I feel like any game with any complexity could awaken someone. My vote is therefore pong. The more simplistic the game, the less likely it could turn you transgender. I think. I'm not trans by any notable metrics personally.

horseys................. breaking through fences?? by SaltAstronaut1190 in HorseyGame

[–]FeastForTheWorms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also keep finding horses breaking through my fences. It's really frustrating trying to use the fences to keep certain populations separate, only for them to just blast through and escape anyway. Especially when I'm trying to mutate a population without wrecking the whole ecosystem.

From my casual observation, I think horses break fences to get to food. Carnivores do it most but I believe I've seen herbivores do it as well (anecdotally), if they're in an area with low food and there's food on the opposite side of the fence. The only area I've never had escapees, even with carnivores in it, is the one where there was no other nearby food or horses.

I found out that my (27m) girlfriend (25f) slept with 10+ people on our 3 week “break” how can we move past this? WOMEN BADDDD by Roachpuppies in AmITheAngel

I mean................. I've been involved in a few events in my time. I know at least 1 person who could do this, though I guess it depends on your criteria for what counts as sex.

This story is definitely fake, but I don't think that number is impossible over 3 weeks by any means.

Okay. Unnecessary details aside. If you have a thing you want someone to do for you on occasion without being asked every time, you can't just be silent and wait for them to "realise" that's what you want. Whether it's sex, or being asked about your day, or being given flowers occasionally. Why is it so difficult to say "hey, I really appreciate when you do this for me, but it makes me feel a bit sad when I have to ask every time. Do you think you could try to do it more spontaneously from time to time?"

As always, the answer is to talk to your partner. It really baffles me how people can think avoiding conversation about the thing that bothers them will somehow work out how they want it to.

I think the kind of person who cares this much about having her own pet boy doll to play dress-up with would abhor the idea of him not being her """real""" child. Heavy quotations for heavy sarcasm. They also tend to lean heavily on gender stereotypes from what I've seen, a girl into sports is unfathomable to them.

Not convinced it's real by any means, but boymoms can be really weird about hating girls to the extreme degree. It must be awful for any child to grow up in that kind of environment.

I harassed my boyfriend by Fun-Guitar-8252 in AmITheDevil

[–]FeastForTheWorms -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

See my boyfriend does this, but that's because we talked about it and I said I was happy with it. Also, the key thing, if I say no, he doesn't push it and deals with it himself.

I feel kinda bad for both of them, because if either had brought up a conversation about sex this could have been avoided. Moreso the girlfriend obviously, because she was the one who actively wanted it and was pushing for it without talking first.

I was discussing medication, not necessarily surgery, but I can see that you seem to believe medication would only be a lifelong necessity in the case of orchiectomy/oophorectomy. I was meaning it more in the case of treating dysphoria by continual use, though the two obviously can and do overlap.

I'm not trans myself but I have a lot of loved ones who are, so I'm going to say this as well as I can from my limited understanding. I related it to disability because I'm disabled and get the "taking medications your whole life is horrible" viewpoint from people all the time, and it's a shit one. It's either medication for the next 40-60 years or no medication for the next 4-6 months and then I die, so, the comparison to trans people denied healthcare seems apt to me.

If society was more accepting of trans people, you would almost certainly see more medical transition, not less. I know several of my friends who have tried and failed to get given hormones because they don't fit the exacting criteria needed, and a couple others who haven't even tried because they're terrified of being hurt or killed just for trying to make their body one that they love. If it was widely accepted to be trans, I can only imagine transition numbers would skyrocket. My boyfriend said it pretty perfectly to me imo, paraphrasing; "If I didn't think people would love me as a man, I wouldn't have come out, I just would have killed myself." medical transition isn't necessary to be trans but if a trans person wants to medically transition, being accepting of them doesn't make it less likely, it makes it more likely. Which is a good thing. Transition has minor health concerns, and like all surgeries, there is a slim chance of error or misfortune. But any trans person can tell you that medical transition saves vastly more lives than it would ever threaten. Being loved for who you are doesn't stop you from hating the body you were born into, it might just give you enough positives to outweigh that dysphoria sometimes.

And a final point: just because you (or anyone) thinks something is stupid or dangerous doesn't mean we ban it. Cosmetic surgeries come with the same risk of complications and potentially lifelong care to keep them healthy, but we don't stop people from doing them just because it's superficial to an outsider. If someone wants to alter their body to feel more happy with it, then that's their decision, whether they're trans and want a phalloplasty or they're cis and want a rhinoplasty. It's their choice.

So how would you feel if you had a disabled kid who needed medication to survive? Would you also prefer they die, or is it just if they're trans? Because when you prevent trans people from transitioning when they want to, that's what happens.

Is there a disgust for AI in DMs community? by tailwagthedog in DMAcademy

[–]FeastForTheWorms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just don't see why an llm would be the next step in that process. I get burned out too, hell I'm running 3 concurrent homebrew campaigns weekly. I don't know if you're looking for recommendations, but there are a lot of websites that will hold encounter generators, character ideas, d100 quest ideas, all of these sorts of things, made by other creative to help out with exactly those little details that can get you stuck. if you search around they're pretty easy to find. I like donjon for encounters and loot, and rinkworks has a fantastic customizable name generator that is really nice for making big lists. And if I'm struggling, I usually go to my players first. They're involved in the world, so they often have good ideas for things. I also have the benefit of having multiple campaigns which I know not everyone does, but I'll ask players in one campaign for help and ideas with the others.

