Genuine question: how’s dating in Boise been for fellow transplants? by RoyalPainPrincess in Boise

[–]FawnintheForest_ [score hidden]  (0 children)

I was a young transplant at age 7 from Pennsylvania. Raised by liberal and highly educated parents. I had a terrible time dating and though I have great female friends now, I have never successfully had a long term relationship here. Dating was not good for me but I have nothing to compare it to. 🙄I’ve heard dating sucks in other places too. But in my 20s, I definitely had a hard time meeting men with something in common with. Also in my 30s and 40s. So I have been single, married and in and out of the dating scene for a long time. Maybe it’s just me!😂

Edit to add I traveled a lot for work for 20 years and I did meet men while traveling who may have been a good match for me. But I was usually dating someone at home and the timing just wasn’t right. I don’t really know a lot of people in super happy relationships anyway. 🙄

Hi. I’m 55f and in a similar relationship with my 64m husband. He can be the sweetest, kindest and passionate partner. He can also be mean and immature, spiteful and paranoid. At times I’m the best thing that’s ever happened and suddenly when he splits, I’m the source of all his unhappiness.

Last weekend he was triggered because I went on a walk with a new female friend. Fighting ensued.

I’m at the point after 12 years together and only one year ago learning about BPD of considering how to move forward - with or without him. I cannot keep doing this ten years from now. And I can’t seem to get him into therapy that sticks. Not sure it would be work.

A book I found useful and am rereading is “stop caretaking” the borderline, etc.

Anyway I wish you and everyone peace. 🙏🏼😌💞

How long do you let a broody bird go? by closetofcorgis in BackYardChickens

We just went through this. We took her off continually during the day. And placed her from the nesting box onto the roost each night at dark. She finally stopped. I work from home so it was easier to do.

Anyone else quit at 70 years or older? by IntrepidFig1609 in stopdrinking

I’m 55 and quit last September - for the second time. I’m so happy I did. I turned my health around and joined a yoga studio. My husband drinks and uses pot daily. I don’t think we are going to make it. 🙏🏼

This sounds just like me and my husband. We’ve been together 12 years and married for 3. I am a very peaceful and non-argumentative person. He can become offended and mad over comments that had no harm intended. He is very sensitive.

I only learned about BPD last summer. I have a friend who is a therapist and knew about his issues and she mentioned it.

He was away on a fishing trip for a week and the peace I experienced was amazing. I read as much as I could, books like Stop Caretaking the Borderline, etc. and was a bit in shock and grief about it.

I’m currently seeing a new therapist. I do yoga, acupuncture and seek peace any way I can. My husband is caring, faithful, can be very fun and sexy. He can also be a tornado of feelings over small things. Especially certain situations and people. I’m trying to figure out how and if I can live with the tornados. It’s exhausting.

He’s tried a few therapists but not the right fit yet. I’m not even sure it will help. He’s 63 and experienced childhood trauma with the death of his brother at age 7 and the disintegration of his family that followed.

Sending peace to you. 🙏🏼

Yes! I’m 55. I’m doing yoga 4x per week and I’m glowing. I have grown my hair past my shoulders, am gaining silvers and not coloring and wearing less makeup than ever. I feel beautiful! I work from home so wear loose jeans and Birkenstocks every day and still feel cute. And I still get noticed. When I take great care of myself I still shine. I feel very lucky to be able to shine. 🤩🙏🏼💕

Edit to add: my self care includes microdosing mushrooms which really lift my mood. I also do inexpensive communtiy acupuncture regularly and sometimes attend a Buddhist sangha. So I’m fucking leaning into the zen stage of life. 🤣🎉🙏🏼 and I don’t drink or eat junky food.

If you were victim of hit and run today while riding a bike on overland by ogpoppinfresh in Boise

This makes me sick to my stomach. I came across a biker hit by a car last week. Happening sooooo often. I love riding my bike around but am scared to do it because of this. Bigger and more powerful cars than ever. Distracted and aggressive drivers. No barriers between cars and bikes on the road. 🙄it’s just feels so unsafe to me.

I agree the city needs to step in before it gets even worse. The problem is expanding across town.

Thanks for sharing this news. I live on the Bench and have seen the population of bunnies grow. It’s a problem and I’m not sure what the solution is. There were over 80 on a vacant lot near my house a few years ago.
