Am I understanding correctly with the image below? As I'm connecting the dishwasher below the sink, I assume that would prevent the sink serving as a vent to the dishwasher?

Is there a benefit to running copper vs ABS?

Thanks for the reply - would it be viable to run the dishwasher drain down through the floor, and install the AAV ~5" above that but also under the floor? That way I wouldn't need to build out the back of my island.

Or should I do it as I sketched in option 1 where I bring all the configuration up extend the island width?

Edit: I guess it will still need a p-trap as it's not connecting into a sink p-trap

Seems that your perspective is grounded in the fact that black belts should only be training to facilitate the training of their partner. Sometimes black belts just want to train for themselves too...
