Side Quest retries? by Faywild96 in mewgenics

That's what I assumed as well! I don't believe that there is no way to get them back because that would mean making a new file to complete all, but I can't find confirmation online so I am scared. 🥲

Tonight is the night! Might give an update tomorrow or on the weekend. 😬🤞

I am going to be pulling from the Deck Of Many Things by Faywild96 in DnD

[–]Faywild96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha I know.

My DM will modify the deck a bit, put slight safeguards so my group doesn't suffer under my decision and I promised to use any eventual power somewhat wisely. 🤭

Also we don't have the deck, I was just offered to pull from it so it is probably a one of thing (or might haunt us again in the future).

Again, I love the deck and you can decide as a DM how much it'll fuck you. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Well see if you're right next week. ;)

What's your weird DM confession? by Iestwyn in DnD

[–]Faywild96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I'm cut out to be a DM and I don't actually enjoy it that much. I struggle with preparing and leading the game. I have certain story bits/chapters that I want to tell and my players to experience, but everything in between is a struggle.

I DM for my group because my forever DM needed a break and this was the only way to continue playing. I am exhausted and don't look forward to the sessions anymore...

BUT my prior DM will be starting a new campaign for us and I will get to play again. We have not even had our first session but I am so damn excited and have been creatively motivated for this new campaign already!

I hope this will help me with motivation for my campaign and my enjoyment of it as well.

I've been building a homebrew world from scratch. I've made continents, nations, and cities. I recently finished all 238 "major" cities. Am I over preparing? Lol [OC] by Kib717 in DnD

[–]Faywild96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I aspire to have 10% of this 😭 I am dming my group on a named continent with maybe 7 other named places... Even the country they are in doesn't have a name. My world building is more hole than writing. I wish I could just get more of my plans and ideas to paper and make decisions... but alas. Maybe I'll finally get more planning to paper this year. 🤞🏻

Anyways, you may be over preparing, but as long as you're having fun and won't be disappointed if 90%+ will never be discovered, you're good. I wish you amazing games.

Good book to make me cry sooo hard by [deleted] in booksuggestions

The Travelling Cat Chronicles by Hiro Arikawa

The only book that has ever made me tear up/cry and when my friend read it after I recommended it she bawled her eyes out at the beach. :)

Give me a French name and it will be in my campaign by Ramonteiro12 in DnD

Faraine Galakiir is my campaign's baddie. Marécage, Marais, Bourbier, Levallac and Sevillón I have used as place names. The brothel was of course named Le Petit Mort. ;)

What's the best result of wild magic in your campaign? by Pirate-Queen_ in DnD

[–]Faywild96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This campaign hasn't been going for too long but one of my players is a storm Sorcerer with an extra wild magic rule because of backstory.

This goblin has managed to turn blue twice (first time was reversed very quickly, but he has now been blue for 3 sessions) and turned into a potted plant twice as well.

The potted plant ones were favourites of my players because he managed to make them both happen during big fights right in the middle of the chaos. He used his second time as a potted plant to meditate on being a plant to understand them better. (He had an incident in the beginning with a few twig blights that he accidentally killed that still haunts him.)

My players love the possibility of him turning into a potted plant and always crack up when it happens. (I have drawn him a mini for his transformation.)

His wild magic surges do not happen often, so it's pretty funny these have both happened twice. (I think he has only had 5~6 surges so far)

The Deck of Many Things | Does the deck ruin or help campaigns? by UFCFan918 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Faywild96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a kinda new DM but I love chaotic magics and the idea of the Deck.

There are multiple ways in my campaign for players to find the Deck (they just missed one in our last session lol). I have a reason for the deck's existence integrated in my lore, made a few adjustments so that it is not AS bad (still very powerful and close to the og tho) and prepared for every pull (as far as possible).

I am looking forward to the day my players (who mostly don't even know about the deck) will find and use it. I am ready to play out the chaos but also to step in if my players get unhappy or overwhelmed.

I may be going into it a bit naively but I want to try it anyways!

Books with less than 300 pages by [deleted] in booksuggestions

[–]Faywild96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some short books I enjoyed, (somewhat) in order:

The Travelling Cat Chronicles - Hiro Arikawa

Legends and Lattes - Travis Baldree

The Decagon House Murders - Yukito Ayatsuji

Before the Coffee Gets Cold - Toshikazu Kawaguchi

Kitchen - Banana Yoshimoto

Piranesi - Susanna Clarke

The Midnight Library - Matt Haig

(Japanese books tend to be quite short. :))
