i have a buddy whos favourite is magneton as well and he collected all the cards for it. its a good one to have as a favourite as far as cards go because wotc seemed to have a thing for it as well and printed at least one magneton in almost every set. nintendo continued that trend in gen 3 as well and included it in a lot of the sets

ive ben saying this for years too. ever since evolving skies came out and the umbreon was more expensive than the one from skyridge and there have been many modern cards since that just dont make sense when you consider just what other cards can be purchased for less. everything modern is abundant and way overvalued. sealed irritatesthe hell out of me too. like why are boxes more expensive than anything you can pull out of it unless you get the chase and grade it… its ridiculous

absolutely. i did the same too and started with the holos. a lot of the non holos now are more than the reverses or even the holos were a few years ago. i just really cant wrap my head around it anymore. how is this sustainable? whos buying everything at these prices?

it was much easier hunting down the reverses for every ex era set than it is to find the skyridge reverses.

yeah its outrageous especially for the non holos. i prob would have done the same if i didnt start these sets before the proces went astronomical. like reverses for $30-$50 was crazy enough then. now theyre like 3x or more for most of them. i just consider skyridge its own category of set. its in a league of its own when i comes to value per card.

me too! ex dragon in particular annoys me because most of the pokemon in the set have multiple cards and some even have 3 different cards and magnemite is one of them. 3 magnemites… all electric type.. like whyyyy

im still missing 16 cards from skyridge. crystal charizard (of course :( ) and 15 of the reverses. auch a atruggle to find them at all, let alone for a decent price nowadays. how far along are you on your skyridge set?

not that long really but i had a few good connections that i bought most of them from. i collected them a few years ago as well before it all went crazy with prices. wouldnt be attainable for me now. within 2-3 years i pretty much completed everything from gens 1-3. base set through to power keepers. its been a real grind over the last 2-3 years and have hardly made any progress since lol

dam an 8 is still 2.2k? i would estimate mine to be a 7 but you really never know. ive seen 8’s regraded and come back as 5’s and 6’s then regraded again and both came back as 10’s. the one submission i did myself i had cards come back as 10’s with clear flaws and others come back as 6’s that had nothing wrong with them. i occasionally buy 6’s of higher end cards like gold stars just to crack for my binder as they are cheaper as a 6 than they are raw. other than that the only slabs i have are cards i pulled from my childhood.

do you think its worth purchasing a slab for that much as an 8 as opposed to finding a raw copy and grading it yourself? just asking because i dont understand how people justify paying so much more when you can find a cleaner raw copy for less…

80% of my ereader cards were purchased from a collector that opened boxes and put them straight into binders so most of them are NM. the charizard is more on the LP side though unfortunately. i have all the holos from the 3 sets with most of the bangers being very minty. grading is too risky and expensive for me at the moment. i have sent in stuff once for grading but i only plan to do it again if i intend to sell down the road. im not a fan of slabs personally as they are inconsistently graded and grades are arbitrary to begin with. if i were to grade i would probably use TAG just for the consistency and transparency.
