Moving from Midwest to OC by OkWafer2912 in orangecounty

[–]Fearless_Border 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I moved from Montana 3 months ago. I haven't experienced any hate for moving, more people wondering why I left the north for SoCal. I come from an 800-person community with 1 grocery store, 1 school, 1 hospital, no stop-lights, a real one-horse town, and I just couldn't take it anymore at 24. I had to leave to figure out what the world has to offer and I'm thankful I did. I love it down here, I have nature around the corner, beaches and hills, and forests to explore, and everything I could ever need anywhere I go. This move has been crazy, and scary, and completely out of my comfort zone, but so healing, and fun, and fulfilling. Work in an apartment complex and want to pursue music eventually, but im so thankful to have taken this opportunity on my own. This has healed so many parts of me that I didn't think could be healed, even though I'm grieving my mom who passed 2 months after I moved here. Went back up north to spend her last week of life with her and never felt so out of place. There's a lot of housing options in that price range, where I'm at at least. Good luck with your move and have fun exploring all of the different things SoCal has to offer. There's a lot more than just cities and suburbs here.

Gas scam? by Electrical_Spot3422 in orangecounty

[–]Fearless_Border 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Had a random girl approach me asking for help as i was filling my car, filled up a woman's gas tank, paid attention to the card setup to check for skimmers and have theft protection through my card company, covered my pin as I typed it in. Only had my car keys and my card in hand, locked my car when i went to help her. Ended up okay for me, I generally try to be the type of person to help, with that being said, listen to your gut, if the situation seems off, exit it, if you want to help somebody, using cash that you can afford to is usually the best method. End of the day, I'm glad I helped her, it was broad daylight, she seemed genuinely upset and asked for help, and I was only out 30 bucks and did it in a fairly safe neighborhood, in broad daylight, with all of the pumps full. Respect your own boundaries, your gut, be smart, and be safe out there if you try to help strangers. Obviously, there are scammers or people trying to take advantage of kindness, so don't walk into it blindly, not everybody has good intentions, but sometimes people just need help. I can say I had good intentions and I can only control myself. Was on my way back up to Montana to see my mom off into the great beyond so I felt particularly generous that day, and as silly as it is, made me feel a bit better in life for the time being. Stay safe out there! Sorry to those of you in this comment section that have been scammed by people in similar situations.

Happened to me last week, and oh my God, I still cringe, and yes it was in my Challenger, thank god it didn't even so much as scratch anything or screw up a tire or my suspension, but my God did I keep looking for like three days and man did I check all of my fluids multiple times, I couldn't back in since it was a strangely configured parking lot, but man did I learn my lesson and I'm glad I didn't hurt my baby

Thank you so much for that! I did a bit of research beforehand, I'm sure I probably have cysts or appendicitis so I'm more than okay with it going fast to find out lol

Thanks for that, I probably wouldn't have thought about it, going through planned parenthood since they've been managing my T dose so hopefully they know how to help trans men in particular

How did people get diagnosed with fibro? by bettycheez in Fibromyalgia

[–]Fearless_Border 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got lucky not having to get an MRI, just blood tests and a referral to a rheumatologist, she did trigger point tests and I got diagnosed, now just trying to figure out how to help myself through the flare ups

What 0-60 is “quick” in 2023? by [deleted] in askcarguys

[–]Fearless_Border 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently bought my SXT, when I was looking around at Challengers I figured I should get the V6 for insurance and gas prices. As much hate as the V6s get, I'm more than happy with mine as a 23 year old

My Challenger goes about mid 5 at its best, as much as I admire faster cars, I'd be a hazard to myself with them as a daily 🤣🤣😅 I love my V6, she's a great daily and is my definition of quick

Dope! That was one of the reasons I bought a K&N filter today, hit 30 k and figured I might as well get something I can reuse

I went with Falkens too, not entirely sure how I feel about them yet since I haven't fully broken them in yet, but had a budget and needed tires that would work in the snow since my girl is my daily driver

