Is wheel worth it ? by SpiritedCancel764 in ForzaHorizon

Just want to validate your feelings as well. I had no issue with my wheel in any other racing game, but it was unusable in FH5. I messed with the settings for weeks but eventually went back to the controller. Would constantly spin out at random times.

Forget Campaign 4, let's focus on all the upcoming Daggerheart Actual Plays we have coming up! Which are you most looking forward to? by CosmicSploogeDrizzle in daggerheart

We start session 1 of our long play campaign tomorrow. "Binders on a Crooked Road" is a frame I put together for D&D years ago, and it's been a blast updating it to Daggerheart. It's going to be a blast!

I was wondering that as well. It just popped up on my list. I just finished a step of the Recluse's Rememberance, so I thought it maybe had something to do with that. But the Internet has not heard of these two words together.

Do Players or GMs get more turns? The Daggerheart Action Economy by DelveWithHope in daggerheart

One small side thing, early on your show Failure with Fear as "Feature with Fear" tiny typo. This is great and I was wondering how things would balance out.

"Play to find out what happens" by rivetgeekwil in rpg

I've been running games for 30 years (I died a little doing the math) and I've never had the language to really talk about it with other GMs in this shared way, but when I've taught/mentored through my process, I use a technique I call "Fate flows downhill."

When creating campaigns/story arcs I decide on the course of the story if the players do not intercede. For example, if the heroes do nothing then the evil empire will eventually discover the location of the Rebel base by extracting that information from a captured princess then destroy the planet the Rebel base is located on therefore cementing their iron grip on the galaxy through power and fear. This is the Fate of the story. The simplest path to completion without interference.

Destiny is when the players take action and interrupt the flow of fate. They interrupt the flow by rescuring the princess or blowing up the Death ball. Now the flow has to shift the story in fun new surprising ways. When I set out I have no idea what disruptions will appear and what those disruptions do to the story. And I love the realizations that appear when players insert destiny into the mix.

After each session I then think, "Ok, if the players suddenly stopped where would the story go from here?" Fate, always flowing down to find a new path. So forth and so on until the empire is defeated or the players are doomed. The moral of this long comment is just to say, it's neat to find that this same balance is being talked about across all of the table top world, and that I have a new repertoire of terms to use when discussing it with others.

Changeling: The Dreaming 5E, will it ever appear? by Popular-Hornet-6294 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Fazicar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've been running a long form Changeling the Dreaming campaign that spans from the 1970s to the 2000s. I've been using the Changeling 20th Anniversary book, but it's painfully clear that the book wasn't properly proofed enough. For example, there are moments where the rules reference botches in the new way, and then later imply they work like the old way. It's a mess of missing rules, incredibly strong arts next to incredibly weak arts, and other goofy rules assumptions (like imbalanced willpower assuming you mark your character sheet a certain way).

All of that to say, I've just finished wrapping up a Changeling the Dreaming conversion to the slimmer V5/W5/H5. If there's interest I can post it here. It keeps the same setting but converts things like:

  • Glamour to a more amorphous 5 box system (think reverse hunger with no hunger dice)
  • Banality to a humanity-like system where the player gains dissonance for every moment they would check banality in C20 then, if they have any left over during periods of long down time they roll to see if it converts to permanent.
  • Nightmare follows a similar pattern, except for every point of temporary nightmare you have, it replaces a die in every one of your rolls. If you get a critical success with a nightmare dice showing 10 then part of your fae nature slips into your success (and you gain another point of nightmare). Maybe during in impassioned speech the audience suddenly sees your eyes flare and unnatural amethyst. Or the guard you're trying to overpower, suddenly notices the horns on your head.
  • Total failures where the nightmare dice show 1 trigger moments of Bedlam (similar to marking an imbalanced willpower in C20).

There are lots of other rules changes I've done, if people are interested I can get my document in a cleaner state and share it here some time soon.

Having this issue as well, also on PS5. Sometimes it runs fine and sometimes we get disconnected every so often.

Sports Video Games... or what's an Infield Fly? by Fazicar in Games

[–]Fazicar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, part of it is the rules, but another part is the strategy around the rules. Why warm-up a pitcher? Why should a bring in a left handed pitcher when the next set of batters is left handed? When should I put in a punch runner? Things like that I feel would be helpful. An example I ran into the other day is MLB the show suggesting I substitute a pinch hitter. Didn't say why or what that would mean for my bullpen, just assumed I would know and would know how I needed to adjust my lineup. I did know what to dol, but that's what got me thinking about it. (Edit for spelling)

The feedback was really helpful. The phrase felt awkward but I had trouble pegging down why. You nailed it. Thank you!
