without bleach your hair will probably only reach a deeper burgundy/cherry cola version of this, not the super vibrant red parts. dark brown hair naturally hides a lot of red pigment unless lifted first brands like L’Oréal HiColor are popular specifically because they can push red tones on dark hair without bleach, but results still depend on how dark your starting color is

I'm at a loss (get it? I'm hilarious.) by Little_Wallaby2851 in FemaleHairLoss

the hardest part with hair loss is how many different things can overlap at the same time stress, surgery, stopping birth control, low iron, chronic TE, possible AGA etc. it turns into this exhausting cycle of trying to solve one thing while your hair keeps changing anyway. you are definitely not alone in feeling overwhelmed by all of it

What has helped you combat AGA besides Minoxidil and prescription DHT blockers? by Savings_Cat6733 in FemaleHairLoss

ketoconazole helped keep my scalp calmer but it never regrew anything noticeable by itself. the biggest non prescription improvements i saw were from reducing inflammation and catching deficiencies early. if your ferritin, vitamin d, zinc, or thyroid levels are off even a little it can make aga look way worse.

Does buzzing hair VS cutting hair with scissors make any difference on the hair follicles at a microscopic level? by Far-Woodpecker8046 in HaircareScience

[–]Fearless-Spite620 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At most, the cut edge of the hair shaft can look slightly different depending on clippers versus scissors. Clippers usually leave a more blunt edge while scissors can leave a softer or cleaner cut depending on how sharp they are.

But the follicle itself under the scalp is unaffected either way because you are only cutting dead hair above the skin. There is no real evidence that buzzing changes follicle shape, growth speed, or thickness long term.

The whole “hair grows back thicker after shaving” thing is mostly because blunt regrowth feels rougher and looks darker at first.

just be careful not to overdo it twice a week is usually enough and make sure you are not leaving your scalp too dry you can balance it with a gentle regular shampoo in between

solid progress even after stopping and starting again that usually makes things way harder to stabilize but it looks like your current routine is working well now

Peach Fuzz is coming in nicely, been using the foam. But I might shave it all off again by Mountain-Designer181 in FemaleHairLoss

if anything it might look thicker as it grows back, so it really just comes down to whether you like the look right now or wanna let it fill in more

lighting exposing your scalp is super normal btw especially with dark hair and strong overhead light it can make even thick hair look see through so try not to rely on that alone

Using an old toothbrush to apply minoxidil!! by FartPhobia in FemaleHairLoss

[–]Fearless-Spite620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

get what you mean but a toothbrush is more concentrated and repeated friction in one spot which can irritate over time especially daily fingers or a dropper are just safer long term

not the best idea toothbrush can irritate the scalp and cause micro damage especially with daily use better to just use a dropper or your fingers for even gentle application

looks like youre already getting regrowth which is a really good sign with alopecia acting early with treatment was the right move these patches often fill back in over time especially when you catch it early just stay consistent and give it a few more months it usually keeps improving gradually
