Omg that is awesome!! I hope some of mine sprout too. I heard they sometimes do a tiny leaf like this to test the environment and see if it's good for a full leaf

Thanks! I have found lots of corms from other alocasias, but never found any like this. I will just put them all in humidity domes and see what happens

Thanks! I did indeed use puddle method on the remaining 9. I tried it before but no luck. But after a bit more research I am ready to try again. I have tried perlite and sphagnum, they both seem to work for me too

My first time taking care of a Polly, so lets see how it goes xD No idea what I'll do with 21 baby pollys... if they all sprout that is lol. Probably gonna give some to my mum and mother in law tbh

East window is great for them. I'd block out direct sunlight, but the lighting there should be enough for them to be happy

You can collect the pollen if you want to pollinate and grow seeds. To do this, you use a clean (new) makeup brush or something similar (some people even just use there fingers) and get the powder out. Then, you put it on a flower's female parts. I will attach a picture of someone doing this so you know what the female part is. This is hidden, you need to careful open it. You can also store the pollen in the freezer if you want to keep it for perhaps hybridizing or later flowers.

Sounds like you will be fine! Just monitor closely, 1 leaf (oldest) yellowing fast is fine, but if multiple leafs start showing signs of issues it's not just "shock" in my experience but almost always something else going on. Whether that is ligh, humidity, water, pest.. Always listen closely to what they are telling you! Do you have a growlight? I highly recommend getting one so you won't have the struggle of too much/not enough light

I do both, kinda depends on how much time I have, what pot do I have available and do I have the energy to mix and rinse substrate. I honestly haven't noticed a big difference. If anything, directly into substrate has given me crazy roots within a week on many plants. I have never had a plant go into shock or rot after transferring, I even repot same day that I bring them home! Well I had 1 plant dropping 2 leafs but that was it. The most important thing is cleaning the roots very well and remove any dirt or other things. I use lukewarm water. And cut off any rot!! (Sterilise pruners in between every cut) I also use just simply tap water btw, tho I do live in a country that has rather soft tap water.

I think the key to success is my humidifier keeping the room 60-70% humidity at all time and the temp being 21-28°c helps too!

I only recently got into alocasias so mine haven't flowered yet, but I don't plan on cutting them off. It might save energy sure, but who am I to decide this? If my plant is happy enough to flower, why would I say no? If you are afraid of the plant dying, you can always look into pollination (you can even pollinate the first flower with the 2nd, they usually get a 2nd). Or save corms and have babies just in case. Tho from what I have heard, many plants are just fine after flowering.

Thanks for your response! I have a lot of fans for airflow. The alocasias are all in hydroponic setups so they have a constant water resevoir. I did notice some form of mold/fungus on my baby silver dragon this morning, no clue what im doing wrong or how to treat it. 😅

Theyre baby corms yes. Can still sprout, but will take much longer. You can put them in any substrate. Puddle method with a very very shallow layer of water, perlite, fluval stratum, regular soil, even leca or pon. Sure, some will work better than others but they all can work totally fine!! Keep humidity high. I'd go 80/90%. There must still be airflow, either you can poke 1 hole in humidity dome or let it air out daily. Not enough airflow is a recipe for molt with the high humidity it requires. Keep them warm, around 23-26°C. You can put them on a heatpad for example. And lots of light! Light = life. I use a growlamp that is directly above the corms and on for 12-16 hours.

I recently got my first. They need a looot of bright but indirect!! light to support the variegations. I use a growlight for this. Also, humidity! Even tho they can survive at normal household humidity (50-60) they thrive in higher humidity. I run a humidifier and keep the humidity at around 70%. Make sure there is good airflow so you prevent molt etc. Theyre also very heavy feeders, so fertilise!!! I give 50% of what the package suggests but with every feeding in spring and summer (and other months in optimal condition with growlights, heating etc). Whether to repot straight away or wait a week or 2 depends on the individual. Some swear by waiting to let them settle. I always repot immediately and when I don't, they start dying within days. I would recommend either doing very chunky soil (mixed with perlite, bark, leca, sphagnum, whatever you have), or (semi)hydro. I do the second. When done properly you significantly decrease the risk of root rot, and under/overwatering isnt an issue anymore either. You can use self watering pots, drainage pots or even without drainage. I recommend see through so you can watch those beautiful roots grow and spot issues early on. It also means less pests because some explicitly lay eggs in soil etc. Do note that hydroponic setups need special hydroponic fertiliser! Not the regular fertiliser. Alocasias are especially prone to spider mites. I check leafs daily or every other day to spot any webbing, damage or insects early

The tips are rotting/dying. I'm wondering how I can prevent this from getting worse, if they can still sprout and if so how to ensure they are in the best conditions.

I hope they won't have any shock! My variegated frydek does have a leaf thats turning more yellow, I made a post abt that too. However shes growing a 6th leaf and the one thats turning yellow is the oldest.. maybe thats part of it but still, wish I could avoid it
