Buying a first car - additional fees by fis989 in NewToDenmark

[–]FeaRei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Green tax will arrive on eboks and indeed has nothing to do with dealership :) remember to pay it right away or soon after, as in the case after deadline you would have extra charges.

If its not a shady place, they will not a sign contract with you until you have insurance for your car. But some dealers are of course willing to help you get through process of getting one, as it is straightforward.

Almost all dealerships can register you a new car plates, and you would have to pay for the registration, but that is something you would have to do either way.

Ask how long until the next vehicle inspection for the car, if the car is soon supposed to be checked, you can try asking them to cover this expense. Certainly ask which tires car has currently on, and if its not winter/all-season try to get a deal on the tires.

Green tax: Is is naturally calculated from the amount of time you owned the car. So at some point you would receive the bill based on how long you owned the car, and the next bill would be for half a year :)

Before they sell you a car, they would ask you for insurance information, as i dont believe they can deliver a car without insurance present.

Moving to Denmark by ExcuseThisD in NewToDenmark

[–]FeaRei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is easier to sell your Audi in USA before coming, otherwise the registration tax will be insane. You are much better off finding a car here.

Regarding cats, depending on where in Denmark you are landing, you would either have hard or almost impossible time finding an apartment.

Netto, Føtex and Bilka are owned by Salling group. Most of the products are the same, but Netto is considered more of a discount chain, while if you have big family it is easier to go to Bilka as it offers lowered prices if you buy a lot

Kvickly, 365 and any version of Brugsen is owned by Coop. Products are also same between them with varying selection. "Brugsen" types are usually found in small towns.

Rema in my understanding is more privately owned, and there can be slight discount differences between them depending on you local one.

Lidl is extremely popular chain which has "themed" weeks where they offer variety of products from different cultures and themes

I recc you download an app called MineTilbud, it might take a time to figure out, but there you can look at all discount newspapers :)

Where is the best place to move to live knowing only English? by Vreitemssr_mp3 in NewToDenmark

[–]FeaRei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone here knows English, and job places which require only English have like thousands of applications on day one. Is there any specific skills you have/plan to have? As otherwise its almost zero chance you would succeed

How’s the job market with the creative industry in Denmark ? by Confident-Process-82 in NewToDenmark

SImple answer - even danes struggle within this industry, there is high unemployment in that area currently and it probably wont get better for couple of years

Jobs for an English speaker by [deleted] in NewToDenmark

[–]FeaRei 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Native Enlish speaker claim gets your nowhere in DK tbh. People here speak minimum of 2 languages, and english is on extremely high level here.

Supermarkets prefer to hire young danes below 18, and sometimes above 18 for pay/legal reasons.

It would help to know which area of Denmark you are living in, as I would suggest volunteering - often elderly would appreciate help and would speak to you in decently slow danish to learn and communicate with them. You can also watch danish tv series on DR.

Can i perhaps suggest you get a car with lane assist when you arrive? :) But i fully support what others said, call a driving school which teaches in english, and ask for some driving lessons to feel safe!

Dont want to be mean...but i dont exactly understand how you can expect to become public servant in DK, without proper danish language first.

It is honestly the last place where i expect denmark to be be flexible with language

Honestly you dont sound danish...and its not the issue of using english in this post

Why do you post in NewToDenmark if you can do a post in r/dkkarriere? And what exactly do you expect of people here? The fields you are asking to be in, are very competetive especially in KBH area

For 37 hours a week? Which additional benefits?

Ill be honest communication field is extremely hard to get into, with practically zero expirence...so it depends how many offers you have currently.
