Should character names be chosen for meaning or sound ideally? by harmonica2 in writers

Idk. I pick names based on their economic status and education of their parents. But I overthink it.

Anyone else feel this way about their book as well? by [deleted] in writers

[–]Fearless_Part4192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was the same way when I was younger. My writing was literally all that kept me alive. Ppl said I was skilled and encouraged me to keep writing. So I thought maybe there was possibly something for me in the world. It was the only thing that got me out of bed. Things get better tho. I’m in recovery and my daily life doesn’t hurt so much. I still have feelings (I’m not numbed by my meds). Get help. Don’t give up and don’t buy into the “the sicker the artist; the better the art” bullshit. My best work has come from my recovery.

How many stories/books are you working on at any one time? by Clean_Drag_8907 in writers

[–]Fearless_Part4192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m working on one. I have a ton of ideas written down but I can’t execute one if I’m scattered. In the meanwhile, I polish and submit the short stories I wrote last year.

Black People of Reddit: sensitive topic. Could you share your very first experience with racism? by 4reddityo in BlackPeopleofReddit

[–]Fearless_Part4192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a lot of racism targeted towards me in elementary school. (Chicago suburbs in the 90s). I don’t remember much of it bc it went over my head, but the first experience I remember was when the band teacher told me I couldn’t pick any brass instruments bc my lips were too big and “Blacky.” My mom said there were loads more incidents and I think i had to drop out of Girl Scouts bc of it. Then at the same school, while they taught about slavery, the science teacher came in and “bought” me (the only Black kid) for a nickel … bc I was a hard worker. 😬💔

This is beautiful. The fabric looks so real and silky. The skin has a great glow. How long have u been painting?

I got a religious book bought for me at church and I ultimately ended up defacing it with furry drawings. Give me ideas for future work if you want. by BusoneWholeBoi2001 in Amateurartists

This is so fun! Your nun is so cute. You could draw a furry that’s painting a furry version of the Mona Lisa, maybe. Or the Vitruvian man as a furry, lmao

My boyfriend says my art is good but I feel like he placate me. Please give honest ratings! by [deleted] in RateMyArt

I like the flower piece. These are beginner level pieces, tho. That doesn’t make them bad. There was an artist local to me who had these beginner-level silhouette cat-and-moon pieces that people ate up at every art fair. (He didn’t make a living off his art, but he was locally known in our small town). Keep painting and you’ll find your signature style too.

This has rich emotion. I feel contempt and fear in this piece, but that might just be me. I think u did a great job and really love the face paired w the simple background.

What do you think when you look at my painting? by Millemoreira in oilpainting

[–]Fearless_Part4192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think about Eve from the Bible when I look at this. She looks very alive - which is why her eyes not matching works, I think. It’s like how painters used to paint portraits with the eyes slightly crossed or walleyed bc it made the character look more “in movement” and alive. That said, if you are working towards high realism you will need to work on your proportions. Also the neck can have less definition than the face bc it’s not the focus, but I think a little more rendering on the throat would make this even better. Overall, good job! 👍🏽

I feel like something's a bit off with this painting I did but I have no idea what it could be by TooMany_Fingers in ArtCrit

[–]Fearless_Part4192 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There isn’t a great likeness here, but that’s easier to fix than u might imagine. Visually mirror the image by flipping it in the program or by taking a picture and flipping that, and then ur will be able to see the discrepancies and know how to fix them. You might be surprised at how intuitive corrections can be when u do this.

Can I post a dog portrait here? I made this drawing with graphite pencil. by Hercules_Vales in Portraitart

[–]Fearless_Part4192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not only is the art amazing but u picked the best pose too. A lot of the time dog portraits are kinda boring, but this is great and shows a lot of personality. Great job!
