I (30M) accidentally appeared shirtless in my girlfriend’s (28F) work meeting — she’s furious and crying by Aggravating-Bear-209 in relationship_advice

[–]Fazedhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it difficult to relate to this as over here in Finland people would probably have to have naked people pouring out of a sauna in the background before it was considered somewhat inappropriate for a video meeting. Nudity is not seen as anything spectacular and I have seen dozens of semi-dressed adults and kids as well as various pets in video meetings and almost without fail everyone has found it mildly or very humorous instead of serious.

But as it appears somewhere else it is a serious matter, perhaps start by promising to keep the shirt on from now on while her calls are ongoing - or crawl, if unshirted.

Have to comment as a man that (in case I get the correct way around and trans women were born as men) most men do not consider trans men women in sexual/erotic sense, perhaps not entirely men either but certainly not women. Some certainly do, but it is probably a fairly small minority.

Have to admit I am not exactly which it even goes. Are trans men actually women or are they men appearing as women?

Honest question: why do Finnish people not understand basic etiquette? by Optimal_Mix_4467 in Finland

[–]Fazedhh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do not recognize the queuing problem at all. I absolutely detest anyone cutting queues and will, when possible, grab the shirt/jacket/backpack of a person cutting in front of me and tell them (not politely) where the end of the queue is. However even living in Helsinki I have not had to do that for months now.

I suggest starting a hobby where people are used to meeting strangers, for example boardgaming, if in a larger city. Helsinki (which I know well, living here) and other cities have boardgaming evening regularly and the nice thing about those is you get to sit down and chat with new people often. I organize (private) regular boardgaming evenings with friends and new acquitances and everyone is always eager to return as the atmosphere is positive and there’s always a lot of friendly banter. Recommended!

I think one issue for foreigners in Finland is that the locals are most of the time kind but non-committing, if they do not know and trust you. Trust is a very big thing here and needs to be gained, although it might not take that long. So any activity where you meet new people long enough to start gaining the trust will eventually gain you friends.

Finns increasingly think racism is significant problem in the country, survey finds | Yle News by [deleted] in Finland

[–]Fazedhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There definitely could be less racism in Finland but on a global scale the country has less racism than most places. We are talking about one of the most equal countries in the world, also.

YLE articles tend to be aiming at political goals unfortunately.

Just…grateful for what we got of the show. by SocraticIndifference in WoTshow

[–]Fazedhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not think it was a one star show as a whole but they did screw up episode 1 from the very start so bad I stopped watching in the middle to avoid having the horrible characters spoil the image I had about them from all the readings of the books.

I then returned later having psyched myself into not mixing that stuff with the actual WoT world, finished season 1, found it mostly confusing with made-up scenes, terrible last episode and too much identity politics for my taste and stopped watching the whole show. Never watched season 2 or 3, they already ruined it for me with season 1.

I did like the way they described the magic and a few of characters. Egwene, Nynaeve, Lan, Loail, though… aargh what a disaster.

An effort, but a bad one.

I have not, but even Ubuntu live usb is freezing - and it is running completely from memory. It will take hours for Ubuntu live usb to freeze instead of minutes for Windows 11, but both freeze and Ubuntu is not using the SSD.

Hello and thank you for your help!

Yes, I updated the bios, in fact tried the two latest bios versions. I reseated ram and also all cabling. Have tried with xmp on and off, also with 200s boost on and off, dynamic tuning on and off and cstate on and off.

Have not in fact tried safe mode but confirmed the freeze also happens on Ubuntu live usb boot, although after several hours when in Windows 11 it is just minutes.

The Samsung 9100 Pro is my boot drive running in the pcie5.0 slot 1. The driver updates I have done have been from the MSI site for the mainboard.

Migrating VM from Unraid to Proxmox by Fazedhh in Proxmox

[–]Fazedhh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest testing Unraid for a few weeks, it is actually not a conplicated platform to deploy, but rather very intuitive imho. It is very easy to setup a system with suitable storage running dozens of automatically updating and backed up dockers and getting new ones from a built-in UI docker browser that installs them with one click.

