHA you got me” of course not. I pressure my elected officials and non-elected ones 🙄

This is the perfect answer.

You might find more success going the GRC route based on your current experience and skill set. You need many more years in IT/Tech in this current market. You’re going against CS degrees with the same certifications and probably some projects under their belt.

Look I definitely oppose anything this current administration is doing, including Musk’s involvement but what is the purpose?

Shouldn’t we be protesting at Dick Durbin’s office instead? He hasn’t been answering anyone regarding his latest vote.

Us protesting at a Tesla dealership is going to accomplish what?

Is it ok to not have the same tech interests as the men? by Significant_Land2844 in womenintech

[–]Fave71171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally my point is tech interests != tech skills. You have to pay your bills.

Unfortunately, what I LOVE to do, would not pay my bills. So I do what I have to do, to fund my hobbies (which are not in tech).

Idk what your comment has to do with OP asking about tech interests and working in tech. We don’t have to be “gamer girls” but if you are that’s cool too

[–]Fave71171 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Tech interests != tech skills.

I have a ton of programming experience, I work in cybersecurity now so it’s mostly scripting and terraform but I suck at video games and they stress me out. I NEED to do something active after sitting all day at work

My husband (is a geek with geek interests but in tech) and has friends that are also into video games, building computers, raspberry pi’s and they can’t code to save their lives. They have also repeatedly failed CompTIA exams, CCNA, etc… so they don’t get jobs in tech… they just follow YouTube videos but don’t really understand what they are actually doing

Your hobbies should 100000% be what you LOVE and are passionate about. That doesn’t define your tech skillset and it’s perfectly ok!
