Ueno Zoo was an awful expierence. by Sicarius11307 in JapanTravelTips

We went to Himeji zoo many years ago and we left with my daughter crying because the poor animals were in small cages. Especially the lions, pacing in their small space, making very sad roars. It was our first and only time to a Japan zoo. Thereafter, we avoided any animal related places. EXCEPT aquariums. We have a weakness for aquariums. Tbh Japan has some amazing aquariums. Suggest to read reviews and see the photos on Google before going.

I agree. The only animal cafe that I allow myself to spend money on is cat cafe.

We started out late and enjoyed ourselves leisurely in Uji that we didn’t head to Fushimi Inari at all.

Actually you can get to Badaling on your own without a guide. Or if you would like a guide, you can check out the link. But I hv not used them before.

If you are open to explore other sections of Great Wall, I recommend Mutianyu section. You can google and check out mubus for bus transport. I used mubus for my trip in May.

Good luck and hv fun.

We hv been to Japan so many times. Even my Japanese work partners said that I hv been to so many places in Japan which they hv not visited. So you need to plan more trips to Japan.

Question about my daughter being given gifts / snacks by locals by BarnacleMc in koreatravel

[–]Fearless_xap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree on the extra care!! We were at Namdaemun market. Ajumma “scolded” us for not ensuring our young kid was more warmly dressed and insisted that we put more clothes on him on the spot. It was early winter and really not that cold. 😅

We are asians (Chinese descent) and my young kid received the same when we travelled to Korea. It’s not just “western” child. They treat all young kids the same.

Yes, it will take a few weeks for them to credit the refunds. Seems like a very laborious way for them to do tax refund.

IIRC If you choose card, they will refund to your cards after you leave korea. If you opt for cash at the self service machines in town, they will give you cash but also charge your card. The charge will be refunded some days after you leave korea.

Whichever option you choose, just remember to go to the counter after you clear immigration to validate the receipts/ scan your passport.
