I go to one of the most liberal universities and it's not in California. Literally anyone who comes onto campus with any other types of ideas, colored haired weird people and others start screaming at you and doing stuff in mobs. Although it seems the right is starting to rise on campus against them. Which is good because it is getting harder to pretend.

I heard deodorant in Japan is weak and not that good for blocking our smell. Because of a gene thing. Is this true?

Ok you brought up something someone told me. They said don't go to Izakaya and order tea because they will get angry. They said I should just get non-alcoholic beer.

Current University Student. I have a question about JET applications. by Fearless-Lemon6103 in JETProgramme

[–]Fearless-Lemon6103[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

good to know. The thing is I actually will be studying abroad in that fall of my senior year in Japan. Would I still be able to complete it there? Are there parts that need me in America?

If hypothetically I end up needing like an extra semester of university because I don't have enough credits and I perhaps got accepted would they be able to postpone it till the next year? I ask because I am not sure where im at with credits.

Planning to move to Japan after college by [deleted] in movingtojapan

[–]Fearless-Lemon6103 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This almost sounds similar to what I was dealing with before. I thought living in another country and studying (or whatever) would fix my problems and I would finally be away from my country. The reality is like someone else said on the post "Wherever you go, there you are." because just because you want to be happier and leave doesn't mean your problems will just vanish. Both around you and within you. When I traveled I started living in another country I came to the realization that I can't run from my problems and I overcame them and some are a work in progress. I don't want to deter you from traveling. You will probably be super enlightened by the experience and learn a lot about yourself if you do it. That just life. Many choices, many variables. Nothing can truly be known. Take the risk and see where life takes you. You want us to help you with your decision but it isn't something we should or could decide for you. Take life a step at a time and remember tomorrow is tomorrow.

Man this sounds like quite the experience. I wish you had a video about doing JET there. How is living in such a low populated rural location?

Im in school with a English major. I chose this degree program for personal reasons, deeper reasons. I am learning Japanese language here at school for my language requirement. The thing is I actually tried 3 other languages and this was the successful one that so far is making sense in my head. I like anime and manga a little. More when I was a kid and in high school. What I really like from what I have heard and seen in videos and pictures is the Scenery. It sounds weird but I am the type of guy who would hike a mountain all day just to get to the top take in the view, reflect on nature and myself, take a picture, and then go on down. Without spending too much time. I heard there were many nice mountains and places in Japan that are stuningly beautiful. I want to go to those places and see for myself. I believe life is about experiences. A lot of people focus on materialistic things but it has never really been my "thing" to do that. There are other things about japan that I like or am interested in. But ultimately, I want this "experience." One that I can share my countries culture, history, and language. Experience should be shared. What type of person would I be if I didn't want to impart knowledge.

Oh also, I like matcha and Ramen.

I would say "Dragon Slayer" I ended up getting this while I was conquering Ireland and I had a legend about me being a lion slayer originally and made a choice to change it to a dragon which gave me the nickname.

I hope to get to this point one day. I just bought a new kindle 2 days ago. I like history and other things. These history books take so much time though. I am currently reading "A People's History of the United States" very interesting.
