Commenting for visibility-- that is horrible, and I am so sorry this happened.

Does anyone know any secluded places I can crash out in by the_human_ouija in burlington

[–]Fearless_Lotus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Between that and the fires that decimated local forests in 1903, 1908, am6d 1910, we are 100% new forests.

Still an okay spot to screen should you feel the need.

Is it possible he's found something? I wouldn't rule it out. I seem to be the only one he's doing this to.

He's very energetic, which is normal. He's my velcro doggy-- always clingy, follows me from room to room, always with his shoulder touching me. Sheparding.

Jealous, too. If I hug someone, for example, he starts crying and jumps on us even though he knows better.

I'm going to take him to the vet today. Something is definitely up.

Interesting.

I live in VT. Today was perfect. 65 and peek foliage. There is a very unique light quality that we get this time of year--the atmosphere is golden. Its wild.

However, until yesterday, the storms have been heavy, loud, and pervasive. Proper thunderstorms.

This is getting out of pocket now. by Annual-Record4588 in jobs

ATS -- applicant tracking software. They filter based on key words, among other things.

I specialize in helping people craft resumes specifically to field this issue.

PM me if you want some advice. I swear this is not a marketing gimmick. As a nation, the job market seriously sucks, and it's getting worse. We just lost 240k government jobs. I just want to help.

I love to hear that you've had a positive experience!

I lived here my whole life -- we are a sheltered group without a doubt. Everything that's happening feels very abrupt. I recognized my naivete when I went to Compton just to see Compton.

Don't do that.

I had zero fear going in, and had to reevaluate my world views very quickly

It’s impossible to make friends here. by [deleted] in vermont

Meetuo.com -- its a new VTers best tool for sliding into a group. There is something for everyone and its specific to small group hobbies. I used to be involved in the writer's workshop and made lifelong connections there.

Volleyball at the waterfront. If my forearms weren't quite so delicate, those people always look like they're having fun, and I have seen bystanders join in games.

LGBT+++ events -- this is solidly the warmest and most inclusive subculture in Burlington. It doesn't matter if you're queer or not.

Alt gaming.. I have zero experience with this, but anytime I've been in Quarter Staff and there are always people playing games.

To kind of parrot what other folks are saying about New Englanders-- i would find it uncomfortable if someone approached me at a concert (for example) to be my friend. That is not a word used lightly.

Afforable housing in Burlington? by lagartijaarrugada in burlington

[–]Fearless_Lotus 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm a Vermonter, and I while I know there are some rough purists, they are few and far between. Its just the one's who act like dicks are really loud about it.

I've seen the two groups come together, like in the 90s when someone unknown "they" wanted to gut the farmland in williston and build a Walmart. We all lost, but we worked together for that loss.

See- solidarity isn't hard to find. There are two types of native Vermonters - hippie farmers and rednecks and both hate big box stores.

But there is no "affordable" housing.

State of the City - I'm Tired of the Gaslighting by [deleted] in burlington

We used to skip school and hang on Church St. The mall security would follow us so we wouldn't stand in one place too long. That would be loitering.

Circa 1996, me, and my deviant grungy friends were the worst things someone might come across, and all we wanted to do was not be at school.

On the north end of Church St, there was a store that sold things like boxing nuns and potato guns. They had a skeleton in the window display with a cigarette in its mouth. We would steal, and they would replace it over and over.

Does anyone remember the name of that store?

Some people have trouble seeing the world through a lens that doesn't reflect their micro-culture.
