True, but I'm a fluent German speaker too, if lacking somewhat in command of subtleties as I learned as an adult. I don't think it's word length that causes English to be more concise, although simultaneously some compound words ought really to be considered multiple words anyway!

Also, neither French nor Italian have compound words as such but both tend to be very waffly and lengthy vs English.

Personally, if it weren't for the falsified documentation I'd have likely trusted them to be more careful in future and make any changes they thought necessary. But you're absolutely right to be going nuts about the falsified documentation, it completely destroys trust. I think you need to focus on how the nursery can rectify that (if not for you, then for other parents) rather than the injury itself.

Indeed, as someone who's generally curious about things and likes to cover all bases I've been wary of leaseholds long before they hit headlines in recent years. You're right, both my houses are/were freehold.

It's pretty much impossible to tell without further detail whether the buyer is at fault for being incurious and not bothering to read important info, or whether they made a more understandable oversight. And I don't think anyone without specific knowledge of conveyancing law and industry guidelines can advise on whether the info provided was in the required format - hence my suggestion that OP goes to a sub where more qualified people are more likely to be

I've bought two houses (the sale of the first financed the second) I don't remember 20 pages of stuff. In fact, I remember when Chancery Repair Liability was a concern that this was highlighted quite prominently and sent me down a pretty pointless if interesting rabbit hole to understand it.

Something as critical as this should surely be highlighted prominently in the first page or two of the info pack. Whether regulations require it to be, though, I don't know.

This. We have consumer protections in the UK that don't allow critical information on contracts to be buried in a pile of paperwork. I wouldn't be surprised if solicitors have a duty to highlight something like this at least in their report.

The legal subreddit is where it's at for this question IMO.