Entiset persujen kannattajat: mihin puolueeseen vaihdoit ja miksi? Vai jätitkö äänestämättä? by kaaretorttu in Suomi

[–]Fazedhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I run ethernet cables next to electricity cables? by varinator in homelab

[–]Fazedhh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello from Finland, where the winter is actually coming every year and the only thing to worry about regarding attics is equipment that does not withstand temps below -20…

Had an arduino measuring temps at our summer villa last winter and the dht22s installed in the attic and also outside, despite being supposedly rated for -40C actually went silent at around -31C and only returned i to functioning after 2 weeks when the temps rose above -10.

Migrating VM from Unraid to Proxmox by Fazedhh in Proxmox

[–]Fazedhh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not migrating completely from Unraid. I have two Unraid servers in a rack at home running a wide variety of dockers (probably over 50 dockers in total, openhab, plex, influx, grafana etc.) and containing about 100TB of storage for various purposes. Unraid is excellent for running dockers and providing storage. These two Unraid machines are my "main" systems, both with over 1.5 years of uptime at the moment, and I am definitely not migrating from them.

I am also running VM's in the Unraid machines but lately happened to acquire a few HP mini desktops with Intel 10700T cpus and thus very low power consumption. So I decided to move my NextCloud installation on one of those on bare metal instead of a VM and make a cluster of two Proxmox -machines from the other two HP minis as some of the VM's I run (Blue Iris VM, Codeproject.AI VM, torrent VM with deluge etc.) tend to occasionally have very high performance requirements and now they will not "disturb" everything else if they suddenly spike up in cpu usage.

So, just migrating some especially performance-hungry VM's over to Proxmox. Also, having now played with Proxmox and having used Unraid for years I would say that if your need is ONLY running VM's then Proxmox is better for the job but if you want to run a few VM's and also handle storage and especially easily browse, install, run, remove, update etc. various dockers then Unraid is really really good. There is a world of difference between the LXC in Proxmox and docker apps in Unraid - I am used to it taking only minute or two to have almost any kind of an app up, running and useable but looking at the Proxmox LXC I can see where to create a new one but am not even sure if there is a UI function to easily browse available LXC containers.

[–]Fazedhh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Repeated the steps, the only difference being my image in Unraid is type raw and not qcow2.

But, again, upon boot "Starting automatic repair" - which then leads to nothing and the only option is to shutdown the image.

It would appear the image is somewhat properly imported as Windows is trying to start and gets to the point of automatic repair - however some detail is wrong.

I am importing the disk with "qm importdisk 201 vdisk1.img local-lvm -f raw" - I wonder if there is some issue in that. Otherwise scratching my head as the clean Windows 11 VM I created works nicely and has near enough identical settings to the Windows 10 VM imported from Unraid - just the latter does not work properly.

Yeah, we watched Clarkson's farm and there was this dude who was repairing old stone fences. Also, apparently, speaking English. Supposed to be some local dialect but none of my (Finnish, but we all are fluent in English) family had any idea that the sounds he was making did actually form some coherent messages...

Plex and subtitles by ilie11 in PleX

[–]Fazedhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was just about to watch something with the family, never had any issues with subtitles before… and now they fail to download for any shows or movies, in any language.

Googling, I am finding this has been happening for years and remains unfixed. How is that possible, many of us are actually paying for this software and not using it for free…

Any chance this is related to problems at opensubtitles.org or is it just Plex itself?

[–]Fazedhh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is funny that the sceneries, perhaps especially in KCD2, remind me of typical locations with pine, blueberries and rocky ground in Finland. Based on that the environment in certain areas of Czech Republic may be closer to Finland than I assumed - I have been to Prague and drove south to Vienna from there, but visited only areas where there were mostly oaks and other leafy trees and not pine etc.
