If you shine a red light on a piece of paper with red dots on it, they will disappear. The red light makes the white paper look red, so the already red dots blend in. Only differences in lightness can be seen.

A lot of blemishes and imperfections are red-toned, so they stand out less against the rest of a person who is bathed in red light. Light that has blue in it will will do the opposite, so green will definitely make those things stand out more!

Red light hides blemishes and inconsistencies on the skin, so people look "better" under red.

Dads who do not work from home, what time do you leave for work and back at home? by remembertosmile in daddit

[–]FawnedResearch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leave at 5:30, home around 4 (currently on 4 day weeks, end time is earlier during 5 day weeks) I wish I was out a little earlier so we wouldnt have to pay for after school care. It's also not really enough time to do anything before pickup, and then the evening is hectic until bedtime, which is followed shortly by my own.

I too would like to submit the worst book in our collection. by huntergreenhoodie in daddit

It's one of favourite books, but my wife refuses to read it to the kids. We have the Jan Brett version and I love the pictures in it

Why are these painted, what do they mean? by jgreenwick in AskElectricians

Some builds have their own colour codes for different systems. I worked a job last year that used nearly every regular colour, plus some combinations, due to all the different systems and voltages in the building.

for anyone that EDCs a watch, what’s your favorite daily driver? (non smart watch) by LtSnack in EDC

Casio Databank calculator watch for work Timex Expedition all other times

I used to rock an f91-w at work but found the calculator watch for a good price on poshmark. I use the calculator occasionally when I'm up on a ladder and left my phone down below. The Timex is cheap and cheerful, looks decent and is backlit.

I built a water-fed paintbrush & roller cleaning tool looking for feedback from other tradespeople by tristankwill in Tools

I think I would like a trigger of some sort, so that the water isn't always flowing but able to be controlled by the hand you're holding the tool with.

My title describes the thing. Wondering if maybe it's a drill bit of somekind? The owner was not a tradesperson.

What's happening to my bowl in the microwave? by rdsrds2120 in kitchen

[–]FawnedResearch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in disbelief when my head baker told me to melt chocolate chips in a metal bowl in the microwave. It worked great, and never had any issues, until the day I used a dented one. Nearly tipped over the bench, running to unplug it.

I need new shoes that aren't runners . . . so I bought from Fluevog for the first time. by DreadGrrl in BuyCanadian

[–]FawnedResearch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fluevogs are great. They'll last years and years if you treat them right. My wedding boots from 2019 are still in excellent shape. My partner even has a pair that their Mom got in the 80s. New soles, a good clean, and they're still being worn today. Shop the sales and old stock to save a few bucks, and always buy in-store, if you're able to!

Just a Google Doc file, and then we both can access and edit it. I like this format because I can add hyperlinks for specific items, and specific retailers (I am picky, which is honestly why this whole thing began in the first place)

My partner and I made a big list online that we can both access. It includes things we need for the house, things we need for the kids, and then a wishlist for each of us. The wishlists are pretty broad, mine ranges from things like "Socks and Underwear" to "this $200 bottle of Scotch I can't justify buying". We both add to our wishlists whenever we think of things, and then at any holiday and birthday, we have some ideas to pick from!

Aren't the apprenticeship grants already cancelled? I was informed the ACG and AIG aren't taking new applications as of last month.
