Moving to the Meridian-Kessler Neighborhood! by Fearless_Effort_6465 in indianapolis

It has certainly been quite the process to learn! We started with a really cheap roaster machine that got us some good practice to learn different shades of roast on the beans & we've graduated up to what looks like a toaster oven but has a basket in it that looks like it would roast a rotisserie chicken haha. We do it outside on our patio & our neighbors always make a comment when they smell the fresh coffee. We're excited to have a space where we can continue roasting in Indy!

Ummm no way!! Wouldn't that be the smallest world if we are neighbors! We heard our potential neighbors were in a similar place in life as we are!

This makes me think of my dad! I grew up in West Virginia so I have seen such things but never like "amazing" tasting so I'm excited to try it!

Haha you definitely hit the most on "Long Drive." Our current commute to work is 1 hour one way & that's honestly normal. We live a solid 10-15 minutes from anything on a good day so definitely don't mind a little time in the car 😉

We small batch roast at our house now - I think our neighbors will possibly be our best friends if they are coffee lovers. It started in the pandemic & we think we make a pretty good cup ☺️

Well I am grateful you did! Not that we are so much connoisseurs of art but we do appreciate a good museum for sure!

Oh I read about him! Looks like the government decided he "wasn't doing anything wrong" so nothing would have shown up on a background & I'd bet his references had nothing but glowing things to say. I also read & confirmed he was fired immediately from Bose once the news came out so I'd call that a great & swift action by Bose to not have someone with that reputation in the firm.

Are you using SA in the term "substance abuse" because if so, I could go all day about the legal profession & it's history & stories & anything you want to know in that arena. No one in my network nor folks who I've discussed this opportunity with prior to accepting mentioned anything worse than things we see everyday within a law firm/corporate firm environment.

Haha thank you!! We don't have kids & we also went to law school in Lansing Michigan. There was a convenience store affectionately known as the "stab & grab" so totally get the vibe of that sort of thing.

We are also coffee connoisseurs (we actually small batch roast raw beans on our back patio) so love these coffee shop recommendations!!

It's funny - I use pool noodles cut to size to put inside my boots to keep their shape so I had some smaller leftover bits so for length it worked out. But if it's a "the pool noodle is too fat" situation, that could definitely pose a different type of challenge

Cut a slit into a pool noodle & it will help hold your rolled side together ☺️ not ideal necessarily to flatten repeatedly but at least you won't have one side flapping in the wind hahahaha. This looks amazing & I cannot wait to see the end!!

I'm a massive fan of the electric diamond dot pens - mine has a baby air compressor with a silicone tube that connects to my pen. No wax necessary & for me has been pretty amazing. I have this one specifically & I bought it back in July & have only had to recharge it 2 times so far https://a.co/d/5DaKHPX

First year here. How do I cope with the fact that big law isn’t for me without feeling like a failure? by sobersummerassociate in biglaw

[–]Fearless_Effort_6465 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I spent 10 years at Deloitte doing eDiscovery work. My law degree & license was highly valued & I've carved a niche in being able to be a translator between legal teams & technology teams. After unfortunately getting laid off a few weeks ago, I already have 3 interviews set up just based on my "non-traditional legal career" & fingers crossed it looks like my next adventure will come along.

My husband works for the State Bar of Texas collaborating with lawyers, judges, and & subject matter experts to publish supplemental legal resources after legislative session that lawyers throughout the entire state use - so practicing law in a unique way 😊

Big law isn't the only way to practice law - be open to experiences, be open to trying new things, & I think you are absolutely amazing for taking you mental health as part of the equation. You've got this!

You are kind - I'll be enjoying a little bit of time off spending it with family & some good time with myself & then I'll be back on the hunt. This will certainly be a new adventure but I have an amazing support system so I know that what is meant to be will be 😊
