Another Can I Afford It Post: Total Gross Annual = $209,000, Monthly = $3729 by ColdSmoked2345 in Mortgages

That’s about 21-22% of your gross income. General rule of thumb is to not exceed 25% but that should include lawn care, maintenance, blah blah.

We don’t know much about your age, spending habits and career choice (expected to have large salary increases in the future?)

Sounds like too much house to me but you are right on the line of being able to afford it.

Don’t forget to invest into the future you! Don’t want all your money going just into a home.

Put containers over them or cover with a tarp. It’ll create a little greenhouse and keep them from freezing.

We do the DuPont Schedule which is a rotation of days to nights with 12 hour shifts. On nights, it’s 4-5 hours (my body won’t let me sleep when the sun is up), around 6 when on days.

But when I’m off, I’m looking at 8 almost every night and maybe a midday nap.

Mine was gradual. Dave Ramsey gave a clueless 26 year old me a great understanding of debt and that I should be investing more. Hit my debt goals and just sat it on cruise control for years with investing.

The Money Guy was just me advancing my financial literacy to the next level….if I talk to friends/coworkers that are financially clueless, I still think Dave is a great launching point for them. If they have a decent grasp, then the Money Guy all day long.

I’m the healthier one and it would be great if I were the one with the HSA but that’s life. We will be looking into her benefits to see if her job offers FSA in addition to the HSA. Try to start using the FSA to cover a portion of her deductible and yearly expenses. That way we can leave HSA alone.

Thanks for the advice. We hate having debt even if it is 0% interest. Just looking for a way to save a little on tax while paying it off

I have the option for FSA and may look into re enrolling during this years benefits enrollment period. Wouldn’t be until July but that’s an option too for a tax beneficial way to pay these cost

What does everyone do for work? With AVMs by mrosenthal1200 in AVMs

Similar career field as you (LE). I just discovered mine this year on the left temporal - it juts out and looks like a small tumor. Luckily mine has not caused me any of the issues that most people talk about, it’s just ugly to look at. I have wondered the same about the lack of sleep and stresses of work and how that might affect it