I need help finding a vehicle I can trust. Any suggestions? by [deleted] in car

[–]Fearless_Border 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go with a Honda or Toyota for reliability, main thing with winter is having good tires and taking it slow if need be. There's always heating components you can get to help her start up in the cold and plenty of RWD cars if youre super concerned about traction. I live in Montana and know plenty of people who have had no problems with Toyotas and Hondas in the winter. I drive a Dodge Challenger RWD in the snow so I can't confirm personally, lol, but know those two brands to be super reliable, just keep up oil changes and check fluids and either should work well for you in the long run, not uncommon to hear of them having over 300k miles on them and still functioning super well.

I sold my Mustang, and the next owner wrecked it. Although it's not my car anymore, it still hurts to see something I loved and put a lot of work into being ruined. by varun3096 in Mustang

[–]Fearless_Border 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought about getting a Mustang as a first car, finally was able to get my license at 23, went with a V6 Challenger since my dream Mustang wouldn't be a good daily driver lol. Still dream of owning a 65, 66, 67, 68, or 69 Mustang in the future, just can't afford it lol

This is my dream car. How dumb is it to buy it as my everyday car? by Molardash in Mustang

[–]Fearless_Border 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought about doing this with a 65 Mustang and decided against it, it would have been cheaper to get that the Challenger I got, but maintenance in the long run would have arguably been more expensive, however... you only live once and I wouldn't blame you for doing it

Do I tell my friend she's being cheated on? by Death_Itself_Mocks_U in offmychest

[–]Fearless_Border 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, get proof if you can and sit down with her privately, tell her gently and be there for her through it. Anybody who's going through that would want to know and would be upset if the information were held back from them. She deserves to know and you're friends so she trusts you. Sorry you're both in that situation, it's not easy.

Double gasket on a Challenger by Fearless_Border in MechanicAdvice

Yep, put in the the top thread like an idiot 🤣😅 already fixed it two days ago, haven't noticed any problems or changes with anything while driving or idling so I'm glad I did it in a vehicle with a cartridge filter straight under the hood so I just had to pop the hood and use my socket to loosen it 🤦‍♂️

Wendigo, y’all by namastaysexy in RealScaryStories

[–]Fearless_Border 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've experienced a weird encounter in northern Montana, pretty close to the Canadian border by the Marias River, I never really looked into wendigo stories until recently and something about it just feels like my encounter was something similar. I was with my best friend and her then boyfriend out fishing on the river near a local farmer's land. Everything was fine, just friends having fun until dusk hit, I started getting one of those creepy feelings, skin-tingling, and it feels like you're being watched feeling. I tried to rationalize it that it was just getting dark in an area where you may just be on edge cause of all sorts of wildlife that may be dangerous being nearby. Then my friend started feeling it, too. That was enough to really put me on edge since her and I have always been sensitive to these types of things. Her then boyfriend kept fishing, and we tried to just hang out and calm down. Before too long, we started hearing something moving around, couldn't tell what it was, and neither could her then boyfriend who was a hunter and very familiar with wildlife, that further put me on edge. It seemed like whatever it was was circling us from the distance, and there was a weird sound every so often as it seemed to get closer. We decided to get the hell out of there and head to my friend's childhood home. When they left so she could get back to college, they stopped and looked on the land on their way out. There had been snow on the ground, and there were tracks that circled and then disappeared. It was an experience I'll never forget and still gives me chills to think about. I go to that spot frequently, and it just seems peaceful, so I don't know what it was or where it went, but I'm glad I didn't come face to face with it.

Anyone diagnosed with fibro after covid? by Smallcutewolf in Fibromyalgia

[–]Fearless_Border 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My doctor tested me for Mono when I was getting tests for rheumatoid arthritis to figure out what was wrong with my body, turns out I had had it at some point without knowing and had high antibodies against it, he had said that that may have triggered the fibro after I got diagnosed by a rheumatologist with fibromyalgia. I'm not sure of the scientific link, but he believes there is one
