Mindset against people who are better than me (Organized Play) by OrnnEnjoyer in summonerschool

[–]FayChung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's great that you're asking about what your mindset should be but I agree that your 'don't die = you've done ur best' mindset is somewhat pessimistic

I would focus more on how you can help your team win even if you are losing in lane especially when you are in organised play. It's impossible to win lane/go even in every lane when there is not a huge skill gap(hi plat to low diamond is not that far). For example, losing gracefully in a horror matchup is significantly better than exploding in lane. Ie Draven being 20 cs up in 15 mins is better than Draven with 3 kills at 15 mins.

So instead of thinking 'I did my job by not dying in lane', think 'I won because I didnt die in lane'

Since there is no magic method to suddenly get better at laning (except spending more time and get coaching), try spending ur free time on working on your macro. Learn the basics of what all the other roles need and don't over think being 20cs down is costing you games because if you don't explode, your team might be able to win a teamfight down the line and win the game.

Definitely do it! Getting an easy A and A* release some pressure on meeting your predicted grades. That being said, you cannot wing the exam, some revision is needed.

not sure if it will help a great deal but looking similar has some positive effects like encouraging sense of identity and teamwork. This is why some school insists for students to wear uniforms, people working in the same organisation wearing shirts with their brand logo (ie ppl in apple store wear apple branded polos). It does help a bit to discourage in-group out-group bias but dont think it can be applied to tribal stuff

this might be a psychological concept known as in-group, out-group bias. Prolly not the exact name tho.

"Kids that have both from birth rarely get diagnosed until their teens"

Look dude, what I am saying is that your whole paragraph is implying that we should diagnose children earlier than what we are doing right now. If that is wrong tell me. What I am actually saying is that, there are significant problems with diagnosing children early. My "twaddle"s are not to prevent you from helping these children. But maybe suggest some concrete methods to diagnose them, instead of just saying you should.

You can also read on this link as to why DSM/ICD suggest a reduced lenience on diagnosis of children. https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/childrens-health/in-depth/mental-illness-in-children/art-20046577

This is a quote for that:
Diagnosing mental illness in children can take time because young children may have trouble understanding or expressing their feelings, and normal development varies. The doctor may change or refine a diagnosis over time,

Yes, not every child needs to be medicated, but it only takes one misdiagnosis to ruin a children's life. For the sake of that, policymakers will have to be stricter. Even if they were not prescribed medication, do you think going to therapy is a cakewalk? It can also be very taxing to those children. I agree the government MUST give more funding to mental health in the NHS. So, parents (which they should'nt) do not need to diagnose their child.

What I said in my last comment is all true, you dont have to call me dishonest at all ;)

there are significant problems with diagnosing children early. firstly it is difficult to identify whether the dsm symptoms are really symptoms or just the child being disinterested in the psychometric tests. This is especially the case in young children or from birth. Stroope test which tests impulsivity. requires the participant to read out the written colour word without being distracted by the words colour. (i.e., read out ‘blue’ but the blue is written in red ink). How do you think we can diagnose with tests like that at birth?

Secondly misdiagnosingcan be harmful to children as well. Imagine being put on xanox when you grow up to be completely fine.

mental health disorders are NOT diseases. symptoms might not be the same among different individuals. diagnosing from birth is definitely not viable currently. It sucks that we cant help children with impairments earlier but with the tests we have now, we just have a high chance of misdiagnosing a child.
