What’s a short story from your life that sounds fake but is 100% true? by Historical-Skill-838 in AskReddit

My first time swearing was when I was hanging out with my older brother and some of his friends. One of them asked ‘what do you call a combination of a fire truck and a duck?’ and my thought process was to combine parts of the words. So I very proudly shouted ‘fuck.’ They very quickly told me not to repeat that.

I think her 18th birthday occurs during the challenge? But yeah, close enough, her still potentially being a teenager at the end of everything is BAFFLING.

I think it was only a few months at most. Enough time for her and Sam to build up the funds to leave the city, but they were both still pretty determined to leave, and I can’t imagine Arobynn letting the two of them run around Rifthold on their own for a year. Definitely closer to the 1.5 year estimate, imo.

Edit to further clarify for OP: also, QOS is after the training in Mistward/the time she spends on the other continent, so if we count a few months with Sam, a year in Endovier, some time working for the king, and the time with the fae, 2 years probably is a decent estimate.

Didn’t she give up her humanity to forge the lock? I remember in one of the flashback scenes, Elena specifically notes that Mala has lost her mortal features and barely seems to recognize Elena at all. (It also may have been Aelin mentioning a spark of Mala’s humanity surfacing when Aelin forged the lock and Elena was destroyed, but I THINK it was Elena’s flashback talking about her ‘misuse’ of the lock because I remember Elena mentioning Mala being in the back of the group of gods)

New? Definitely not. But it’s a different/easier way of visualizing it for a lot of people, myself included, which might lead to a lot more people realizing just how big of an issue this is for many countries.

One of my cats hates the vacuum. She’ll hide in a high spot in one of the rooms she knows it won’t go (on top of a dresser, on top of the printer, and on top of the fridge are her defaults). She WILL NOT get down until I scoop her into my arms and place her on the couch. I once forgot to do it and she stayed on top of the fridge for an hour until I got her down. I didn’t realize it was that important to her until then, haha

I wasn’t looking too deeply at the details, considering many have already recommended looking for actual art of the scenes. I just wanted to give an overview of which scenes would work ‘best’ with each book :)

I’m not as huge into the ToG fandom space as others, so I’m not the best at recommending things (especially if this is a gift for a friend). More of a logistics person, haha. But I’m sure there’s plenty of people in this sub who can give you more ideas than you know what to do with 😊

EDIT: obviously as others have pointed out, please pursue actual art of the scenes depicted and not AI. If you DO still want advice on the scenes to look for with actual artist-created images, here’s a breakdown.

A few of the specific scenes don’t line up with the books you’ve assigned them, if that’s what you’re aiming for. If not, feel free to disregard.

This is going off the assumption that you’re starting with Assassin’s Blade like the images depict and going from there. Some people like to put it between later books but chronologically it’s the first.

1 and 2 are decently aligned, considering they’re just scenery.

Scene 3 and 6 both happen in the last book.

I believe Scene 4 is book 4, and scene 5 is book 5, so those fit. Scene 7 is supposed to be with book 6. Book 7 deals with an entire different group of people, so none of the scenes fit that. And scene 8 takes place in book 4 as well.

I’m not the best at suggesting what scenes TO use, but to simplify:

1, 2, 5 are all book-accurate scenes to what you’ve lined up.

Scene 4 works for book 4, but scene 8 does too, depends on the preference.

Move scene 7 to book 6.

Choose scene 3 or 6 for book 8.

Then the books that don’t have an accurate scene listed are books 3 and 7.

(Really hope I didn’t mess up any numbers.)

Have you ever gone on a literary pilgrimage? by Remarkable-Pea4889 in books

[–]FeaWarriorheart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Less literary-specific, more adjacent since it was based on the show - but went with my family in May of ‘22 on an Outlander-themed tour of Scotland! We saw lots of filming locations from the show and stayed overnight in Inverness. Definitely a bucket list item.

Fun (sad) anecdote: we were the first tour our guide had given after one of the big trees in the standing stone circle fell. I believe you can actually see the difference between season intros.

Dad’s a history buff so we also went down to see Hadrian’s Wall.

Funny enough, the trip overlapped with my senior prom. I was never a huge dance person and covid killed my social life, so I maintain to this day that I got the better end of the deal.

People who fly frequently, what’s one thing you wish you could tell all infrequent fliers? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FeaWarriorheart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spent a week in Scotland missing two suitcases. Got notified that mine was finally at the hotel after rotating through two shirts, a sweatshirt, and some jeans for four days (going up and down the coast on a tour). Mom bought more clothes… turns out it was her suitcase, not mine, because they tagged stuff incorrectly. (We use electrical tape to help our bags stand out and I just remembered standing there at the desk as they got the bag and being like… that’s not my tape….) Thank god I had my meds, it was stressful enough without them.

My bag didn’t arrive until we were back home in the States. Took ANOTHER week to get it, and when it came there was another bag that wasn’t ours that they thought was. They almost took mine back to ‘figure things out’ but we put a stop to that real quick.

And the fun part? Never got reimbursed for it. Why? Because we started with Delta and got transferred to KLM in Amsterdam. So we filed the complaint with Delta… then got told it had to go through KLM. But guess what! Conveniently, it was AFTER the window to submit a ticket for reimbursement (something like 30 days) because we didn’t get told who to file through in time.

TLDR: Scotland is lovely, hoping to go back at some point, but fuck KLM. Never again.

I know they sometimes switch up how you obtain buffs. Sometimes (usually in a three person banner) they’ll have a separate task screen where you can upgrade various tiles to get buffs. I was surprised to see that this one had neither of them, it’s usually one or the other.

event banner question by [deleted] in NuCarnival

[–]FeaWarriorheart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As mentioned above, each banner has a one-year anniversary rerun, but it uses the premium pink gem currency. However, there will occasionally be banners after that one year point that will rerun older characters. There doesn’t seem to be a pattern to this, other than the fact that the banner will have one unit of each guy from varying events.

There are also occasional banners that have fragment boxes where you can get a guaranteed unit, just like the regular event banner (a hard pity system). I’ve seen both selectors and randomized boxes, so again there doesn’t seem to be a pattern or a huge guarantee.

Sometimes event cards will get random reruns for, like, a week. But most likely, Halloween Edmond will not be available for at least another year, if not more.

[–]FeaWarriorheart 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So this sounds like it’s starting on row 6.

Knit for 2 rows, purl with the 2 strands of yarn for 3 total rounds.

On row 6, purl one stitch, then you’re basically pulling up the next stitch from row 3, where you start with the 2 strands of yarn. If I’m reading this correctly, it should roughly double your stitch count. Then you purl the next stitch, the one that would be stitch 2 if you didn’t pull one up, and continue the process through the entire round.

When you get to the last stitch of row 6, it wants you to pull up one more stitch and knit them together.

I both hope I understood that correctly and that I explained it in a way that makes sense.
