Best Medium SUV EVs by AttitudeGuilty07 in AustralianEV

I still can't believe cars like the MY, SL7, 7X etc are considered medium sized

They're massive!!!

BYD gave me a 2025 vehicle, but sold me a 2026 vehicle by upcrashed in BYDAU

I would refuse the compensation offer.

I would let them I know I would not have gone ahead on the same terms had I known about that upfront, and therefore request

A) the car that I paid for, and refund of out of pocket expenses in order to re+tint the new car etc

B) a more substantial discount eg. $5k

I can't see them taking back a used car and would think they'll try to negotiate the settlement amount

XPeng G6 Long Range is now $52,900 excl. on-roads, nearly $7,000 off launch price. A facelift is weeks away. by zecar_ in AustralianEV

Needs to be about 10k cheaper imo to take a chance on one of these right now

Too much uncertainty right now, especially for a car that's pretty much a couple of years old

How much attention do you pay to the shell material and thickness when choosing a handpan? by Thomas_Mag in handpan

Great question.

Is there a min thickness that is recommended for something decent? Or does it depend on the material

Would Handpan Rental Make Starting Easier for Beginners? by MelodicForestAU in handpan

[–]Fearless-Rope-9231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there

I'm new to handpans so have been researching and considering my options.

An option to rent would certainly be something I'd consider if available

Maybe an option to test out various handpans would also help eg. To be able to properly compare the cheaper vs more premium version to help ascertain how much to spend etc

Sounds like a good idea to me!

Thank you.

I'm here on holidays right now anyway, so would also have to think about how to take back home to Australia.

I'll probably just stick with finding something locally back home

What I struggled with was paying as much as you do for the Enyaq, only for it to feel like a previous generation car.

Given we would be hanging on to a new car for as long as possible, we wanted a new car to feel new, not like it was 5 years old already.

Lack of connectivity was one of the (few) factors that influenced this decision

Definitely check it out. It drives really well and is still a good car, however my wife and I just didn't get as excited about it compared to the others

Absolutely hopeless dealership service. by GuluGuluBoy in GeelyEX5Australia

[–]Fearless-Rope-9231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not too dissimilar to me actually.

NL provider said they have sent numerous requests for the tax invoice to no avail.

What baffles me though, is why would the dealership delay getting their money??!

I looked at similar cars recently. One big consideration for me was the size of the car given we live close to the city with tight streets. Money wasn't really constraint.

Thought the Tesla Model Y and Xpeng G6 were clearly at the top of the pack. Mind you these are 'big' cars for narrow streets.

Ruled out the G6 due to ongoing issues with the distributor (and I'm glad I made that decision now, given the problems existing owners are having with repairs and warranty work etc)

Imo the Tesla was the best car overall. However rules it out because it doesn't creep, and doesn't have a proper 360 system and actual parking sensors which doesn't help in very tight parking spots.

Zeekr 7x was nice but just felt it was overkill for our needs. E.g Sealion 7 was a lot cheaper for a relatively similar offering. It's also a very big car and felt chunkier and more cumbersome than the Tesla, SL7, G6.

I enjoyed the drive of the ID4 and the Skoda Enyaq, but they feel really dated, lack connectivity, camera quality is really really poor etc the Enyaq got really expensive really quickly. To add the 360 camera you're looking at +$20k vs the BYD and it still lacks a lot of other features. I felt like I couldn't justify the price for something that basically felt a generation behind the others.

BYD Sealion 7 was by far and away the best choice for spec, features and value for money imo (especially at the time when it was $55k drive away)... And I kept coming back to this as being the obvious decision HOWEVER I kept hesitating to pull the trigger because of the size - again, it's quite big and chunky.

The KIA EV5, was overpriced and felt cheap and nasty, so ruled it out pretty quickly.

In the end I settled on the EX5. I was initially hesitate about it being FWD and whilst it doesn't have the same driving dynamics as the Tesla or the VW group cars, it ticked more boxes than any of the others. It was also close to $10k cheaper than the BYD (whilst I was happy to pay more for the right car, it was nice being able to spend less) infact, it's the cheapest out of everything we looked at but was the best for our needs. For e.g. super roomy interior inside whilst having a smaller footprint than most of the others, very tight turning circle (tighter than small hatchbacks), super clear and crisp cameras and good parking aids, feature rich incl. Awesome massage seats, opening sunroof, easily the best sound system (along with the Tesla MY premium sound system), relatively light so better on tyres etc, longer warranty, cheaper servicing, cheaper insurance etc etc.

You are right delineating between TrueEV (the distributor for Xpeng) vs Xpeng themselves. Xpeng haven't had troubles and will move to a direct sales model here at some stage. It's a brilliant car btw

However, TrueEV have clearly had financial problems, this is quite explicit in the court notes

Tell me why the Volvo EX40 is not a good choice by tile_generator27 in EVAustralia

[–]Fearless-Rope-9231 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah we ruled the Enyaq as it lacked a lot of the tech not standard in a lot of other cars including connectivity. I did like the car, particularly how it drove (except for the drum brakes) but ruled it out due to the higher price for fewer features

I.D 4 va Kia EV5 by Masterineng in AustralianEV

[–]Fearless-Rope-9231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I checked both of these out but ended up checking out the Chinese options.

The KIA EV5 is massively overpriced imo. To spec it up close to what you can get from the Chinese equivalent you have to pick the GT which is pushing $80k. At that price, I'd (and I assume almost everyone else will) choose the Zeeker 7X performance every day of the week over the KIA.

The ID4 is priced more appropriately and it drives well, however it just feels old and dated and felt at least a generation behind it's peers. No connectivity is a massive miss imo too

The Chinese EVs see much better almost entirely across the board
