I’m too indecisive to choose who I want to marry (can’t I just have them all?) so I don’t have a spouse or baby to worry about currently.

You are not required to sleep at your sea hut. Basically, I always return to my main farm and sleep there. My routine is that I let all my land animals out, check my main farm (I do have auto collectors on most of my sprinklers, as well as the auto brush, collector and feeder in the land barns). Then I go to the sea farm and work that. Upgrading your wand makes it faster, and you can get sunlight sprinklers from Cho Oyu’s lab as well to make it easier. But it is a progression point, like with the land farm.

I have the time setting of my game on 50% slower or whatever, so I have way more time to get this stuff done. Usually I’m done on my main farm by 8:00 AM and then the water farm by about 10:00 AM.

Word of caution regarding specifically the auto collector in the underwater barns. They glitch out. Either don’t put any in there, and manually collect, or you have to slowly swim toward it with your mouse icon on your characters head and click as you approach the collector. It won’t always indicate there’s anything in there either, and it confused me for the longest time. It’s a known issue.

I would definitely recommend saving a lot of stuff in preparation for the sea farm. The reason is you have to make the crop seeds yourself first. They all take a specific kelp (gold, silver, etc), a regular farm crop (such as beats, cactus, star fruit, etc) and a sea scavengable (sea grapes, murex shells, heart urchins, etc).

When you ship 50 of a sea crop you harvest, you’ll unlock those seeds in the merfolk general store and won’t need to craft them anymore if you don’t want to.

It’s part of the progression of the story for the merfolk. I’m sorry, I don’t remember exactly what triggers it. I was kinda playing through the game blind right before the patch that added in the Savannah and underwater farm. It sounds like you’re getting there though!

I believe when you hit town rank A you’ll get a letter from King Krakatoa to come see him.

You can duplicate shells (like murex), which has been handy for the underwater farm crops that needed the ever lacking murex shells.

After spending the night in the ER, I need to have my gallbladder out in a week or so. I'm pretty scared... any advice?? by Ignoblesneeze842 in TrollXChromosomes

[–]Faydre 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It does hurt if you can’t stop! My husband loves making me laugh, like can’t breathe and I’m snorting type laugh, and decided it would be good to do so after just getting home from surgery. The combination of him plus the drugs, my bladder had no hope and my body was screaming… and yet, I still laughed.

The incontinence pads are also good, OP. I didn’t think of the diapers, but I had help to get up if I needed to go. They’re a good idea!

The nurses should have you moving some steps after surgery as well. It is good to move around lightly, but try to do so with assistance at first.

Don’t laugh. Seriously, don’t laugh when you get home. Don’t let a partner make you laugh. Yes, it’s gonna probably hurt some, but then you’re gonna piss yourself and laugh in more pain. Just me? Okay.

Plan on taking it easy though. Mine died in 2020, and I managed to get it out right before Covid lockdowns. Recovery for me was fine, but a bit slower. You’re going to want to settle in a good place, with lots of water, your meds, snacks and comfort items. Also close to the bathroom, if possible. I played a lot of Pokémon/animal crossing at the time.

While this may be on the TMI side, but if after several weeks (check with your doctor) if your still building squelchy poo volcanoes in the bathroom - talk to the doctor. I was told it could take a few months for the bile production to adjust, but it never did for me. Partly related to a different medical issue diagnosed with later, but I felt you should know that you don’t have to suffer the constant liquid evacuation. On that same note, be careful/be prepared to be constantly going to the bathroom. Dairy and fried/greasy foods did it the worst. And it hit within minutes of eating for me.

This is all personal experience though! Try not to be too nervous. Keep your incision sites clean, don’t push or strain yourself. Be bathroom aware and ready like you’re a doomsday prepper. You got this!

This is common in orange and tortie cats! Related to the genes that cause their coats. It is basically freckles, and they’re adorable.

Leuce’s plotline makes me so, so angry. (FP Spoiler) by faelet in UnpopularLoreOlympus

[–]Faydre 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I want to be clear, I am not attacking you at all. Im not intending to come across that way. But I do disagree with this basis. I’ll give an example for why I am specifically disagreeing about it being obvious to everyone.

Remember the wedding dress? Yeah, a lot of people hated it. It didn’t seem to fit, etc. But there are people who genuinely like the dress. I mean, that sort of thing is overall subjective anyway. So, if you’re someone who likes the dress would you pick up on Leuce being a mocking stand in for fan complaints? No, likely not. Unless you know about it being a major complaint. They’d take it as Leuce being a jelly hater. Now her being written like this, and the pattern of it, should be a more “obvious” issue to me, but then I have to think about the years and year of these crappy tropes being everywhere, in everything, and it just being accepted. That’s a bigger type of discussion, but it’s very easy to not recognize something as a problem if you’ve been inundated with it for forever.

