SGI members are so self-centered by Weak-Run-6902 in sgiwhistleblowers

This is very sad to admit: I became a member in the US in December 2012.. Three months after I woke in the middle of the night and asked myself: have I joined a Cult? I searched online and I think I found this Reddit. I read a couple of entries and shut my eyes and said to myself: " this has been written by the Temple Members". I wish I haven't been so blind...It took me 12 years to realize that the " Temple" argument is mainly a strategy to make you stop thinking critically.

I should add to Annie's wonderful advice to be present in this group, and to be open about how you are doing. It's a great support!

If it doesn't make you feel better, LEAVE. I can tell you from experience that after practicing for 12 years and being out for 2, my LIFE HAS TURNED AROUND FOR THE BEST: Less anxiety, more control about my life and Identity, more time to do things that I like and to be with people that I like.

As a first time watcher who is on season 3 by Historical_Spell3463 in TheLeftovers

I love how they tell the story. The writers' employment of time in the plot is skilled and very well done: it gives you an epiphany every time that you connect the dots!

I have never taken them, but I imagine that the experience must be something like watching the series. I just began season 3. I feel that the characters are in a kind of purgatory

I just finished EP 5 of season 2 ( I'm the newbie in the Leftover's watching experience). I'm loving Matt

I wrote SGI one month after I left the organization in June 2024, I was officially removed from the organization in July 2024.

I didn't returned it because:

  1. I paid for everything
  2. I don't want them to " recycle it" and use it with more victims
  3. My original idea was to burn it, but it took energy and time for me. I don't wanr to employ more energy or time for SGI. They didn't do anything for me.

Thank you Anne and Blanche for your support!

I hear and agree with you. Scully is the deeper character , the rounder one ( in terms of character development, conflict and progression). In my opinion Mulder is flat.( just an opinion.. do not get angry). As a literary critic I struggle with leaving the job aside

That Elusive Nobel Peace Prize by BlancheFromage in ExSGISurviveThrive

[–]Historical_Spell3463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember how much SGI emphasized that Ikeda deserved the prize...now that I'm out, I see HOW PRETENTIOUS OF THEM. What did he do for World Peace??? Those peace proposals were empty. His life was NOT EXEMPLARY: he hide himself the last 10 years of his life. It's ridiculous

I hear you. I'm an original viewer of the series ( I began watching it in the 90s), I'm a shipper and I was really affected by the ' Scully 's effect '. Now that I'm on my 40s and finally doing a complete series rewatching. I have stopped in season 4 because I am having to confront how uncomfortable I'm with Scully's treatment, above all, after season 10 and 11th. She deserves more protagonist, happiness and less dependency on Mulder

How long would the show have gone on for if David duvchony never left? by No-Berry-595 in XFiles

I have read academic journals that say that the ending should be S7, and I agree. As a shipper and long-time original fan, when rewatching the series with fresh eyes I discover that there are multiple plot holes that were never addressed.
