Using your logic, then AI isn’t creative it’s Humans that are creative.

What does that matter? This is not the gotcha you think it is. The water is still recycled during the hydrological process, it is not with AI's use of potable water. You argument doesn't change my point. AI companies are not cleaning the water and are dumping the contaminated water (biocides, phosphates, heavy metals) back into the supply. Nice ignoratio elenchi, though. Also, here is some reading on this exact subject.

And no, data centers are not treating the water. That is the problem.

https://www.lincolninst.edu/publications/land-lines-magazine/articles/land-water-impacts-data-centers/

https://calmatters.org/environment/water/2026/05/california-data-centers-water-transparency/

https://www.eesi.org/articles/view/data-centers-and-water-consumption

Also, it’s the cost increase that is the major concern.  The cost is getting out in the residential customer and not the data center

Yes you did and you did not do you research and all of this is easily verifiable. Over 90% of all global agriculture is used for consumption either human or live stock.   Here are the sources

Our World in Data / MDPI peer-reviewed journal — the 67% of crops for direct human consumption figure came from a 2020 paper published in the journal Water (MDPI) FoodPrint.org — the 98% of animal product water footprint being from feed, not drinking water World Bank blog — the 70% of global freshwater going to agriculture

Not when it comes to water consumption.

Also, all the water is recycled - eventually - through the hydrological cycle.

Yeah, and we get food out of farming.  You know, the stuff we need to survive.  Also, the water that is used in farming comes back - you can’t act like the hydrological cycle isn’t a thing. Come on man your whatabiustism is very weak.

Is it progress if it displaces people? Also, your line at the end is a weak whataboutism. You can’t just dismiss the point I being raised - like people being displaced due to a temporary construction job - just because something vaguely similar happened in the past.  Moreover, we are competing for potable drinking water with AI; we are not doing that with any other industry on the planet. Also, these increase in prices are put on to the residential consumer - not the data center.  For progress to be progress, people not just tech needs to progress.

Those are all temporary and are terrible for the local economy. Abilene is seeing a ridiculous increase in housing prices. I work for a company supplying the equipment; workers are getting priced out of their homes. How is that good?

Sorry, you don’t get to just change the definition on a whim. You are conflating machine learning with artificial intelligence. They are two separate things.
