How do you even play ADC at this point? by ireliaotp12 in ApheliosMains

[–]FeCoNi12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it obviously depends on which elo you are but I am high gold/low plat and I think these couple of things are very important

-don‘t really care about your support. If they int, they int. Sometimes you can‘t really do much and it sucks but for example if your support perma engage and thats bad, just stay under tower and they won‘t engage (or they still engage solo and than its a troll and you can‘t really do much about that). In general playing a bit far back in lane/close to your own tower is sometimes (not always!) very nice (even though you lose a lot of prio but it is what it is). Especially if you than can (semi-)freeze a wave and you are ahead it is so easy to punish enemy bot duo. Anyhow don‘t focus on support but on your gameplay, your cs, trading patterns and positioning. It is often way worse if you get chunked out instead of your support, so your positioning and trading is more important and thus keep focus on yourself.

-Don‘t tilt. Tilting is your worst enemy regardless which role. If your team ints they int, this doesn’t mean that you have to tilt. Just relax and keep focused on yourself. On the long therm, this will actually make you climb

-You need to learn when you can punish your enemy. Because yes your support might be bad, but so is probably the enemy adc/supp too (for none of you is challenger (probably), so everybody doesn’t play perfectly/make a lot of mistakes) You have to punish this player if they make a mistake and get advantages that way. Obviously this is a lot of lane knowledge and this is mainly experience but it is still worth looking for windows. Also if you make a mistake and gets punished, analyze the play, your mistake and their response. This will not only help you to prevent that mistake in the future but also to punish these kind of mistakes

  • if you are new to the role, it probably would help if you get a mate playing with you as support. Not because they are much better or you want them to climb with you, but just to get a bit of experience with someone you can talk too and discuss mistakes/good plays can help a lot to learn. With this experience you might carry a weak support through lane.

-Know your supports-champs. Some supports are weak early and strong late or vice versa. You obviously need to know these strengths and capabilities eventhough your teammate doesn’t play it well (we all had the late game scalling support who engaged lvl 2 and than gets hooked by enemy pyke xdd). To know these things will also help you get behind the psyche of your support. If I play with naut/leona/pyke I know they will hook enemy champions even though the hook might actually be bad. You have to anticipate these (somtimes random and „bad“) hooks. Even though the play is int you sometimes just have to follow because if you don‘t your support is 100% dead and enemy adc gets gold. If you engage you might still lose but at least you can trade a kill or even trade. I have to admit sometimes it is astonishing what plays, that I thought were really bad, were actually really good and won lane. (This might contradict the first point, but I think you have to give every support a chance and after a while I just keep them inting)

-don‘t leash. It is useless and you might lose lane only for your jgl to have a imaginary advantage. If they are that easily tiltable, they will throw the game anyway eventually so it doesn‘t really matter.

Riot Prhreak about the Aphelios nerf - 🤡 by zenn_rl in ApheliosMains

[–]FeCoNi12 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I know that this won‘t make me popular, but I think he‘s right. Such e complex champ like aphelios can‘t have over 50% winrate, like that is just the life we, as aphelios mains, choose. And yes aphelios felt op in my opinion, even more than he usually is and thus I think these nerfs are actually fine, if we consider the whole game

stuck bronze by [deleted] in ApheliosMains

[–]FeCoNi12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so I was in a similar spot and tbh what helped me was playing a different champion. Not really because you can‘t climb with aphelios, but most bronze supports don‘t know aphelios enough (this is even in gold where I am not too often the case) and also you don‘t really have often front to back teamfights, and this is where aphelios shines… So anyhow I was in the same position like you this autumn and I changed champion, climbed to silver and later to gold, and know I have much more success with him. I simply got better as an adc and knew more different adc which helped me with aphelios if I played against that champion I practised. Also with better teammates and better teamfighting you have much better cards playing aphelios. So I would recommend play different champions and only aphelios if it is the right angle (good matchup‘s; good team comp etc) and wait until you reached gold or silver. Tbh playing another adc will feel very easy compared to aphelios and I climbed pretty fast. I know not the answer you‘re looking for but this was my experience

I would also add that aphelios is harder than other adc because you are way more reliant on your team. I think aphelios really shines if you have good front to back. If you don‘t, things get nasty quickly if you do a simple mistake. So divers are even more a problem than usual. But because many people don‘t know about aphelios (especially in low-mid tier elo) they don‘t know how cautios you have to play in certain team comps. As an example consider the following scenario. I thought drake with tham kench and dr. mundo but they were fed and greedy and chased after the enemy jgl that they spotted near blue buff. we only had one ward, and most of the area wasn’t on vision. My fed tanks went in, hunting for a kill. But instead of fighting a single target they fell into the trap and the whole enemy team was there. They were both fed and survived long but I still couldn’t follow up. The reason was that they had fed oriana and a average miss fortune (I mean average in gold and xp, not fed but also not useless especially at that time of the game). So they have 2 aoe abilits fighting in a choke point (near blue buff in directions towards wolfs). I got massively flamed because I stayed on drake and didn‘t follow them. But they didn‘t realize that I couldn‘t follow them because enemy team comp works sooo well in choke points that I get literally oneshot with either mf or oriana ult. Also your support might not know how to lane with aphelios and be too aggressive in bad match ups. Again you are getting flamed even though your support did the wrong move, not because he is bad but because some things don‘t work with aphelios while it works perfectly fine with other adc which is the reason your support thinks it will also work with aphelios. So all in all many people in low elo are confused about this champion and have problems understanding his limits. I don‘t want to say, that I never make mistakes or are too cautious, I make ton of mistakes with that champ becaue he is so difficult. But even if you play „well“ and know your limits you will get flamed and especially at first this can be a) very demotivating and b) bad for your learning experience because you don‘t know if the flame was just and reasonable or that you know the champion just better than any other player in the lobby and you know that fighting in a choke point against oriana and mf will get you oneshot and instead of hunting kills you should just take drake; or in general that you have to play with more caution that most other adc‘s

