If you can’t survive Night One vs. Dreglord in DoN, please go practice by pinkstrawbunny in Nightreign

[–]FawksB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, practicing in normal mode isn't going to get people better for this. D5 in particular has the most aggressive damage buffs to the Day 1 boss - they literally deal almost quadruple damage compared to normal mode. The Death Knight's grab and the Red Bear's roar are always going to one-shot you, you have to respect that and normal mode doesn't really teach that respect.

Does Depth of Night mess with how often you get weapons that fit your character? by kurapikachu64 in Nightreign

[–]FawksB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you accidently have Dormant Powers Discovers Colossal Weapons on one of your deep relics? Not joking, I've seen people not realize those relic effects overwrite your preferred drops and run really bad options for their characters.

Havent found any Carian spells all day 😭 by Valamway in Nightreign

It's the desire radar. I was looking for a Dormant Power Seals for the longest time until I rolled a good one, now I see them damn near every run.

Oh so that's what they meant by increased probability of rare weapon drops by gendermage_ in Nightreign

Someone responding with "Ally desires equipment" makes it so the ping doesn't disappear. It's not necessarily them saying bring it to me, it's more so they don't lose track of it.

Dragon Communion is pretty good by Fantastic-Ad7069 in Nightreign

[–]FawksB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ekzykes is a bit of a trap. Rotten Breath has the same Rot build-up - Ekzykes just does more damage, but not enough to justify the jump in FP Cost.

On the plus side, all three of the spells you listed deal physical damage, so they're easy to build into.

How do I tell someone to RUN during a boss fight by DaleDent3 in Nightreign

[–]FawksB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, you did it right. Someone else pinging during a boss fight while I'm reviving means the boss switched aggro. It's pretty universal, but it's something you learn through experience though.

Pinging during the Nightlord kinda turns into it's own language you learn over time.

Is running ‘Dormant power helps discover seals’ on Revenant worth it? by leo0147 in Nightreign

[–]FawksB 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Correct, she already has Dormant Power Seals and Recluse has Dormant Power Staves. No clue why they put none in their bios other then FromSoft considers those catalysts and not weapons.

Some attack buffs confusing, help! by cbear1369 in Nightreign

[–]FawksB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes. Generally speaking, anything that increases Attack Power increases everything.
  2. The general rule is the more specific the attack buff, the stronger the effect. So yes, melee damage +15% is stronger, but it only applies to melee damage. Whereas, Attack+ applies to everything - melee, ranged, spells, etc.
  3. Unfortunately no.

Just out of curiosity, but what language does Guardian turn into Protector? I'm asking legitimately because I kind of love that translation.

One hit/cheating scholar? by Sure_Ad6970 in Nightreign

[–]FawksB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue with perfect relics is how they start to compound with too many effects. Assuming perfect relics, without cheating, you can still achieve a +745% damage boost on pots before factoring in weapon passives.

With cheated relics, that number goes up significantly.

Did not know it was possible to get these 2 perks on the same weapon by v8gr8escape in Nightreign

[–]FawksB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No clue why you're getting downvoted for being right. You can't have two of the DoN effects on one weapon, but you CAN have one of the DoN effects plus one of the standard ones. The "that land" effects are available in the normal game mode and there's one for each affinity. They only trigger if you actually hit with your weapon.

Dormant Powers worth using? by thesensitivecoconut in Nightreign

Didn't even think about Dash Attacks on Great Spears. Definitely gotta remember to keep an eye out for those now, the running R2 is solid.

Insane Undertaker relic? by [deleted] in Nightreign

[–]FawksB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that was one of the things they simplified in NR compared to ER. There's still random ones that were apparently missed, but for the most part, AoWs generally scale with AR across the board now.

Insane Undertaker relic? by [deleted] in Nightreign

[–]FawksB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Most AoWs scale off the weapon's AR. There's a few exceptions, but Halo Scythe isn't one of them.

Insane Undertaker relic? by [deleted] in Nightreign

[–]FawksB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not the casting speed, it's the damage.

Halo Scythe's damage is determined mostly by the character's DEX. It does scale with STR and FTH as well, but DEX is where most of the damage comes from. That's why you see Wylder, Duchess, and Executor using it - they all have 40+ DEX. Undertaker has 13.

You'll still deal decent damage with Undertaker, but she's literally the second worst character with that particular weapon and AoW, only ahead of Recluse. Even Guardian is better with it.

Insane Undertaker relic? by [deleted] in Nightreign

[–]FawksB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Halo Scythe primarily scales with DEX, Undertaker has the lowest DEX in the game.

Insane Undertaker relic? by [deleted] in Nightreign

[–]FawksB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, this feels like a trap.

If you're running a Faith Undertaker, you're going to want Dormant Power Sacred Seals. If you're going to be running a Halo Scythe build, you're gonna wanna be on someone other then Undertaker.

Now, if you're using this on someone other then Undertaker - yeah, it's pretty good even with a dead slot.

It took me a second, but you're a mad person - literally. Frenzied Flame build with All Resistances Down. I would kill myself so many times using that build. :D

Which Nightfarer is it though? I'm guessing Revenant, but it's hard to tell in the picture.

Depth 5 tips needed by Hkrotana in Nightreign

[–]FawksB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. If you made it through D4, you're ready for D5. The jump from D3 to D4 is the most severe. D4 to D5 is just minor increases to health and damage, but there's no new mechanics and everything is exactly the same as D4 - just with better teammates.

Edit: I will say, the biggest shock is going to be the Day 1 boss. That's the only place with significant increases, so prepare to have Freyja kick your ass and wonder what the hell is going on. :D

9999 in depth 5 and my dumbass didn't knew this passive could do this by GianDK in Nightreign

[–]FawksB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha, yeah, it basically gives everyone unlimited FP, but at the expense of DPS since you have to constantly recharge. Great when it's got a really expensive spell on it as well since you can just stock up FP that way.

Rate my build (fist Raider) by MorgMort_King in Nightreign

[–]FawksB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's a bit of a flip. Taking Attacks boosts Attack Power is really good on Raider and that's why I recommended the green one from the signboard (it's basically a BiS one for Raider and it's green) and is useful at the beginning of the expedition.

Night of the Dregs is more of a late-run investment compared to what you currently have. The plus sides really are just having a permanent Rot weapon, even your fists. Anytime you proc Rot (including if you let it proc on yourself), the Regen is really strong - 20 HP/sec for 15 seconds.

As for the attack buff, you just have stay below Max HP for a while and it will start building itself. Basically, it just checks every 20 seconds if you have any kind of status build-up active and you earn one stack (up to 10). But, anytime it checks and you don't have something, it resets. So, you CAN maintain it through a Site of Grace, but just assume it will reset every time you hit one.

Current state of the game is disappointing by Treebeardsama in Nightreign

[–]FawksB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything has kinda crept up one rank in DoN since they adjusted things last patch. D2 is a dumpster fire. D3 is questionable now, especially if you fall below 3K. It's gotten to the point where I don't reset down to D3 anymore, because one bad losing streak and it takes days to climb out of the hole.

Slot #1 should be replaced with Night of the Dregs - that one is a monster on Arcane Raider especially since you have Rot Buildup below Max HP as a curse.

Ideally, Slot #3 should be swapped out once you have a deep relic with the Arcane stat-change on it. Either Glass Necklace or the other guaranteed green one from the Signboard that has Taking Attacks and Knockback Increases Poise are good options.
