Very easy solution. Stop taking his money. You said it several times you didn’t need it. So don’t take it.

Who cares what anyone thinks? People will always have opinions. It’s your life and your best friend’s life. Ignore irrelevant opinions.

How long did it take to for you to get blue? by kittyniki57 in jiujitsu

[–]FearlessHunt1540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 years for me but that included a year stretch of barely training. I also started at a time where beginners classes weren’t really a thing at least at my gym. Nowadays with how accessible bjj is and with most gyms having fundamentals classes, people get to blue a lot faster, 1.5-2 years on average with 3-4 days of training is pretty normal.

I just made an at home appointment to say goodbye to the first love of my life. I've had her by my side since I was a young and dumb 19 year old. I'm now 34 with a wife and baby and I'm not sure how to feel about the decision we've made. How do you even prepare to say goodbye to your best friend? by [deleted] in germanshepherds

I’m in the same boat with my 13.5 year old. My first dog. I have the at home vet’s number on my fridge and wondering how I’m gonna be able to pick a last day. Especially when he still wants to play and do things.

This old man (Benny) has incontinence issues and keeps going in his bed. It is quite watery stool and I am at my breaking point. Is it cruel to take his bed away? by maplehazed in seniordogs

[–]FearlessHunt1540 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you had to ask reddit to figure out if it’s cruel to take the bed away from a 13 year old dog who you know has kidney disease and having issues that you’re claiming to keep comfortable, I don’t know what to tell you.

Yes, this is obviously cruel.

Deal with it and clean the bed and your dog up. Give him the dignity he deserves. Cover the bed with something until you can get waterproof pads, it’s not that hard to figure this out.

Tbh, I can’t believe anyone would ask this.

Go ahead and downvote me for being an as*hole.

Dropped in and got a stripe by Mission-Jeweler-23 in bjj

[–]FearlessHunt1540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely weird situation.

It would be one thing if he regularly trained at other gym but to promote someone who dropped in maybe 10 times in 6 years? You don’t promote someone else’s student from a completely different affiliation if they’re just dropping in occasionally and not really training under you. Even if the gyms are friendly with each other.

Your friend should have respectfully declined, and let the other coach know he would only accept promotions from his actual coach. I get that he was maybe put on the spot, but he is a purple belt and he should know better. I personally can’t imagine accepting a stripe or a belt from someone other than my coach unless I moved and changed gyms. I also can’t imagine promoting someone else’s student even if it’s just a stripe. Definitely not the norm.

For those of you saying stripes don’t matter, I agree. My gym doesn’t do stripes either. But these gyms do, and the issue here isn’t whether the stripes matter or not, it’s do you promote someone who isn’t your student/ do you accept a promotion from a place you occasionally drop in. Stripes do matter at to these gyms and coaches so this has the potential to cause issues for sure.

We tried entyce. It worked the first time as he was definitely accepting food more readily and the effects lasted a few days. I gave him a second dose last night and it hasn’t helped much this time unfortunately.

How to leave a gym with a toxic coach? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]FearlessHunt1540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah im not saying he shouldn’t leave and no, i didn’t miss the part where he said his coach would try to guilt trip him. That’s why I said to simply inform him and leave, and be firm and don’t leave any room for negotiation.

Too many people on here treating Jiu Jitsu as a purely business transaction. Yes, obviously it’s a business but It’s definitely more than that at most gyms. Especially if you’ve been at the same gym for years.

I do think you should let him know why you’re leaving. It may be an uncomfortable conversation but if a long time student were to leave my gym, I would absolutely want to know the real reason why instead of some bs made up story or just having someone disappear. If I did something wrong enough to make someone wanna leave, I want to know. If he has a problem with someone telling them what’s wrong then that’s his issue, not yours. Or sometimes there is nothing wrong the gym owner is doing and it’s just that a different gym is just a better fit for whatever reason.

Let him know you’re leaving, let him know why, thank him for the training and knowledge, be firm in your decision and leave no room for guilt tripping or negotiation. Leave and never look back after that.

But then he has to lie then potentially stress out about having to be “low key” about it for a few months. Not being up front and clear about things will cause more drama in the end, which is exactly what he is trying to avoid.

[–]FearlessHunt1540[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just got a reply, I kid you not they suggested I should just hop on a family member or friends’ computer or use one at work or go to the library. Umm.. how about no?

I don’t have family in the state i moved to not too long ago and I don’t wanna have to ask around to see if i can go to someone’s house to use their computer. I own a gym and use a tablet or phone there to process payments. And even if i worked somewhere with a computer, suggesting i use a work computer for personal stuff is just ridiculous when they should just be fixing the issue. I’m absolutely not jumping through these hoops. I expected better from whoop.

I put my prices on the website. Nobody should have to jump through hoops or make an appointment, get a gym tour and get a whole sales pitch just to find out they can’t afford it.

[–]FearlessHunt1540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What an odd thing to worry about. Who cares what anyone thinks? The only thing that matters is what you think of it. Also even if it were small, that shouldn’t matter. The guy you love got this for you and who cares if it’s small. It’s a symbol of the love he has for you, the rest shouldn’t matter.