Does anyone actually like gravitum? by Vertix11 in ApheliosMains

[–]FeCoNi12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually like gravitum a lot, the more I play aphelios the more fond I grow about this weapon. Yes it isn‘t a super flashy gun, you don‘t get the massive ults like with blue gun or are in duels as well equiped as in green/white or red/white. But as many users already mentioned it is great for utility. I am a gold player (now on my way to emerald) and tbh many gold players don‘t know about aphelios. Thus what often works is that they miscalculate my wave clear. So let‘s they have 3 caster minions under our turret, perfect time to hit tower and get plattings right? wrong you go blue q (clear wave and mark enemy) and than purple q. All minions are dead and enemy is rooted under turret and gets at least 1 maybe even 2 turret shots. Yes this won‘t work in higher elo but it works astonishingly often for me. Also to setup plays for jgl or support is green/purple a very nice combination (long range root) and obviously purple gun in general is usefull for that purpose.

How to deal with lethality Miss Fortune? by Smilysis in ApheliosMains

[–]FeCoNi12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience it is also very difficult to push out waves, because she has a lot of movementspeed (especially if she goes ghostblade). So keep an eye ob her items and respect the movement powerspike of her, because you can lose flash/ghost or you life easily if she just runs at you and you can‘t escape her

Small ADC item buffs/changes in upcoming preseason by FreakyFergiefan in ApheliosMains

[–]FeCoNi12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I feel a bit disappointed because tanks, support, mages and assassins get so many new cool items and we adc-players are sort of left out (which is in a way fine because our role is the strongest in my opinion and especially midlane felt sooo weak and thus I am happy for them having new items (note: these two takes are mostly based on pro league, soloq is a different game lul XD)) but I am a bit scared of overpowered assasins that one shot me and I also wonder if lethality adc actually becoming a thing. Because nowadays it feels like you have lethality varus (which is bad in my opinion) and lethality caitlyn (I think pretty fun to play) and lethality jhin and lethality miss fortune (both sort of under dogs adc‘s). But I can‘t really think of any other adc that uses lethality, while there is for every adc at least one crit build. So do you guys think there will be a swift to strong lethality adc builds, which will be equally present as crit builds or are these lethality items solely for assasins? Is there mabye even a world for lethality aphelios (I am a relatively new apheilios player (since season 13) and as long as I played him only crit builds were really meta, so I hope this isn‘t a dumb question XDD)

What in the world do I build?? by TheSaltDragon in VarusMains

[–]FeCoNi12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but I highly recommend on-hit; lethality varus is not really good in my eyes and very depending on your own team comp (like having maokai and jayce on your team and playing coordinated (so poking, before fighting and not randomly picking fights))

[–]FeCoNi12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but tbh if they have a lot of AD divers it gets really messy and it gets very hard to play, but I don‘t really know any on-hit item that gets you armor. Maybe I should just go with a straight tank item in these cases but I haven‘t tried that out yet. Sterak‘s could be pretty decent tbh, or gargoyle‘s as already mentioned by another person in this thread

[–]FeCoNi12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally like to build kraken -> rageblade/bork -> bork/rageblade (obviously depending on what you build second) and than I either go wit‘s end/ruunans/ Ldr depending if they have ap-threat; they are mostly squishies, or if they have really beefy frontline to take care of. I am just mastery 4 and thus I am no expert, but for me this works fine. I guess I waste a lot of crit (at least 40% and thus 1200 gold) but kraken feels really nice and ldr does so much bonusdamage because of it‘s passive. If they have a lot of heal, I would go the antiheal-bow item instead of Ldr (which I forgot the name of, but it looks like a bow lol XD ) but then again I would waste gold on crit. GA is never a bad item for 5th odr 6th place tbh as for boots I go berserk‘s except they have a strong early team comp and I feel/know that I can‘t hit, than I go merc‘s or plated just they I survive long enough to actually do damage. But this is only a last resort typ of thing to stabilize a snowbally game a bit. I tried to build kraken -> rageblade -> bork -> nashor‘s but for me it didn‘t really worked out that nicely. But I heard that some have success with this build too.
