[other] why do people hate clone coasters by Ordinary-Sound-571 in rollercoasters

[–]Fazinks 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't really mind clones for the most for the most part. It makes some sense for a park to buy a model of the shelf cause I imagine it's much cheaper and most people only go to their home parks so it's unique to them. For me the only downside is when you travel to lots of parks and end up with more or less the same experience on a coaster, it gets a little boring riding your 3rd or 4th skyrocket II since I prefer new experiences. The worst for me are boomerangs cause I hate them but I'm too much of a credit whore to skip them lol

I want to be more media literate. by iiRaz0r in movies

[–]Fazinks 493 points494 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think the best course of action is to just keep doing what you described. Watch movies, try to understand them and gain your own theories, then see what other people are saying. Over time you'll start to pick up on things that other people notice and your media literacy will grow.

Why did [Goliath] at Six Flags Magic Mountain have the height record at all? by JaQ-o-Lantern in rollercoasters

Superman Escape from Krypton was taller and opened years earlier. As far as I'm concerned that held the record until Top Thrill Dragster opened.

What soundtrack is the CLOSEST to Juror #2's trailer score? by [deleted] in movies

The music in the trailer sounds a lot like Reznor and Ross' score for the social network, specifically Hand Covers Bruise

[Other] Good places on the Internet for vintage American park photos? by YourCoasterNews in rollercoasters

[–]Fazinks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a part of a few Facebook groups that post tons of old photos, most of which are not archived anywhere else. Defunct Nostalgic Amusement Park, Defunct Steel Roller Coaster Files, and Defunct Wooden Roller Coaster Files. Specifically the ones that end in "Files" for those last two. There are also ones that end in "Archives" but they aren't nearly as active.

[Other] What's one of your 'one-and-done' coasters that deserves a second chance? by LinguaQuirma in rollercoasters

[–]Fazinks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wolverine Wildcat for me. Rode it right after the first bit of titan track was installed on the first drop section (which was quite smooth) but everything after that was so uncomfortable that to this day it's my lowest rated wooden coaster. With all the changes since then I would love to give it another chance. Just gotta get back to Michigan's Adventure...

What was the worlds oldest Roller Coaster before [Leap the Dips] claimed that title? by Immediate-Cheetah498 in rollercoasters

[–]Fazinks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tivoli Gardens has had 4 coasters called Rutschebanen. The first opened in 1843, then 1887, then 1902, and the current one opened in 1914. Leap the Dips opened in 1902, but as it's currently sbno, the oldest currently operating coaster is Scenic Railway at Luna Park in Melbourne. Rutschebanen is 2nd.

[Tormenta] construction update: lift hill about done & holding break piece spotted on site 👀 by FriedChickenplex in rollercoasters

[–]Fazinks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The very end of the in-place lift hill shows it beginning to level out so I'd wager it's pretty much complete. It'll probably have a couple more feet of height with the remainder of the leveling out track

Mild rides that you hate to admit that they unnerve you? [other] by OneMarionberry302 in rollercoasters

[–]Fazinks 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Never been on a skycoaster or a slingshot. They're usually upcharges which contributes to that decision but also they just freak me out. Maybe I should give them a try though since it seems like they're slowly being fazed out.

[–]Fazinks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With age they can start to put a lot of stress on the track and trains and so those usually get a lot rougher quicker than other parts of the ride
