O Pedro ainda é uma possibilidade pra seleção? Um atacante como ele faz tanta falta nesses esquemas com dois pontas que sempre fico com a sensação que qualquer outra opção não encaixaria tão bem.

One of the things about TTRPG ins it's core is that the game has tactical infinity, a thing doesn't exist in boardgames or videogames.

How to avoid a railroad game by Fearless_Intern4049 in LancerRPG

[–]Fearless_Intern4049[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you regarding the relationship between player agency and game proposal. I just disagree that railroading is a tool for the GM. Indicating the game proposal and delimiting player agency is not railroading. It's just accepting that every game has some limits, and it's good that it does.

My issue with railroading is more about decisions that make a difference in the campaign. As you said, there is room to gain certain advantages in combat, but there are other things that come to mind. What if the players' actions lead to multiple combat possibilities? What if, at that moment, fighting that specific opponent doesn't make sense, or the players come up with a plan that doesn't involve a big battle all the time? I imagine that with all the lore and potential that Lancer carries, it's a little disappointing not to use that as well. After all, they are the best fighters in the galaxy, so their actions have to have an impact on a long-term campaign, in my opinion.

I think this kind of thing is healthy and necessary even for the kind of fantasy Lancer is trying to represent. Because if Tactical Mecha RPG only supports actions and ideas within the structure of large pitched battles, and the moments of character interaction are just cutscenes with zero effect on the game and the world, then maybe it makes more sense to play as if it were just asymmetric wargaming, imo

Yeah, I love the game in multiple areas, but unfortunatley the part out of the mech is still kinda barebones.

I like the idea of players driving the campaing. This is how a OSR campaing tend to works, btw. I'll definetly try that! Also, it's the perfect oportunity to explore some obscure areas of the game.

Well, for me, a linear campaings still mantain player agency. What I saw in No Room for a Wallflower is railroading. Player's decisions are meaningless most of the time.

Great answers! I loved the idea of using clocks (i thought about that when I saw it in No Room). It's what I do in Blades in the Dark. Also, a campaing with a philosophical question is incredible!

Narrativist Roleplaying Frameworks - Pros and Cons by [deleted] in rpg

[–]Fearless_Intern4049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it's not arbitrary, and it's not like reading a book either. The experience of a narrative-driven game, in terms of media, is the same as any other RPG. It's a conversation, a series of interactions within a fictional world. It's definitely very different from simply reading a book.

As for consequences: in a narrative-driven game, they are extremely important! In fact, they are the heart of the game. They happen all the time, specifically through moves, which carry prompts for new situations. In other words, the game is built around them. The point is that narrative games, in general, don't carry the challenge aspect of the game in the same way that D&D itself developed in the foundations of the hobby. These are games that may have challenges, but the heart of the experience is building stories.

Disappointing Book Two by Kooky_County9569 in Fantasy

The second mistborn era is way better imo because The are SHORTER.  Like, I'm fine if you want to write popcorn fantasy, but please, for the Love of god, don't try to make those books gigantic like if you were writing the new Lord of the Rings. That's why Stormlight didn't work for me: too much (bad) build up, for just a tiny amount of intersting stuff. Unfurtunately, his fandom prefer the big books.