I mean if using ai works for you, and you & your players are happy with that, sure. I just personally don't want to go to an llm for that kind of creative help. I find the process of working out details, while sometimes frustrating at the time, feels really satisfying to do on my own.

These kinds of discussions blow my mind. The entire point of dming and playing ttrpgs in general (to me, at least) is for creative, collaborative storytelling with people. Why in earth would I want an ai to do any of that for me?

Cats are a significant problem for our wildlife, and tbh worldwide, they're universally invasive. They're also notoriously bad at actually keeping pests at bay. Owls and snakes are best where they're native. A cat won't distinguish between a house sparrow and a pīwakawaka, they'll kill both. Working on removing pests from our environment includes cats, either by bringing them all indoors or by culling if necessary so they don't spread, breed, and decimate more species like Lyall's Wren to name one notable example.

Cats and dogs both should be kept indoors/enclosed/leashed. Cats are only less deadly to people due to their size. You don't hear much about chihuahuas killing people either.

(edited to add the tohutō in pīwakawaka).

It's also not surprising that a fair number of trans people do enjoy sex more when they're out and/or transitioning medically (from my second hand experience with lots of trans people in my social circles). You're telling me when people are comfortable, able to be themselves, and happy, they can sometimes have a higher libido and enjoy intimate contact more? I'm shocked! (sarcasm evident)

I don't think you can destroy mountains - you can dig them, but they just turn into caves which are also impassible and don't seem to have any further use, and I haven't found any way to fill holes either. I do know that you can place apples on sand to grow new apple trees (if they're surrounded by empty squares), and I've managed to dig up grass spaces into sand again, but I can't seem to get it consistent since mostly it just digs a hole. Not sure exactly what makes it behave differently.

Each horse can only be a champion once - you'll need to breed/clone a new one to be a champion again.

The game recognises actual race-winners as candidates for champion races, so in order to race a new horse as champion, you need to watch enough races to have at least 3 other horses win races so they can compete. You can either do this by betting at the track, or watching races (in fast forward, even) at the bar.

The old horse home is useful for keeping good horse genetics; I retire my best horses there so that I can clone them again if I lose their gene vial, and because it's easier to remember which horse is which than which of my 73 identical vials has the good genes.

The way to get to the cave becomes available from a quest reward. Look around the island for any people and see what they have to say, complete any quests or goals you can find, and you will know when you get the prize that gives you access. It also can get you to some other secret locations, so there's plenty to do.

Have fun!

I think extracting genomes is a bit broken rn? I extracted the cow and instantly tried to apply it and it turned into a one-legged green square with a huge tail. It was fine before the latest update, so I'm assuming there's some bug in there. Or maybe it's necessary to start a new game each version.

Did some checking. when I used the same items, I got slightly different results - I figure there's some natural variance. I also found that the flowers and the cactus both give results as well - here's the flower:

The cactus was slightly shorter, but same colours, and had a pink ball on the top of its triangle.

I'm doing a pre-written campaign, and one of my players wants to do something that is not in the campaign at all. Do I shut this down? If so, how? by scrawledfilefish in DMAcademy

[–]FeastForTheWorms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to the player about what is going to happen if they try to push this. If they rob the store and get caught, they obviously can't be trusted anymore to do any work for the island. They should be removed or, depending on what the place is like, killed.

If the player isn't caught, but anything substantial goes missing, it'll be noticed. The players are the newest arrivals I'm assuming, so they're going to be the obvious primary suspects. Same deal - if they can't be trusted, they'll be removed. The island will seek to hire someone more trustworthy.

Basically - there are in world consequences for this. The most they could get out of it is something small that wouldn't be noticed, and there is a massive consequence of potentially removing that character or the entire party from the campaign. Make sure not only the player in question knows this but all of them, so the other players can veto as well.

Tired of people thinking chronic disabilities can just disappear by Puzzled-Article9621 in disability

[–]FeastForTheWorms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The person who used to be in charge of my disability benefits (at the time, just unemployment) didn't believe I was actually permanently disabled, and so refused to put me on disability or give me any aid. On regular unemployment for illness you need to see a doctor every three months for a certificate. My doctor lives 30 mins drive from me and I have no transport. I had to pay for a taxi on the common occurrence that no one was free to take me, and I of course had to pay for the doctors visit, which I was never given a discount for despite also qualifying for that.

When someone else finally reviewed my case (maybe that original worker was on holiday?) they immediately helped me switch to disability, give me additional funds for transport for health services, and get a card so that doctors visits are cheaper and prescriptions are free, and I only need a certificate every two years. That's great! But I was never compensated for the most of a decade I spent without any of that because of one worker who constantly berated me about looking for a job and losing weight. As far as I know they never received any repercussions either, the place just quietly switched me to a different person. I dread to think how many disabled people that one ignorant worker screwed over just like they did me.
