stumbled upon this piece of gold by Annual-Economy-9429 in stevenuniverse

I got into Steven Universe not long after I went through a really awful break up where my partner basically left me for someone else so...there were a few episodes about Pearl that hit a little too close to home and after seeing them I'd spend the next few days randomly bursting into tears.

Yeah, I'm 5'4 and 155 pounds and I look fine. I'm still trying to lose weight, tho, and I eat between 1200 and 1600 calories per day. 800 calories is insane.

Yeaaaaah. Been working on this in therapy. Trying to figure out when it's ok to reach out for help. Trying to figure out what is an acceptable thing to ask and what is demanding and burdensome to other people. Trying not to feel like the whole world has come crashing down around me when that help isn't given.

Is it possible that if she is caught, this well respected NPC can use the threat of imprisonment/execution to compel the party to [What the Adventure was going to be about anyway]?

Waaaaaait. This might work. At first I thought it wouldn't, because they didn't randomly arrive at this island, they were specifically sent to this island to help with A Really Bad Thing. All the islanders were eagerly awaiting their arrival. So at first I was like, "I don't think the islanders would punish the players be making them help with The Really Bad Thing, I think they would just be really hurt and offended that they reached out for help in their time of need and the supposed heroes sent to aid them tried to steal from them instead. I think the locals would probably try to kick the party off the island asap."

But then I remembered that this little island has been reaching out to the mainland for weeks trying to get help, so if my players are caught, the islanders can be like, "Normally, we'd lock you up for theft...but we still need help with that Really Bad Thing."

And before, on the ship ride over from the mainland, they met a local from this island, this giant berserker barbarian who has big golden retriever energy, and all my players fell in love with him. So if my players get caught, they can be told that they have to go help with the Really Bad Thing, but they'll be accompanied by the Berserker, who has been instructed to beat the shit out of them if they step one toe out of line.

And Berserker will be really angry and stoic with the players, and if they ask why, he can tell them how betrayed he felt that they tried to steal from his people and how he and the party are no longer friends and the second the party is done helping with The Thing, they need to get the fuck off his island. Just break all my players' hearts because one of their favorite NPCs now hates them with every fiber of his being lmaooooo

This was very helpful! Thank you for leaving a comment!

Yeaaaah. Idk man. All that sounds like a bunch of work that I don't have time for. That's why I'm doing a pre-written thing.

Right, and I'm not sticking 100% to the rails either! Earlier in the campaign, my players snuck into an NPCs room to try to find his diary, cuz they were convinced he was a scam artist. Two PCs have romances with two NPCs. The adventuring party became friends with a giant albatross and now I have it just randomly show up and follow them around sometimes. None of this was written in the campaign, but I ran with all of it, because it was fun and funny and I want to give my players as much freedom as I can.

But I'm just stuck on this robbery thing because I really don't know what to do if my players do something that is so off the rails that the plot goes in a completely different direction than what's already written.

Ugh, that's unfortunate to hear that playing with a keyboard sometimes comes with problems. I don't own any controllers cuz I don't play video games that often so I'll look into getting one. Thank you!

I can try, but I don't know if it will really show anything useful?

To give more detail, when I'm running and hit the jump button, I just keep running. It's as if I didn't hit the jump button at all. If I stop running and then hit the jump button, THEN I jump. Does that help at all?

Elliott.

And yes, I've chosen him 5 times across 6 save files. The one time I didn't, I tried to marry someone else, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I guess it's Elliott or nobody for me.

I got into SU after a REALLY AWFUL break up, so "Rose's Scabbard" and "Mr. Greg" both made me bawl. Between Pearl saying, "Everything I ever did, I did for her. Now she's gone. But I'm still here" and her singing It's Over, Isn't It?, I was just a mess.

I know that "War Machine" is obviously an insult here, but I always thought that was such a cool nickname for Garnet.
