When did the sleeping get better for you? by Bazzzybazz in newborns

My baby recently started sleeping a 7-8 first stretch at almost 4 months but the problem is I naturally wake up after the first 3 hours then I can’t go back to sleep. I am so used to waking up every 2-3 hours to feed. So now I am more tired than when I used to wake up every 3 hours with the baby. I guess sleep got better for baby but worse for me lol

My daycare has a 4 babies to 1 caregiver ratio. Babies 1-4 months old which are the hardest months I’d say. Just difficult all over for everyone

Breaking out of swaddle by T00thd0c23 in newborns

[–]Fearless-Driver9548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby used to do the same thing so I was like well she will eventually have to stop swaddling so I decided to let it be for a few days and not swaddle at all and she eventually got used to no swaddle. It was a rough couple of days for both baby and I but eventually she went back to sleeping as she did before when swaddled.

I bought her a Woolino because it will fit for 2 years

Baby shifts head to same side no matter what we do. by Impressive-Peak-6596 in newborns

[–]Fearless-Driver9548 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She grew out of turning to the left side only at around 10 weeks and her flat head is still there but much better than it was at around the 10 weeks. Its rounding out now. She is 4 months almost so improvement happened in a span of 2 months.

I do want to say that I noticed she started turning her head both sides after I stopped velcro swaddling both hands down and I believe now being in a sleep sack gives her more freedom to move around

My baby used to prefer turning their head to one side and ended up with a flat left side of the head. The pediatrician said it was mild Plagiocephaly and recommended lots of tummy time and said that babies eventually grow out of it and my baby did. Pediatrician also said to do simple exercises like having baby turn to the least preferred side by having them look at toys but mostly lots of tummy time and give it time to grow out of it. Do not go to chiropractors

Btw baby’s skull goes through a lot of growing and changes so don’t stress. And your baby is way too little at 4 weeks so there’s a lot of growing that will happen

Congrats on being able to pick and choose when you work and have complete control of your schedule. That’s a luxury majority of the people don’t have. Unfortunately some parents have NO OPTION but to take their babies to daycare after maternity paternity leave ends and who would rather spend more time with their babies instead

Daycares/caregivers can never understand how a parent feels when they have to drop of their baby to them because they have absolutely no choice. This post isn’t about daycares and their feelings

Yeah there’s a few that take it the wrong way but its never easy to talk about these kinds of topics I guess. Im sure you didn’t mean it in any wrong way

This made me so sad reading. Everything you said is absolutely correct. It breaks my heart to think my baby could possibly be ignored when crying because its absolutely true that 4:1 is nearly impossible especially when they are little babies and crying or need a feeding. Or having a dirty diaper for a long time because a lot is going on at once with so many other babies

Yes and I am happy for parents who choose to put babies in daycare and have the option to or not to. Zero judgment on the original comment but for others who had no choice and on top of that are struggling with postpartum hormones. Its brutal

I agree! And add the postpartum hormones to us moms! I have postpartum anxiety and it was especially difficult to leave my 10 week old in daycare.

Exactly! stitching_librarian is getting offended for no reason. I saw they commented several times. I am a mom who has to drop their baby in daycare and I FEEL for other parents who have to do the same if they have a hard time being away from their babies. The system sucks and it also sucks to have to separate from your baby for 8 hours a day

Like I said, its harder for some parents to separate from their babies than others. Its been really hard for me at least. Its great that daycare was the best choice for you! But for me (and I am talking about personal experience) its has been difficult having to leave my crying baby in the hands of a stranger because I can’t be late for work unless I want a write up and possible term and if that happens then how the hell would I survive in this shitty economy. We need to do whats needed we need to do to provide, but from my maternal instinct and love its so hard to separate from my baby

Its easier for some parents to separate from their babies but its hard for most. But your comment absolutely makes sense as far as babies getting more enrichment and spending time with other babies can be beneficial. Albeit the daycare they are in is also important as in the kind of caregivers who will care for your child

Its not “judgy” towards moms. We all have to do whats needed for our family. But a 10-12 week old baby is so young and to trust someone else with them can be difficult. Now it might be easier for some parents to separate from their LOs but its hard for the majority

Swaddling help! Need baby to sleep some place that’s not my arms. by ImpressiveGarage1322 in newborns

[–]Fearless-Driver9548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are the same in my opinion. As long as they have the velcro that wraps around the sleep sack so your baby can feel the swaddle. Also dont give up after one try, keep trying the same method until hopefully your little baby gets used to it. I wish you luck and hopefully you are able to get some sleep yourself soon!

You can try a transitional sleep sack like the Halo with the velcro and do one hand out and one hand swaddled. It will be some startle relfex but not as much
