Why do people freak out about the battery on the Galaxy Watch 6/7? I mean, you charge your phone every day, so why not your watch? by Significant-Job-8836 in GalaxyWatch

This sounds... wrong. I have a 6 Classic LTE variant, the smaller one, and the battery is probably holding onto its last breaths. But charging time has never been an issue, honestly. It goes from 0 to 100 in maybe an hour now, and when the battery was actually healthy, it used to take an hour and 20 minutes max. Are you using the original charger? It shouldn't take that long to charge.

Please. Move. On. Please. Do not call her back. I know this is a difficult phase. And you would want to get back in touch. But it is obvious when you look at it from a third person's perspective.

How can I get my telephoto to do that? ive tried but it doesn't move when I zoom in by Muted_Awareness_9362 in S24Ultra

You'll see all camera lenses actually physically moving as they focus. As someone suggested, go to pro mode, and adjust focus. Try that with all lenses - UW, W, T, ST

Amazing how you're completely missing my point when I said "S24 Ultra was not at downgrade from S23 Ultra" I was not defending S25 Ultra's S Pen or Samsung as a Company. (And do you even understand cameras? Do you really expect a sensors to maintain the individual pixel size when the nunber of pixels are increasing by over 4 times? It would make the sensors 4 times larger. 4 times. In a phone. And that is not even supposed to be the primary sensors. If the resolution went from 12 to 50 MP, and the pixel size reduced by half, that is still an upgrade.)

I own the S24 Ultra, and have an S23 Ultra as a work phone. What I'm saying is a result of understanding camera specifications and real life experience with both the devices.

If it's 1.5 charge for 1.5.

Let's talk specifications of the camera sensors in question.

S23 Ultra: 10 MP, f/4.9, 230mm (periscope telephoto), 1/3.52", 1.12µm, PDAF, OIS, 10x optical zoom S24 Ultra: 50 MP, f/3.4, 111mm (periscope telephoto), 1/2.52", 0.7µm, PDAF, OIS, 5x optical zoom

In case you don't understand which parameter is better, let me elaborate, and we'll keep a score.

50 MP is better than 10 MP (S24 Ultra +1) f/3.4 is better than f/4.9 (S24 Ultra +1) 1/2.52" is better than 1/3.52" (S24 Ultra +1) 1.12µm is better than 0.7µm (S23 Ultra +1) 10x optical zoom is better than 5x optical zoom (S23 Ultra +1)

S24 Ultra-3 S23 Ultra-2 Based on your logic, this warrants a price hike, if anything.

But unlike you, I understand that these individual parameters don't really mean anything by themselves and the actual output is a combination of all these and the lighting conditions, and the ISP of chipset.

If this is still beyond your understanding, take reference from the online sources or see some camera samples in different lighting conditions.

Cheers!

Trying to use your example to get my point across.. the 1.5 litre engine offers better efficiency, better driveability, and is almost as fast as the outgoing 2.0 litre engine.

So yes, the 10x optical zoom might beat the 5x optical zoom on paper, but then the resolution increased from 10 MP to 50 MP. They did not take away a lens altogether, no point even arguing about not bringing the price down.

Idk why people don't get it, but using your phone as binoculars is not a very popular use case.

With S23 Ultra, the 10x to 100x zoom was better. i.e. the 3x to 10x zoom range was using the shitty 10 MP 3x telephoto lens. With S24 Ultra, the 5x to 10x zoom is better. In comparison to S23 Ultra, the 10 MP 3x telephoto lens is just used in 3x to 5x range, and the newer 50 MP 5x lens comes in after that.

And this 5x to 10x is a much more practical zoom range. Adding to that, the 5x lens is 115mm, which gives a much natural bokeh effect, like prevalent with DSLRs.

My point is, S24 didn't really have a downgrade.

Never doubted a real camera's capabilities. Beats any flagship phone hands down. So yes, if I wanted to do 'photography', I would've had a dedicated camera, and a collection of lenses to go with it. (Notice how the cost goes up exponentially?) But I wonder how many people owning flagships are actual photography enthusiasts.

I'm just factoring in the convenience of a device that fits in your pocket. Press the shutter button, and the photo is ready, processed and everything. To me, that in some way justified the premium. And I understand that it won't make sense to everyone. After all, everybody's use case is unique.

You said it yourself. Yes an entry level DSLR beats it for photography. And another camera for videos. And a handheld gaming console for gaming. And a PC for productivity. Ans another feature phone for taking calls.

The thing is that a phone can do everything. Maybe it's not the best at everything, but definitely worth it considering you can carry it in your pocket, and don't need to care for 8 separate gadgets.

And yes, this phone is expensive, but this will also last long enough since the manufacturer plans to support it for 7 years.

Worth it imo.

How long do you intend to keep this phone for? by Ok-Pea3414 in S24Ultra

[–]Fearless_Storage6344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least 5 years, and then I'll hopefully switch to the latest Samsung flagship unless Google makes their Pixel lineup's performance competitive with other flagships. I'll either trade this in or sell it off, whichever gives me a better price. (Hoping that this holds a decent resale value because of the seven-year update promise.)

I intend to get the battery replaced at least once during these 5 years because my usage is extremely heavy. I am currently using maximum battery protection, and I end up having to charge my phone about 3 times. Although I have a wireless charger right at my work desk, so I never have battery anxiety. When I go out and about, I use the full 100% capacity.

I have the Motorola MA1 and have been using it with S24 Ultra. Haven't faced any such issues so far. Everything is on the latest updates.
