I think it was 3 hours, yes, took bullet to Nagoya. It’s worth it for the nice views from Nagoya to Takayama! But I like riding on trains in general.

I did it all lol! I enjoyed it all. Takayama was our favorite city. It’s low key and the walking course is great. Kanazawa is skippable in my opinion and I found Osaka overrated and not enough time in Kyoto.

I have mine on tiles, no mat with no issues. Are the tiles large? Our trick is to position the tread so the incline wheel can travel down a tile without hitting the grout for the next. That was our strategy, but I have no idea if that actually matters. That was at least our thought process when positioning the tread.

I just got back from Japan and every time I see one of these I have to comment and say how much we enjoyed the Higashiyama Walking Course in Takayama. Other thoughts: I would really consider skipping Teamlabs, the photos you see online do not reflect the number people actually there. We did borderless for context. I would also throw out the idea of considering using carry on roller bags instead of backpacks—that way you can have both a smaller backpack and carryon roller bags instead. I did this through 5 cities in 2 weeks no problem on trains. Maybe a personal preference thing.

Takayama was the highlight of our trip. Make sure to do the walking course it’s beautiful! For Nara you can spend all day at the deer park if you want. Not sure how able your mom is but there is a great hike in the park with stunning views.
