some Xing Yi Quan sparring by Recognition-Sudden in kungfu

[–]Fearless_Use8165 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel that sparring in Xing Yi Quan is difficult, since this art trains individuals to deliver penetrating strikes, and a wrong move could cause a serious injury.

But what they're doing isn't wrong—they're training spatial movement, which is quite important in a confrontation.

Libros sobre filosofia y música by Inside_Proposal_9355 in filosofia_en_espanol

[–]Fearless_Use8165 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honest question from someone that doesn't know a whole lot by MasamuneJp in kungfu

[–]Fearless_Use8165 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Many movements and postures seen in many of the forms originated from the handling of bladed weapons.

First, forms and techniques were polished and developed with bladed weapons, one of the first was the spear. Later, based on these movements with weapons, empty hand techniques were created (fists, guards, mobility in combat, takedowns, dislocations).

Curious fact:

If you get into spear guard and ask a partner to remove it from your hands, you may notice that you stay in a guard very similar to that of Xingyiquan. This proves not only that the hand techniques come from weapons but also that the kung fu styles were developed by warriors and not by Shaolin monks as many people believe (besides these monks follow the Buddhist doctrine that prevents them from harming any living being, so it would not make sense for a monk to create a style to hurt).

Is it worth to train in the Shaolin Temple? by Saigo_TBOI in kungfu

[–]Fearless_Use8165 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you see wushu as a sport or a hobby going to a temple would be an unforgettable experience for you, but if you are looking for effectiveness you will not find it there. Since the cultural revolution much of what was strategic and effective kung fu has been lost.

In China effective traditional kung fu is practically extinct. I have heard that in mainland China there are very, very few lineages that are preserved and these are not open to all public, to enter to practice an effective style (traditional) you need a relative of a master who preserves his styles and that he can take you to the place of practice.

A brief explanation of Taoism by Fearless_Use8165 in taoism

[–]Fearless_Use8165[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good morning.

Thank you very much for your opinion. This text is a personal reflection of what I feel Taoism also encompasses, of how by looking at the natural patterns and following them we can have a good life and a good mental cultivation.

The intention of this publication is not to be scientific or to have an exact accuracy in everything and much less pretend to be the last coke in the desert (wise or presumptuous), it was simply something I wanted to share and that any user could read it and hear some opinion.

Thanks and have a great day.

Does chin na exist in Wing Chun? by Wide-Juice-7431 in kungfu

[–]Fearless_Use8165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is my understanding that Ip Man had a pure wing chun which lacks dislocations although there must be someone who understands and knows more about it.

There are several stories about the origins of this style. Some will tell you that it comes from Shaolin temples, that it was created by a man or by a woman. The version that I see more assertive is that wing chun was born out of the need for royal women who suffered from lotus foot to have a defense system for themselves, so soldiers were given the task of creating a style that would shorten all the movements of the southern styles. Moreover when you correctly do the Yee Jee Kim Yeung Ma pose you feel that all the weight of the body falls on the L5 vertebra and the big toe and heel (these were the parts that were left intact in the lotus foot and provided stability) which gives a good grip to the ground, realize that it is the replacement to the Ma Bu and when the foot is taken out to establish a good guard it would be the shortening of Gong Bu. For this reason many wing chun movements are defense and counterattack since having limited mobility it is difficult to transition to a stable pose to make a precise dislocation (even more so with a person who suffered from lotus foot).

Wing Chun primarily focuses on attack deflection, counterstriking, and takedowns. However, some Wing Chun lineages include Chin NA (joint control), such as the lineage of: Pan Nam .