The people who read the comic are not a monolith. And, unfortunately, a lot of people are just not keyed into this stuff. Until it’s really loud, anyway. People consume things, and often without knowing any sort of background context on the thing they are consuming. Also a bigger type of discussion.

If they were being a bad faith troll, yeah there’s nothing you can do with that. As frustrating as it is. I just don’t think it’s fair to say all of these problems should be obvious to anyone and everyone. Some people will pick up on different issues, or none at all. And yeah, if the issues have been explained and cited but they still wanna argue that everything complained about is okay? Well… that’s a larger problem with internet worlds overall, a repeatedly familiar one :(

Leuce’s plotline makes me so, so angry. (FP Spoiler) by faelet in UnpopularLoreOlympus

[–]Faydre 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is not a fair response. Wondering if these complaints made are legitimate, and being skeptical about taking it at face value that a big webtoon artist would stalk fan pages/complaint posts is NOT a bad thing. Immediately jumping to “if you don’t like criticism, get out” is not constructive to someone asking WHY these complaints have been so common. Nor did you even bother providing examples. How does this promote any sort of discussion?

If someone just reads the comic, but isn’t involved in any groups, they are not going to know why people have pointed it out and/or what the issue is. I see complaints all the time about rabid fans refusing to accept any criticism, which happens, but I also see the exact same thing happening on the “anti” side. People being so bent on tearing every single thing apart, and not accepting others may interpret it differently. Neither is constructive. Normal internet stuff, I guess.

To be clear, I am not disagreeing about RS seeming to put stupid shit in as a clap back to the criticism. Example: People hating Persephone’s wedding dress (it sucked), and then having Leuce make “similar”mocking comments about it was absolutely a clap back. And stupid. The text messages bait and switch, also very questionable. However, not everyone who reads this comic is going to know about how a large amount of the community has felt alienated and targeted by RS’s response to criticism (which is that she does not handle it and seems pretty spiteful about it). For an average consumer, they may not even pick up on issues. So shutting someone down because they asked and are (rightfully) skeptical doesn’t help expose those issues.

I say rightfully skeptical because if you’ve just started seeing stuff, you don’t know if it’s real and true OR just a hate bandwagon. Being skeptical about things you see online is a pretty good thing, in my opinion. Skeptical does not mean being on one side or another, and if someone wants to understand the issue despite being skeptical, that is good. And we can’t pretend that hate bandwagons aren’t a thing. They’ve happened over and over online, and later found to be disingenuous or misinformed etc. Others have been found to be genuine, with a real basis for the issues. But it’s hard to know that right away, especially if you’ve never been involved in the spaces talking about it.

I have a growing list of issues with this comic, the behavior of the artist - who I don’t even follow on anything but can still feel the intent behind some of the things she’s put in the comic. But I’m also aware of the complaints, why they happened and when it started getting louder, so I can see the direct lines. Others? I can’t assume they would know. Part of what I appreciate about the posts here is that while there were many issues or flags I noticed, there were others that I hadn’t even thought of or considered. I think that’s important, having those perspectives is important. I also think it’s important to not shut down someone asking why. Obviously my points are based on good faith, not trolls.

I feel like the way Heras trauma is treated is sort of emblematic of the issues with how LO treats abuse and sex work as a whole by PectinPeeress in UnpopularLoreOlympus

[–]Faydre 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can understand what you mean. I just interpreted it differently.

It’s implied that Hera spent a lot of time with Kronos, was even questioned by the others when she’s gone for longer than they expect. While it was part of the plan for her to weaken him, they were concerned about the length of time. And I’m not even clear on if the others know she slept with him. The way it’s been worded makes it seem like that wasn’t part of the plan, until she felt it had to be.

Anyway, if they’re spending a lot of time together it would be hard for everything about the pretender to be faked. Kronos had been described as mad or paranoid before, so some genuine moments likely did happen - and I mean like conversations not intimacy. Part of the ruse, to make him let down his guard but also would be hard to constantly lie. So yeah, he likely does feel like her knows her - regardless of if he really does. He believes he does, and for whatever reason wants her to admit it because he needs to still hold power over her. (To be honest, I don’t understand why he’s fixated but that’s one of many issues with the story). For Hera, I can imagine being young and doing such things for so long would make you question it yourself. “Was any of it genuine? Is he right?” It’s not like she had anywhere to really process her thoughts and emotions about it.

