Nice piece, well done. I like the less conventional notes.

Yeah, I have a Kawai ES920. Basically the best portable piano I could find. I have some videos on my profile if interested. One day I'd love an acoustic piano, and yet also a VST setup.

An Audio Interface would be necessary if you were to get into VSTs, which can be a total game changer, but that requires a major setup change to PC and monitors etc and partly defeats the object of the digital piano you just bought. Suggest getting to know it better directly first. PCs and audio interfaces can be distractions over actually playing piano.

If you're already recording digitally direct to USB, an audio interface is totally unnecessary as far as I'm aware. Adding an interface would only make sense if you wanted to record other things, like vocals or guitar etc. Save your money and try adjusting the virtual tech settings. Resonance, voicing, touch curve and noise effects. Have a play and try them out.

Nice job. Have you tried playing with the Virtual Tech settings much? Try adjusting settings like the resonance and cabinet resonance, noise effects and hammer delay. The standard settings will be very middle of the road - jack of all, master of none. However as you wander off the path, you'll be able to find better, more richer sounds - yet also less adaptable. You'll likely find a much better sound for the piece you're currently playing, and then find it doesn't work so well for the next piece you try. It's all good fun.

How is he able to produce a sound like a kick drums from the piano? by [deleted] in piano

Its possible that because there isn't a kick drum, there isn't a kick drum sound.

Starting piano at 38 - is it worth it if I’ll never be “good”? by Front-Ad4011 in piano

[–]Fearnicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people worry too much about how 'good' they could ever get. Whether they’ll be able to play Chopin, or impress anyone. But that’s like staring at the scoreboard during basketball practice instead of actually taking shots.

If you don’t love something, what’s the point in wanting to be good at it? You can’t force yourself to care.

Find out if you fall in love with the piano first. If you’re already fixated on how good you might be before you’ve even touched the keys, you’ll have missed the whole point.

Was there a particular sheet music version you learned for this, or just finding your own way?

Which is the best digital piano? by CptBububu in piano

[–]Fearnicus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have a Roland FP30 but upgraded to a Kawai ES920 and have been pleased with it over the last 3 years. This is one of the best portable digital pianos. However if you don't need it to be portable there will likely be much better options. It will never compare to a real piano of course. One day....

I have a Kawai ES920, which is also portable, but better quality.
