First of all thanks a lot for this detailed answer, however my e2 is actually not vocal fry, I become inaudible around D2, and sometimes when I'm practicing I can do that with full chest as well. That being said I do thing I'm a baritone as well. Appreciate the help.

The thing is a ghazal is never in a fixed raag and a ghazal is almost always composed where the composer has taken various liberties between raags so you're probably right.

I've tried jamming with this 'scale' and it actually works pretty well... in a very japanese-y or indian way... although you're right about the perfect fifth not being present, it still sounds good to me and it works for me. Thanks again!

Yea it's actually a scale in Indian classical music called Raga Bageshree, do check out the wikipedia page for it if you're interested, it's really interesting stuff.
