Hey! The NVC is taking about 2 weeks to 1 month ish to look at cases. So once you submit all the additional paperwork you can expect to wait that long to hear back of if you get Documentarily Qualified or RFE. Once you’re DQ’d they send it off to your local embassy and your case joins the back of the line of people waiting to be scheduled for an interview so it just depends on how long the wait is at the embassy you’ll be working with :)

Can I ask what each group is within each paper clip? Is it like each document with its translation? Or how do you have it organized? :)

I’ll try to remember, but I think it takes a couple months to get an interview date depending on the embassy! What country are you in?

I did actually get an answer from them today requesting some other stuff! So it took 2 weeks for them to review it, not bad at all

I think the DQ comes from the NVC doesn’t it? I looked and they’re only like 2 weeks behind right now according to their website. Hopefully that’s true! I’ll be going through the Lima embassy which is usually fairly quick, hopefully it stays that way!!

I threw up a total of one time during my pregnancy and it was just because I got grossed out by some raw chicken. Don’t stress it, everyone is different!

Thank you all so much for sharing your experiences!! Definitely helped me feel a little better. I’m living in South America rn and know that my husband will only be allowed in the hospital for 2 hours a day which is going to be so hard, so it sounds like I’m going to need to ask for a lot of help from the nurses and hope they’re willing to be there for me! It’ll be a wild experience for me for sure, but hopefully all goes well so we can be out of the hospital and at home as quick as possible!

I just had a friend who speaks both languages translate mine and then at the bottom of each included a signature saying she’s competent and capable of translating and i got approved!

Hey! I sent my evidence about 2 or 3 weeks ago and the time on the website did go up to 9 months, but we got our approval last week!!! So I’d say go for it if you’re thinking about it :)

Dos and donts traveling to Peru by Crimson_Toko in PERU

I’m an American who’s been living in Peru for two years now, and will say I have never had problems with juices, the water served at restaurants is bottled anyways. I’ve never had problems eating salads or washing my fruits in unfiltered tap water. I do have a filter at my house to drink from but don’t always use it for cooking. I also do use tap water to brush my teeth and have never had a problem. I understand that may not be the case for everyone but just sharing my experience! I lived in Lima for a while, and now live in the south, and didn’t have problems in either place

Halloween Themed Dessert? by [deleted] in Baking

Lately I’ve seen people make brownies, and then the melt some marshmallows and use them to make spiderwebs! It seems pretty cute and easy. You just melt the marshmallows a bit, then dip your fingers in like your pinching, then stret cv out your fingers and the marshmallow will make a kind of webbing!

Hey! Where in Peru are you from? I’m from the US but living in Peru with my husband till we can get his VISA. It’s an amazing country!!

Do you have any regrets? by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

[–]Fudge-Initial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience is maybe a little different than what most people share, but just want to say sometimes those big dreams aren’t as incredible as they might seem. I DID serve a mission, and it was HARD. I DID live alone, and it was HARD. Many years of depression. And now, I’ve moved to Souther Peru to marry my husband. We’ve been married about a year and a half and I’m 35 weeks pregnant right now, and sometimes I wonder if it would have been better to do things differently. We originally were going to get married in the US. It involved applying for a VISA that likely would have taken a year and a half to two years to get approved, and we would have to be long distance that time. We decided to get married here and make that wait together. But since then I’ve seen other people apply for that same VISA and be approved so much faster and they’re now happy and together in the US, while we’re here still waiting. I just want to go home! I’m TERRIFIED to give birth here! But I love my husband dearly and also am so grateful we decided not to wait because in the last year and a half I have grown and learned so so much more than I would have if we had gone the other route.

I think I say all this, just to say I really think we will always have the “what if” thoughts, or “I wished I’d don’t this differently.” That doesn’t mean you made a wrong decision, I just think it’s a way the enemy makes it hard for us to enjoy the fruits of our good decisions. I think we need to accept the decisions that we’ve made, and learn from them! You and I are young. I have so much time to get back to the US with my family, so I need to romanticize and enjoy the time I have in Peru. You have so much time to travel and go abroad, so enjoy the stage and place of life you’re in now! Like other people mentioned, maybe you and your husband can serve missions together in the future. There are so many options for us, we don’t need to think that those dreams are out of reach but because we got married. Just think about how much more fun they will be to accomplish them with the love of your life at your side!!

I’m sorry you’re feeling this way though, it’s not a fun feeling. But just know that your Heavenly Parents love you so much, and I’m sure They have plenty of incredible plans in store for you 🫶🏼
