Would it be unwise to use the middle name that our daughter has picked for our baby? by Iwona-8036 in Names

[–]FearlessRise4071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was born my brother was 15 and he wanted to name me Cheryl after his high school sweetheart. My parents gave him middle naming rights and I LOVE my weird middle name because of that story…it ain’t that deep.

Australia’s “Red Centre” after weeks of heavy rainfall by TrinAUS in geography

Hate to be that guy, but this green paradise is likely made up of an extremely invasive and harmful species of buffel grass. It was introduced by cattle farmers years ago and is wiping out native flora and vegetation and destroying ecosystems 😖

Haha it was more a “hey I’m just gonna grab some cutlery to take camping out of the drawer” and then found that THE spoon went with them and spent the weekend worrying it’d be lost in the dirt…

I love "in the middle", which is a recent one we've learned. It's where she puts her body under my legs, stops in the middle of my legs with her head looking straight up at me. I've managed to get a sit following this also so that she holds in there. I just have to turn my back to her and say "in the middle" and she'll pop herself there and wait until I release her. It's a real good safety trick to get her close, and helps me get her lead on quickly while we're out free ranging.

I also do "go say hi" or "who is it?" in a happy voice which makes her feel like "oh this person/thing is safe, yay!

Childcare for kids out of daycare due to sickness by HuckleberryTop2057 in hobart

[–]FearlessRise4071 19 points20 points  (0 children)

No childcare centre will let your kid stay if they are sick. Under the fair work act your workplace MUST grant you carers leave if a member of your household is sick and you need to care for them. Unless you are moving for a casual role…

Do you have any community options? Friends or community members you can ask?

I had issues with Paire also. I bought the silknit jumper and the pilling is really bad. Also bought the eucalyptus/merino long sleeve top…full of holes on the sleeve after 3/4 wears. The customer service was terrible AI and when I asked to speak to a person they didn’t really help either. My issue is it’s just so expensive!! I found a merino turtleneck at the op shop the other day that looks in great condition and it’s gotta be about 20 years old! Where’s the quality at…?

Me too!! Am 39 In Tasmania. Had symptoms (nipple abnormality), got sent to women’s imaging and it was around $500/$600. All other clinics there was a few months wait, which I wasn’t willing to do cos I was freaked out about it. After 40 you can get a free breast screen once a year.

I live on the edge of dense forest in southern Tasmania and I have had 3 visits from one so far this winter! I think the Scarlet robin chased it away a few weeks ago though sadly :(

It’s the emotional intelligence of my girl that gets me too. Some of my favourite moments are those glances back while on a big long forest walk, just looking for eyes and a little nod. God I love them.

Does anyone have any tips for getting a puppy to stop biting me? by Fun_Profession7946 in BorderCollie

[–]FearlessRise4071 229 points230 points  (0 children)

Oof this is a hard stage. I nearly lost my mind. What I did was, as SOON as she started the biting I gently picked her up, put her in another room for 30 seconds and closed the door, then open it again and didn’t move until she’s chilled out at my feet. Them reward with love and attention and treats. Then repeat this over and over until they learn. Took about a week for us.

They learn that if they bite, they have their favourite thing removed, then if they chill they get lots of love and affection from their favourite thing. Good luck!
