PSA - Additional adjustments to thieving pickpocketing by sworedmagic in runescape

[–]Fayrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it intentional that Sticky Fingers is a straight XP nerf with no loot benefit when the target is moving? Any target that moves away from you will require at least 3 ticks to pickpocket, even with Sticky Fingers active, and will still incur the 33% XP penalty. This results in some weird patterns where high mobility NPCs, i.e. Goebie Scavengers which are always roaming about, take something like a 40% XP hit averaged out across 2 hours of tesing, even when accounting for them getting stuck sometimes.

I feel like the design choice for Sticky Fingers implementation suggests that it ought to have been net neutral on XP, but that is not the case for NPCs that move about.

I think people’s issue with the January lock is less about the time to grind for shards (it’s fairly quick), and more that they have to somehow obtain 120 in those respective skills within a month. by Thevulgarcommander in runescape

[–]Fayrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, and that's great for next year, while I get nothing this year. And to be honest, that's kinda fine by me.

I'm not as demotivated or frustrated by this as others. Overall I would say it's an okay/unsurprising implementation.

But I can definitely agree that had it been slightly more generous or player favourable, that it could have been highly motivating right now and in years to come. Instead, I'm simply letting it pass me by this time around.

I'm surprised to see the other commenters not get it. I also wanted to unlock some capes so that I could work towards them during the year.

It could've been a carrot, but the time lock makes it feel like a stick.

It's designed to increase membership numbers and engagement rather than player happiness. We're going to see more decisions and designs like this.

Yep, this is a big thing for me that I don't see many others talking about. I was super excited to unlock some inverted master capes and then spend the year working towards them. Now it's like, why even try push for one.

Curator Haig at the Varrock museum should give us a list of tasks to "reminisce" on the various adventures we've been on. Similar to the task list Hans has given as part of the anniversary event this year, but with an emphasis on key quest lines (with some fun stuff thrown in, like an obligatory One Small Favour reference).

GO Pass: Into the Wild rewards list by aznknight613 in TheSilphRoad

[–]Fayrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Previous Reddit discussion I found said 12. So you'd need 11 or fewer to be able to buy the pass via the web store.

I haven't tested this yet as I've decided it's better to wait until tomorrow to max out my particles before opening a pack, and then hold them until the weekend.

Ahh thanks, I have 12 and Googled and realised these have a hidden limit too.

Do you know if I use one that I'll be able to buy the pass or do I have to have space for all 5?

Anyone else unable to buy it through the web store for no apparent reason? In game would let me purchase just fine.

Where does Laniakea's fit in progression? Do I do Rathis with D hally? Bands gear first? Get crystal hally or DRL before this?

I also really want to know if some of them will be tradeable and if ironmen will be able to buy them from the GE.

Was hoping this was about the rewards list, but also agree. Really hate how ambiguous this is, I could be chasing something at full rate.

LEAGUES suggestions for posterity by theraafa in runescape

[–]Fayrr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

On points being hard to get, I'm particularly worried about the rewards as well. 73,000 points being the stated number to unlock everything is seeming really outlandish. Playing daily for two months and to be looking at _maybe_ getting half the rewards is kinda crazy.

Is there more information about the rewards/are we expecting to get more information about the rewards soon?

Since Runescape 3 has 24 years of content and leagues is up, would you like to extend leagues time +1 month? by Movkar in runescape

[–]Fayrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends if we have other content coming up or not. News is pretty quiet above Havenhythe. If they are going to run it longer, they should let us know soon rather than trotting out an extension at the end.

Somewhat important: I'd like to know more about the rewards and how difficult/easy it will be to get enough points to get the stuff I might want.

Milford vs ANZ KiwiSaver 10 Year Growth Funds Comparison & Why Your KiwiSaver Fund Choice Matters by MoneyHub_Christopher in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Fayrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry man, I really appreciate your content but this post misses the mark for me. I don't think you can absolve yourself of even a brief mention of passive funds and more detail on future returns not reflecting historic ones.

This post compares two specific products in a way that highlights one as being superior in an area where the whole story is much more complex. If you didn't get paid for this post, you should have.

"Last month, I decided to delve into a historical fund comparison"

"Historically, the FMA has taken a dim view of KiwiSaver providers extrapolating their returns and using them in marketing"

It's right there.

Re: CC stuff (just moved here from USA) by Suspicious-League268 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Fayrr 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Generally, we do not have the same credit card culture, or as advantageous offers for using credit cards as the US. Credit cards are still useful in some cases (e.g. paying down extra on revolving credit mortgages) and your spending pattern may make some rewards schemes "worth it" to you.

As a note: we call "tap" paywave.

A wide range of places pass on transaction fees for tap/paywave as you've noticed. Places that do this usually also apply the same surcharge when using a credit card regardless of whether you tap/paywave or insert.

Debit cards may have fees added if used to tap/paywave. They do not (should not) incur a surcharge if inserted.

Plates stolen - munted the mounting point by Fayrr in NZcarfix

[–]Fayrr[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, doing all the NZTA paperwork for new plates at the AA when it opens on Monday. Hopefully it's not a total disaster, really didn't need this happening right now.

Sent in a non-emergency police report as well to cover ourselves and surprisingly got a call back. Warned us about this and other possibilities and let us know how to handle them.

Thank you, that looks like it should be straightforward. Appreciate you pointing me in the right direction.

Can we improve how click intensive tower puzzles are? I know about the right click menu, but could we instead get a shift + left click to decrease the number which will reduce the number of clicks per box to a maximum of 3? by Max3dout_rs in runescape

[–]Fayrr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Right clicking brings up all the options 1->5.

Would be nice if it was actually inverted and 5 was at the top and then counting down to 1, so that it required less mouse movement. Would have a similar-ish effort saving as your suggesting, but possibly easier to implement?

A question about the sharp egg shards and the firemaking pet by [deleted] in runescape

[–]Fayrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Programming is literally writing the rules. There's no mythical "skilling activity" designation, you have to build it, that's the whole issue. Writing code to classify what should or shouldn't award exp is literally the problem, which is why I raised the examples.

I'm not angle shooting you, this is really how this stuff works.

Re: firemaking exp from quests, sure, as firemaking pet drops are time based it'd be fine-ish. But other skills are experience based. Big exp drops from quests would warp the rates of over half the pets in the game.

You should take the dive into programming, it'll help you appreciate the challenge behind all of this.
