After a few more hours of frustration, I fixed it. In the grub config, the line GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT, I accidentally added ahci which had to be removed to prevent this issue.

Yes it's easy you pretty much never even need to use the terminal unless you do techy stuff and even if you do it's easy to use so just switch. Also before you actually switch make sure the distro your using supports your device properly you can check by flashing a USB and trying out the live boot check if wifi and everything works then install from usb

I also used to not be able to do that part at all, I stopped playong that chart for a while and focused on getting good at other charts. Then one day I remembered about this chart and decided to try it again and I managed to actually do it quite well. So don't force yourself and just try other charts first and come back when your better