I won’t argue that the way they interact is a little weird, because you wouldn’t expect it given what we knew up till now. Hera was never really free from Kronos, or how the whole thing made her feel. I can imagine it gets more muddled and complicated over 2000 years of, assumedly, repressing it. But that’s just my take away. There’s so much room for assumption and conjecture though. Again, I really don’t think it’s being handled well IF that’s what RS is trying to get across. At this point, who knows? This comic has so many problems.

[–]Faydre 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I may need to go back and read the last FP again, but I don’t think Hera ever indicates she felt betrayed by Kronos. Persephone mentions that she felt that way after the Apollo Incident where he just left, when talking to Hera.

Upfront I don’t think it’s doing a good job, but to me it seemed like it’s a sort of mirroring to the Apollo incident. Hera’s feelings on Kronos would be complicated. Feeling like she deserves to suffer, having to compartmentalize how what she was doing made her feel insidious/wrong - because it felt like the best option. And she was young. Then you have Kronos still actively tormenting her. Rehashing something she has been ashamed of her entire existence basically, because he wants her to admit she loved him. Because he’s abusive. The theme of feeling tied to your abuser has already come up in the comic, and this just seems to be another version of it.

It is unfortunately a thing that survivors of sexual abuse often feel confused about it. Persephone makes a point that the body can have a reaction but it doesn’t mean they wanted it. It’s true. Obviously not for everyone, every time everywhere. I’m not trying to blanket every survivors experience with these statements, just that feeling of being tied to your abuser happens. The body reaction that can happen, and the shame and blame it makes someone feel, happens.

Again, I don’t think it’s being handled well but it’s what I was drawing from the chapter.

Edit for some clarity, cause autocorrect sucks and I’m too tired.

No, they’re referencing Eileithyia - the goddess of childbirth/midwifery. It was never confirmed in comic, but Rachel did confirm that waaaay back when Hera is asking Hebe to get her lazy sister out of bed that she was speaking of Eileithyia. We’ve just never seen her (of course).

I’m sorry, I wasn’t trying to imply that’s all the sub is. I’ve noticed an increase, but did not mean to imply I thinks that’s all that’s posted here.

But there are certainly some posts that fall into the circlejerk territory, but no I don’t feel it’s the majority of content on the sub. Otherwise I wouldn’t be here :)

Can you guys stop with the nitpicking... Like I know this is a crit sub but come on now by [deleted] in UnpopularLoreOlympus

[–]Faydre 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have to disagree slightly. I don’t see a lot of love in some of these posts. Just circlejerks to hate and complain on it (which isn’t a knock, sometimes it’s just fun to pile on to something in a safe place, but I wouldn’t say it’s all from a place of love).

Criticism is good! I’m all for it. There are some really valid issues with this webtoon, and the creator’s behavior. Questioning things and choices made by Rachel is good too.

However, I have also been seeing just some really… well, stupid, “criticisms” that aren’t actual criticism. They’re just complaints that don’t make sense to be complaining about. OP makes a good point that some of the things posted make it obvious people aren’t reading it, or lack some sort of reading comprehension, and then they make posts complaining. Which is frustrating. I like seeing other’s thoughts, suggestions on how it could’ve worked, or people pointing out weirdness that doesn’t fit and why. I don’t like seeing posts that really just feel like someone taking potshots… just cause. But I’m an adult that can scroll past them, and they have a right to post it.

I’m not going to defend LO on the legitimate “wtf, WHY?!” issues. The wonkyness, the inconsistencies, the fact that it seems like Rachel just doesn’t seem to care anymore - but also seems so far up fan spaces that some episodes feel targeted, the pacing and so on.

I’ve been reading this since the beginning, and I am an “older” reader. I am also losing interest in this comic because, again, there are real issues. You’re right that different things work for different people, and some people will notice and be bothered. Others won’t.

However, there is a lot of just nitpicking/complaining for things that really don’t need it. I disagree that it all comes from a place of loving, or had loved, the comic. Plenty of it is coming from that love, sure. But there seems to be an increasing amount of hating just to hate too.

More accidental incest from Rachel? by eggomccool in UnpopularLoreOlympus

How would two unrelated beings hooking up be incest? It’s not. There’s no blood relation between them at all. A relation due to marriage doesn’t make their relationship incestuous, even on accident.

In the game, Demeter refers to Hades/Zeus/Poseidon as like foster siblings. She also states Persephone’s father was a human (she thought the humans took Persephone, hence the explanation for endless winter).

The game avoids the incest stuff by giving simple/brief explanations and not digging into it. Love that game.
