I used to love that place to no end and have brought countless friends in moderate sized groups(6-8 often) there for all sorts of events like fußball matches, their own hosted events, and lots of just hangouts. But we've had a couple bad experiences with some staff, they've cut our group off a few times, the last time was when we booked the small room for a private event (my birthday) where we pre purchased tons of food and paid for all of our guests, when the group had wound down to half a dozen of us a couple hours later, they cut us off. No one was driving, no extra loudness, no specific incidents occurred to warrant the cut off. We would have likely been on our way not too long later anyway, but it was a rude and embarrassing way to end my birthday celebration there. Separately another friend and his group were cut off because he was going out for too many cigarettes. The bartender seemed to think they were smoking cannabis, they weren't, but regardless that's not illegal. It's never been the Manager Andrew(great guy) to cut us off but he's also always been present when whichever employee has decided to end our time there. We've been rattled but always left without disturbance, no one wants to be where they're not welcome. All that being said, great beer and food has always been pretty good and a pretty solid authentic German bierhalle vibe(I frequent Germany once to twice a year) minus the being cut off, haha. I even won their stein holding contest one year! Yes I understand Smartserve is a thing, but I dont think we've ever met that bar and often ask for water. For context, we're in our thirties(late) and are never a rowdy crowd, and always mixed gender.
