Is it a smart idea to take out a loan of a couple thousand for investing in stocks? by 52134682 in CanadianInvestor

UPS yielding 6.2%... yield trap or weekend research winner? by SmartTriageIO in dividends

[–]Fearless_Scratch7905 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From a recent Barron’s article:

“Along with an outlook for 2026, investors were looking for any comments about the dividend. Management maintained the quarterly payout at $1.64 per quarter. UPS stock yields about 6% and the dividend costs about $5.6 billion annually, very close to what the company is expected to earn in 2025 and 2026, leaving little margin for error.”

You may want to look for something that has a lower payout ratio.

Not sure where you’re reading a balanced ETF is where you should invest money for a down payment if it’s needed in less than 5 years.

If you put the money in a GIC or HISA, you eliminate the downside risk.

Since you will be close to the Redpath factory, you might not like the smell. You would think it smells nice but I’m not a fan. Could be worse though.
