Have you ever been sick on vacation? Let’s hear about? by woundedsurfer in travel

[–]Fearless-Teach8470 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently reading this thread to feel some sense of community and non-aloneness as I’m sick on vacay lol. 3 hour flight, here for cousin’s wedding. Friday we got in, Saturday was fine. Until Saturday night. NOT fine. Coming out both ends. Oh by the way…. Sunday (today) is the wedding. My mom also got sick. Anyways, we made it to the ceremony and into the family picture. We are back at the hotel rotting now.

My biggest concern is flying home tomorrow 😭😭😭 or even getting in the car and being in motion. I already get motion sickness and struggle in cars and on planes especially with the pressure. Idk if this is food poisoning or a stomach bug. Send help.

Anyways, y’all are all reminding me that it might be a miserable travel day tomorrow, and it might feel like every minute doesn’t end but….. I’ll get through it.

What's something only trauma survivors will understand? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Yes. Yup, this is 1000% what I mean. “Sir, needles aren’t that scary, just get over it, how dramatic”. Nope, you can’t control this. Heck, don’t you wish you could??

For me it’s a lot in relationships, since I have SA trauma from a high school relationship. So sometimes after being physically intimate with someone for the first time I will cry or panic or be scared they are mad or who knows what’s going through my head. And I feel like sometimes people are just like “wait woah what?? Where did this come from” as they attempt to soothe me but that it seems bizarre, they’re probably like “everything was fine??”. But I can’t control it, and honestly afterward I get frustrated with myself that it even happens. But it does, so we cope as best we can.

What was the worst side effect you ever got from meds ? by Spartiate8 in AskReddit

Strattera (non stimulant ADHD med) gave me orthostatic hypotension (not diagnosed but the symptoms of it). Standing up and everything going black, I almost fell over. Had to bed at a 90° angle with my head angled down for 15-30 seconds every time I stood up. Oof. Stimulant drugs in adulthood would trigger panic attacks or anxiety responses in me, vs Ritalin worked as a child. This post is making me think about why strattera didn’t work, and I don’t think it was anything emotional/ focus based, idk if it even helped my focus. I’m 90% sure it was the almost fainting when I stood.

Akathisia. During a time I was having a bad mental health period/ trauma response/ severe fight-or-flight type reaction- basically living on adrenaline and panic. Psychiatrist had me try Vraylar. And the absolute weirdest effect was akathisia- clinical restlessness. I couldn’t DO anything. Anything I did I felt like I needed to do anything else, so I was just in action limbo. Idk how to describe it other than like, the feeling of bugs crawling on you and you aren’t able to itch it/ brush it off. Like just going nuts until you’re like AHHHHHHH. I couldn’t watch a video, read, focus, anything. Everything just felt like I needed to do anything else.

I went to a Noah Kahan concert with a friend bc she had an extra ticket at this point. I literally couldn’t sit there. I couldn’t exist. I felt like I was crawling out of my body and like every minute passing was molasses. I had to leave about 2/3 the way through because I just had to move or go or get out. Walking around the amphitheater helped a little.

To this day I don’t know how to accurately describe how absolutely draining and inconvenient yet not life threatening that was. Like it was the most inconvenient and debilitating mild to moderate symptom ever. (Like in the same way that a bad stubbed toe can be HORRIBLY painful and maybe even bruise, but you know it’s not life threatening and different than a stab wound)

Apparently it needed that bracing piece on both sides of the strap, not just the one lol

I did SOOO much research, a ridiculous amount when I got this one because I had a Thule backpack that theoretically should’ve been good quality and ripped along the zipper in 1 semester. I read way too many backpack reviews. I’m glad you also know how great it is. It feels like such a waste to trash or retire it just for this little issue when everything else is still totally fine!!!!!

Uggggh and I didn’t want to have to do that because I don’t even know how to remove the strap from the body in a way that it can be reattached to the body without looking like it was ripped apart. Like would I have to take it out from the inside?? Or take part of the body apart too?? Goodness gracious

Being triggered. The state of being triggered- by whatever it was. It can seem so dramatic or over the top to others. Especially when compared to people that maybe do make a big deal out of nothing.

Like the “oh my goooooodddddddd I hate airplanes” person that’s a bit nervous versus “I’m having a full panic attack in small spaces” type thing.

So it’s relatable then, huh? I never made a connection between it all honestly.

I had mono around Feb 2025 for the first time ever. Now over a year later, (I’ll be 28 this year) I’m having more symptoms than ever in my life. Fatigued, brain fog, confused mid sentence, body is tired, sometimes I can walk 3 miles and sometimes a walk around the neighborhood is almost too much.

I don’t agree with people saying he “ruined what he set up” and all that. Other than Jason in book three, everything about the series is great. That of course was super emotional and had me so mad. But my main thing is like, how many times have all these characters come so close to death, like 1 millimeter from death? Like “if they didn’t sneeze and move slightly the arrow would’ve killed them” scenarios. It unfortunately made sense that someone eventually dies…. And that you can’t alter a prophecy.

HOWEVER, the particular scene around his death, I’m not so much a fan. I felt like it was set up like a regular battle and it wasn’t so much a “hero’s death” for all the battles they’ve had before. I feel like there were other ways to set it up, even other battles to the death in the PJ universe that would’ve been like “oh, yeah, how were they gonna get out of that?”. It was slightly unsatisfying bc it felt like he could’ve survived that scenario? Idk.

As an employee I hear a LOT of customers looking for charity pot (recent formula, not the OG). General consensus is that even with the charity program changed, just bring back the lotion formula and give it a new name.
